Good afternoon.
In May 2018 two Austrian citizens,
Andreas Kaltenhuber and
Carina Fontan, and a UK citizen,
Simon Hibbert, founded a cryptocurrency trading platform "MCT+".
The MCT+ founders issued their own cryptocurrency, the MCT coin, and were selling it as an analog of shares - it was announced that the MCT coin would allow to get part of the revenue of the Platform.
At the start the MCT+ founders got themselves 1.5 million MCT for free as Premine allegedly for the Platform development that was equal to about 30 BTC (300.000 USD).
Also it was announced for many times that MCT+ would be incorporated in the nearest future and would become an official company.
In May 2019 there was a theft of users' funds from the Platform.
On 02 July 2019 the results of internal investigation were announced to the public and it was clearly proven by blockchain transactions that the founder and the main Platform developer
Andreas Kaltenhuber was the one who had committed the theft two months earlier.
Within several hours after that the Platform was shut down, the website and the project’s social accounts were deleted. The exit scam was completed.
As a result, more than six thousand people lost their funds. The total damage caused to users and investors can be estimated up to one million dollars.
The identities of two founders, the Austrian citizens,
Andreas Kaltenhuber and
Carina Fontan, were established with 100% accuracy despite the fact that initially they were anonymous.
According the third founder, the UK citizen,
Simon Hibbert - only name was established.
Based on the foregoing, the MCT+ founders committed the following actions:
- issuing shares of a non-existent company and selling them to people from all over the world, including American citizens (about 2/3 of all the MCT coin holders were Americans);
- non-payment of taxes on the income received;
- money laundering;
- two episodes of theft of users' funds (in May and July 2019);
- fraud.
Here is the result of a year-long investigation called "The complete story of the MCT+ Exit Scam":
