Craig Wright Must Face Trial Over Alleged $11B Bitcoin Fortune as Request for Summary Judgment Denied

The District Court for the Southern District of Florida has denied Craig Wright’s request for summary judgment in a case that involves claims over ownership of about 1.1 million bitcoin (worth over $11 billion).

In an order signed on Monday, Judge Beth Bloom at the Florida court denied Wright’s motion seeking summary judgment that would have prevented the matter from proceeding to a full trial.

The case, first brought in 2018,  involves the plaintiff Ira Kleiman’s argument on behalf of the estate of his late brother David, that half of Wright’s bitcoin worth and intellectual property belongs to Kleiman. The plaintiff has argued that the bitcoin in question was also mined together by Wright and Kleiman.
Wright’s request for summary judgment was comprised of six claims including statute of limitations, the plaintiff’s inability to prove the existence of an oral partnership and the court’s lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
In the past, Wright has claimed that he was the inventor of bitcoin under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, an assertion many in the crypto world have disputed due to a lack of corroborating evidence.
According to an order issued by the Florida court on Sept. 4, the trial involving Wright’s bitcoin fortune has now been moved to Jan. 4, 2021.

Craig Wright Must Face Trial Over Alleged $11B Bitcoin Fortune as Request for Summary Judgment Denied
...

Well, the way to prove that he is the owner of those 1.1M BTC is by signing a transaction, not with a Judgment, because maybe if he wins the case, he would be able to claim he is the owner, but that wouldn't be enough to spend them. Not his keys mean not his coins, that's how it works.

Why this dude still isn't in jail or in a padded cell in a psychiatric ward is beyond me. Let alone why this dude still actually has followers on Twitter and on their "mEtAnEt" community.

This is what he gets by attracting too much attention. Well, be careful what you wish for. He was badly in need of attention. Now, look where he is.

Well, he owns at least $11 Billion in BTC as he claims. He could therefore afford to hire the best lawyers in town to take care of the cases. For him, he could spend his days doing what he loves, stress-free. Or does he own them? Either way, good luck to you, Satoshi. Grin

Stick him in jail & throw away the key.

Why does this person still lurking around? Shouldn't he be jailed already? He's just making the crypto community at risk and making the crypto world on a much riskier situation. Either he claims were all true (which isn't), his money should've saved his ass sooner. Hope this guy would be jailed after I woke up later Cheesy There should be no trials but rather direct him to prison lol

Why this dude still isn't in jail or in a padded cell in a psychiatric ward is beyond me. Let alone why this dude still actually has followers on Twitter and on their "mEtAnEt" community.
Saving this pic for references. Don't really expect to come at this thread just prefer reading and saving the memes instead of the actual craig wright issue

Craig Wright Must Face Trial Over Alleged $11B Bitcoin Fortune as Request for Summary Judgment Denied
...
Stick him in jail & throw away the key.

FYI, this is not a criminal trial. It's a lawsuit. There is no jail.

Craig Wright claims (without proof) that he is Satoshi, and that he has a million or so bitcoins (including bitcoins that were proven to not be his). Ira Kleiman claims that his deceased brother was partners with Wright and that his brother's estate owns half of those bitcoins.

Here is my prediction of the outcome: CSW will lose and Kleiman will be awarded half of the bitcoins. CSW will never deliver because he doesn't actually have them, but he will claim that he lost the keys in a boating accident. The lawsuits will go on until CSW loses everything.

To be honest, I don't really expect anything much about this trial since all the previous trials has proven that he can lie and extend this facade for a long time. He will probably find or forge another way to get away from the laws again.

Well, he owns at least $11 Billion in BTC as he claims. He could therefore afford to hire the best lawyers in town to take care of the cases. For him, he could spend his days doing what he loves, stress-free. Or does he own them? Either way, good luck to you, Satoshi. Grin

But fortunately enough, he doesn't own any of those coins lol.

How many trials has he faced till now?

I thought he might be behind bars by now. This guy needs it to rethink his next move and strategy.

He is responsible for his deeds and does purposely as well feel so like coming out and saying he is Satoshi etc and whole world now know that he is nothing more than liar. It’s strange though still he is out but may be soon law will take its action and will be given the spot where he needs to be for the act.

i don't really care enough for this trial because it is mainly between these two people and isn't going to change anything in the end.
the CSW crimes i (and i think most bitcoiners) care about is the identity fraud and scamming newbies (another form of fraud) and he is not and probably will not ever be on trial for these crimes because there is no private plaintiff (the real Satoshi) which is required to really put him in jail.

Hold on. So in the end, Kleiman still gets nothing even if he wins this lawsuit? If so, I don't know why Kleiman is clinging to the idea that Wright is Satoshi.

IIRC, there was another case that requires him to prove that he is the real Satoshi. Somebody please refresh my memory on that.

He should be because he has the audacity to claim other people's assets. He should be brave enough to face the consequences of his dirty actions. He tricked people and manipulates them into thinking that he really is the one and only Satoshi Nakamoto. It will prove if his public statements are accurate, that he's the owner of the 1.1 million bitcoin. He's finally getting the recognition that he wants, but sadly it is because of the fraud that he committed. But tbh, I don't really have an interest in him nor this trial because I have already heard enough with his false claim.

It took them too long to do it maybe now Craig has run out nonsense theory about him being Satoshi. He may be run out of money to pay them. Now he is facing the biggest challenge of his life where he maybe send to prison with his childish act. I mean, when the first time he claimed about being the real Satoshi didn't work, he didn't stopped with that. instead, he continue to spread that no matter what happened and look at him now he is going into something disatrious.

Well, he'd nothing to do with his life but just proclaim himself as Satoshi. He might just own the numbers (1.1mBTC) but not the keys that will prove him as the owner of this certain amount. He got this trial and he got acquitted but somehow nobody would like to believe him either. He's already out from having a good reputation and I don't think he needs either our sympathy.

Wright is a narcissist, he can’t code, he can’t sign a message from any early mined block let alone the Genesis block. The guy is a total moron, the sooner he is forgotten about the better. I’m sick of hearing about him tbh, I hope he doesn’t avoid jail time. He’s a slippery snake so a suspended sentence wouldn’t surprise me.

Raft upstream, swim to shore, play first, then stress later. LOL

That seem to be what Craig Wright will go through with the end result of the debate over bitcoin he claim. So far he has not been able to prove anything about the claim as he can only speak with the help of his lawyer. If he is right then he can prove anything about $11 billion bitcoin in court or at least he can transfer 1 of all bitcoin. I thought he was just lying because he didnt have the key.

CSW appears very entertained with this. He must be having fun undergoing trials and reading his name on newspapers over and over again. He must also love appearing in court with his suit and tie. I don't know what he feels but he might be feeling like he is someone like a VIP.

He should enjoy all this show because with this new update it looks like this will take some more time.

Once again the man will be on the spotlight and that is what he crave for I assume, so I don't think the man will feel bad even if he will be facing a lawsuit, maybe this another opportunity for him to try and convince the whole world that he is Satoshi Nakamoto.

Well, the way to prove that he is the owner of those 1.1M BTC is by signing a transaction, not with a Judgment, because maybe if he wins the case, he would be able to claim he is the owner, but that wouldn't be enough to spend them. Not his keys mean not his coins, that's how it works.

As far as I understand, the Judge is not going to decide the ownership  of those bitcoins.
Judge will decide what to do with a criminal who claims to be someone else to make money, fooling people around.

Lol, if he claims he has $11 billion, he can easily hire the best lawyers and his aim would be to delay the final verdict by as much as he can so that he can enjoy life with his fortune lol.
