All of us are overlooking an important fact. As a result of multi-trillion stimulus packages, the purchasing power of fiat currency has gone down by quite a bit during 2020-21. Most of the commodities have witnessed an increase in prices. This is not just applicable to food items, but also to other commodities such as crude oil, steel, timber, real estate.etc. And I expect the prices to rise much further in the future.

Due to the effect of corona farmers are helpless due to not getting fair price bank loan household expenses. If these farmers who are involved in the most important sector of the country do not get a fair price they will be forced to change their profession in the future as a result, the world may face food shortages in times of crisis due to which the farmers are getting their fair price by increasing the price of food items and the financial problems are being eliminated. Many countries experienced this covid-19  that caused many food items to double up this year. Many things doubled up for where I'm because of the economy that was affected during the pandemic that caused many organizational sectors not to function the way they use to function in the country.
Many crops producers find it difficult to grow their crops and bring them to market for sale because of the lockdown the government has announced in the country. The lockdown that took over the country over one year and some months, that caused the farmers not to go to the farm to grow their crops because of the covid-19 that was spreading all over the country.
Since the government has removed the lockdown from the country few months ago, show that very soon food items will decrease in the market because farmers will now have full access to grow their crops in a larger land to have more crops to supply to the market.

Meat in the country is also increased maybe because due to the economic crisis cause by the Pandemic. We know we back to slowly normal again but not like before because they have restrictions and guidelines when you are go to job or open again a business so the government are doing their job to recover the economy of each country but suddenly only people who are suffer due to the inflation.

I feel this is the same in every country the Corona virus hit, the pandemic brought set backs to every country's economy instead of going forward it disfigured the economy, cuz I remember clearly people couldn't go to work as at last year, everyone was just at home trying to survive, the food prices doubled since there are few sellers and so many buyers, in my country during the pandemic the prices of food stuffs doubled, right now in 2021 it tripled we still don't know what's going on  .

Do you think that if there was no pandemic last year, the food and commodities prices would not have increased ?  The prices are increasing every year because of the inflation. I agree that due to pandemic the prices increased more than expected but overall unless we don't find a way to stop the inflation, the price rise will not stop.

The farmers can't increase the price of their products whenever they want. The prices are decided on the basis of market dynamics. When there is a drop in supply, the prices will go up and there is no point in blaming the farmers for that. They also suffered huge losses during the initial stages of the pandemic, when the crops were left rotten due to lockdowns and other precautionary measures. And how many people can't really afford to eat? The number of individuals who live in extreme poverty has gone down over the years.

I think this just the beginning we see right now. Food prices are going to go up even more in the future. Having access to good food becomes more of a privilege these days. The demand for bio or vegan food is growing a lot over the last few years. Also the willingness of consumer to pay for food is going up too.

Can someone name a country and a list of good/food which prices doubled? In my country I dont feel like buying food became more expensive, I done see that prices even has increased for more than 25%. Also I cant say that our country produce all the food that are on the shelves. But what worries me is that vegetables (these we can produce), like tomatoes and cucumbers cost almost the same as pork or beef. Despite growing them are easier than raising a cow.

In my country, I haven't noticed any such price change. But I should add that since work from home was declared in my office, I have shifted to my hometown and here the prices were always lower (since it is a rural area). But I have talked to my friends who are still residing in tier 1 and tier 2 cities, and they are unaware of any significant prince increase. When the lockdown was declared (March 2020) there was a temporary spike, but it was soon put under control by the authorities.

There is nothing strange or surprising in this: the rise in the price of food in the context of a pandemic is an inevitable consequence of the prevailing conditions. Production costs have increased due to all sorts of knockdowns and disruption of logical supply chains due to the closure of borders between the regions of states and the states themselves. And so the rise in prices can only be held back by two main reasons: the falling purchasing power of the population and government subsidies to agricultural producers.

As far as I know farmers had all the opportunities to cultivate their fields and to gather their harvest (social distance was definitely observed there) but because of governments’ covid limitations all that goods where left closed in the food warehouses. Marketing and logistics companies were closed so farmers can't sell their goods and those goods got rotten in the food warehouses. Here you are the growth of prices for goods.

I can also closely related with agriculture based economy and belongs to a farmer family where almost maximum of my family members are involved with agriculture. It is very enjoyable for us whenever we got the results and we just wait to see it more. We also produced more than other times but we didn't sell it due to lockdown period in my area. That caused us a loss but ee believe good times will come soon. We basically produced rice and some vegetables where rice is okay for hold but vegetables can't hold a long time without using chemical. That's the reason for increasing demand and supply was less as expected. So the price gradually get doubled in many countries.

They are spending their money by doubling the price of food but it will not be long term.

We also had this kind of problem on our country. The needs of every people during pandemic are doubled and there's a lot of issues that spreads the all over the local gorvernment. They keep on being blind on other "critical" issues and focusing on other nonsense reports from the media. I can't tell whether this will end nor continue.

When i have time i go to local market to check prices

Vegetable prices doubled
Fruit prices doubled
Meat prices around 30% increase
Grain products around 20% increase
...

And my country  is a exporter of food products

It's the same on our country and everything is getting illogical when our government regulates something especially when "taxes" or "fees" are included.

Because the governments almost never increases the tax on agricultural products. However, increasing oil prices may cause additional expenses in transporting food products. Here in my country there has been no increase in the food prices. We are paying the same rates that we used to pay before the pandemic.

No. It is not happening all over the world. Here in Singapore there was no significant increase in the food prices. My friends in India are also of the same opinion. And here we import most of the food products, so the impact should have been visible if there was an increase. Taxes are getting hiked, as the governments have now received a shot in the arm with the ongoing pandemic. They got the excuse to increase the taxes further.

Singapore is a very small, rich and less populated country which means government can bear their tax burdens from their existing money but I don't think you are right with what is happening in India, the price keep increasing since the implementation of GST and also their wrong finance policies killing small businesses for years now.
