I just started with Bitcoin and it's a bit confusing. Naturally, after creating a wallet, I want to buy bitcoins and load the wallet. The first thing I'm asked for is my wallet address. How do I find that, please? I don't see it immediately when I open the wallet or any of the tabs.

Thanks. Huh

Which wallet you're using?.
I give my personal opinion with experience, You should choose the coin base.
Coinbase is a decent path for amateurs to the on-ramp to BTC. Simply ensure you don't utilize their online wallet and move your btc to a wallet that you control your private keys

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

That could be a good way to start. First just start and try with an online wallets and later on when you got a bigger create your own wallet so you're the owner of the keys. You never know what happens to online wallet, like hackers.

bitcoin is bit tough to understand but if you really took interest in it. it is not that tough. you can also go to youtube for some tutorial videos

Youtube is also a good source of information. But you have to be careful with the links in the comments on Youtube. There are scammers active who are trying to get your logins with fake sites.

You can watch a tutorial on youtube if you don’t like to read an article on your specific crypto wallet. Just specify your search, some of them are not accurate by the given information. There are so many influencers with a large of followers might help you. You can also drop your message in the comment box and people who have experience in using that wallet then they can help you.

I hope this tip will worked.

I would recommend having multiple wallets btw.  A hardware wallet is best for the majority of people.  It's also not a bad idea to have a "hot wallet" which is an app on your phone, but just make sure you never leave your funds on an exchange. I would recommend using Trezor or Ledger.

Find your preferred exchange to buy your first Bitcoins and send it to your wallet's address.
What wallet are you using anyway?
Careful on what wallets you use, by the way.

And first start transferring with small amounts just to get used to hit and to learn to know what you are doing exactly.
He needs bitcoin for that and still confusing how to use it. Better practice using testnet wallet, this is very recommended to learning.

If he wants to use electrum, download it from the official website then change target into --testnet

EDIT: I looked at the "receive" tab, but didn't see anything labeled "address".

I understand that you don't even know HOW the address should look like, right? It's a set of numbers and letters (26-35 characters) that start with the number 1, 3, or bc1. For example, bc1qar0srrr7xfkvy5l643lydnw9re59gtzzwf5mdq - this is the address. But perhaps I just misunderstood you and you figured it out.

First, please edit in your main topic to tell us that you are using Electrum Wallet. It will help other members here no confusion about what wallet you are using.

Second, I don't know whether every type of electrum wallet (for windows/mac/etc) has a similar display or not. But here, I will show the electrum wallet for windows.

After logging in your wallet, you can use "Receiving wallet" as @o_e_l_e_o has explained above.
but remember if you are using the wallet on the "receive" menu, see the "Expires after", there will be some options from 10 minutes to never", it will depend on your needs, but better to click "Never".

You can also find some lists of your wallet by clicking "View (on the main menu)" -> "Show Addresses". You are right. there will be several lists of wallets and you can use one of them. In your receiving wallet, it may change in several periods (depending on the "Expires after". But you may not worry. If you use one of the green mark address, you can still get your BTC in your electrum wallet.

Additionally, you can also back up your private key by clicking "Wallet -> Prive Keys -> Export".
Ensure that you store your password, seeds, sign the message, and also private key securely. Never tell other people because it is a very crucial detail.

All of the above replies are good enough for you to guide in creating a wallet. And one thing that you should remember is that you should be careful in handling your private keys, keep it safely that nobody knows even your friends. Also, be careful in accessing your wallet, you must check the site that you've visited, a lot of phishing sites coming out, and this is a reason also why you lose control of your wallet.

That's the one: Electrum. I followed (I think!) the recommendations and went with that one.

If you're already using the Electrum wallet as a wallet address I think there are already a lot of tutorials online on how you could easily understand the wallet even in Youtube. You could just make a topic in the electrum section here in the forum if you encounter some issues or have some things that you do not understand. The link is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0. Make sure you download the correct electrum wallet because there is a lot of phishing software or scam software online. The link is also here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3456040.0.

It's better to just not use this function at all. The "Expires after" box just adds confusion to newbies who think that it means that addresses expire, or bitcoin sent after the expire time will somehow be lost or returned to sender. In reality all it does is put an expiry time warning in the QR code so if you quote someone a price they don't make a transaction after that quote has "expired" and the price has change, but it doesn't mean the address expires and it doesn't stop anybody from sending coins to that address. Much better to just copy the address directly from the addresses tab.

Additionally, you can also back up your private key by clicking "Wallet -> Prive Keys -> Export".
No need to. Provided OP has backed up his seed phrase when he create the wallet, then there is nothing to be gained from backing up individual private keys, and indeed exposing them is an unnecessary risk.

We have different types of wallet, where you can keep your money and it will be safe for you, if only you can follow their rules and do the necessary things that will not make scammer to know your private detials.
I think you can still get more details in the new beginner forum where new user easily understood the most trusted wallet, people like you can make use of.

Since you are new to this forum and have started with Bitcoin, I think you should choose a wallet first. But you need to keep your passwords or private keys secure; At any time you can fall prey to hackers and lose everything.
