For long, politicians have been skeptical about crypto/Blockchain tech as it provides an "escape route" from the existing monetary system controlled by governments worldwide. Some of them have seen the benefits of this emerging industry, showing their support for crypto. In the US, a presidential candidate named "Andrew Yang" publicly expressed his support for crypto/Blockchain technology. Other politicians have touched the subject lightly. All of this is good since it helps Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies grow in the mainstream world. The same politicians supporting this emerging industry, could perform legislations to make crypto/Blockchain tech more legitimate in the mainstream world. Yet, the number of politicians supporting crypto is very small compared to those who don't.

Which politicians support Bitcoin? Do you think world leaders will embrace crypto/Blockchain tech at its fullest? Or will they go against it? What impact will mainstream politics have in the future direction of Bitcoin? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

Actually i think a lot of politicians are at place where they are not able to publicly express their support  and endorse cryptocurrencies because  of a fear of alienating people within their own party many of whom are staunchly opposed to cryptocurrencies or perhaps because the general public as whole still is not educated enough about bitcoin and thinks of it as that thing for criminals.

Another important factor is that a lot of politicians around the world are corrupt and often have illicit proceeds from back end deals and such. I am sure plenty of them may hold this money in bitcoin as a way of hiding their assets or for quickly moving it abroad in case they get caught up in scandals back home. ( this is especially true for countries with heavy cross border and capital control restrictions.)

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

It is true that there are some figures or politicians who support Bitcoin, but the numbers are very small. I am sure that in the future
mainstream politics will support Bitcoin, it can have a big enough effect on Bitcoin. One of them Bitcoin will be legalized in many countries
and will make the price of Bitcoin more expensive, because surely Bitcoin demand will  increase dramatically. Not only that, there is
a possibility that Bitcoin will also be accepted as a global currency, hopefully more politicians will support Bitcoin.

In my country, there are some officials that are known to possess cryptocurrencies, but it's not like they are Bitcoin promoters or anything. There were some project laws on crypto regulations with none becoming the law. I think they a politician that supports Bitcoin is likely to be young and progressive. Conservatives tend to believe that Bitcoin is shady, but in general, I don't think that political agenda is relevant (Bitcoin can be used by libertarians and terrorist muslim fundamentalists alike).

They currently only see bitcoin as a profitable but risky investment, limiting their support for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

I think not only politicians are seeing it this way but almost everybody does. Most people buy bitcoin because of the profit they want to make while hodling it, so it cuts into many people that uses bitcoin is mostly for investment.

Having politicians who support Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency is going to be controversial because as of right now people only heard of Bitcoin only because of the illegal activities in the dark web. It may change int he future when blockchain and crypto will be widely known that we'd be using it almost every day.

The name Andrew "Yang" seems Chinese, it's going to be a long shot for him.

Politicians are a part of the government. What we are observing now that many countries stand against Bitcoin. That means at the same time, politicians are against as well for a democratic country's. Different case for monarchy countries, even there is politicians but they can't express their opinions. On the other hand, before support bitcoin a politician should learn about bitcoin technology, so he can explain to the government and public as well. I am wondering have they enough time to learn about bitcoin if they are not experts from the beginning? But I have to admit that if politicians support bitcoin then it would keep role on bitcoin adaption.

The blockchain has a good future since it can offer several development opportunities that will be helpful in the future generation. It's just that, a lot of politicians are still not knowledgable enough with blockchain tech or crypto that's why they oppose because they still have not seen what it can offer. But since we are seeing some government/politicians who are open towards crypto and blockchain adoption, it means that there's always a possibility that the percentage of these politicians who are positive for crypto will still grow. Not everyone will support crypto/blockchain but as for others, it will take time and education for them to realize what it can offer.

For being decentralized coin, government are not able to track it properly. Still there are some government who are not permitting bitcoin as legal currency. But most of the countries are talking about blockchain technology.

In some country, government support and somewhere it was done by the politician to hide their corrupted money. Whatever itself, it will increase the demand of cryptocurrency in the market and increase the flow of it. Good news is many country had increased their demand of bitcoin and crypto currency and make people to inverse fear less.

Going against crypto will never be in the favor (good) of politicians or governments, as they will go against people and people are - who make these politicians. They should look for some ways to stop people who rescue from taxes and save themselves from paying them, and should come up with tight regulations so that both the ends* will remain happy in the long run.

Any politicization who realize they could get additional donation by accepting Bitcoin. At very least least they claim they support Bitcoin, even though usually they'll forget about Bitcoin afterwards.

Doesn't mean it isn't a good thing, it's a win win for both sides IMO.

(....)
Some government or politicians are becoming neutral when it terms on Bitcoin or cryptocurrency because we all know that not all people are totally agree to use Bitcoin. That's why there are some country that are extremely strict when it terms on using Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency.
But we all know also what Bitcoin can do in the finance, it is helpful on every people, a freedom on finance what we are looking for.
It's still early, we still have a lot to witness soon.

Politician's support for bitcoin can appear in 3 ways by me, are 1.are they supporting it for the improvement of the state or country's economy or is it for personal financial improvement or just promotion of bitcoin/cryptocurrency.
2. Is the support as government body or individual investment.
However, if a politician supports without a selfish interest, it is still a sign of socializing because on he/she  know what it is about the rate of threatening other involved person's will be reduced.likewise if it is for the government. It will be for the quick development if digital currency.

There are a lot of reasons why they possibly support the use of bitcoin.

1. They are really want to. promote the effectiveness of the bitcoin for making a faster, and secured transaction to help up the economy and gives a good and bright future regarding its purpose.

2. They want to use the bitcoin and use this to their monopoly plans. If you can create your own exchange and wallet you can encourage others to support this because they think it gives more efficiency to them instead you can secretly make a hidden transaction on it.

Ps. Just my opinion.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced last week that they were working on blockchain and bitcoin. I think the reason behind this announcement is the increasing public interest in cryptocurrencies resulting from the recent high inflation rates.

I think we need to be realistic, in particular when it comes to politicians and which side they favour. We all know that people have their own agendas and if a government figure backs up something it is usually because they have a stake in it, or they think is what the majority would like to hear. Nothing but false pretences.

What would be interesting to see is what type of active engagement these people take to support their cause, in this case their 'alliance' to crypto. Only then can we put more trust into what these people are saying, let the evidence speak for itself.

Governments from different countries up until now is still against Bitcoin for there is still lack of knowledge and understanding on their part on how things are going after using Bitcoin. We cannot say how long and when will be the time that those government politicians can fully understand everything about Bitcoin and why people are pushing it through to make it legal because of the perks associated on using this kind of currency. Maybe now they are still against it for some reason but maybe tomorrow or the next upcoming days, weeks, months or even years, we cannot say but there is a possibility that government will understand the nature of Bitcoin and realize its importance and usage.

I think this is also one of the reasons or factor affecting why we only know few of those politicians who support Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies because of such feel that they might feel unwanted that is indeed because not all people are still understanding and having prior knowledge about Bitcoin as a whole.

Which politicians support Bitcoin? Do you think world leaders will embrace crypto/Blockchain tech at its fullest? Or will they go against it? What impact will mainstream politics have in the future direction of Bitcoin? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

Government supports what is beneficial for them to support.

of course! they may even have more BTC on their wallets right now than some of the Bitcoin casinos operating today. if you own a bag of BTC you would likely want the price to go up and will likely act like the shill accounts promoting their shitcoin. if i am a politician from israel, i would probably be buying as much as i can while also promoting to comrades.

before the world discovers that governments print bills tirelessly everyday, they should all be buying BTC.

Good news that the popularities are really emerging from time to time, we've seen politicians start to accepts the system, they are not just using it from laundering but also allowing people inside their jurisdictions to continue using this system.

It's best though that the government who recognized the functions and not just by politicians who have
vested interest to use the system.

I have seen in our country also not many politicians truly understand the bitcoin. based on the media reports or just reading negative news only they demand that it should not be allowed as it is threat, people lose money etc. They are not ready to understand the advantages or deeply go through it and this is where it hurts the most.

This can be a reason for slow adoption rate for bitcoin because politicians have the ability to make influence in government decision because politicians are part of the government. To influence bitcoin adoption, these politicians have a greater role to play, so until they start having such positive impact.
