The performance of Dominik Thiem is very impressive today. I would not have expected him to have so few problems with J. Sock in the first two movements. Especially the first set with 6:1 speaks volumes and has shown in which top form Thiem is at the moment - when he really gets into the game.

I'm curious whether the two finalists of the last two years will make it back to the finals or meet each other beforehand?

According to the grid, they can't meet at all before the semi-final, they are each in the other half:



On paper, Thiem would have the easier group in my opinion, Nadal has to pass Zverev to reach the semi-finals, who is also playing in very good form at the moment

Thanks for the overview, so definitely not a new edition of the finals of the last two years. According to the favorites, it should be a final Djokovic vs. Nadal / Thiem. That's correct Nadal has the difficult way, but in Paris Nadal is a power.

Be careful Djokovic is in a great shape this year, he just destroyed Berankis in 1h23 today (6-1,6-2,6-2) after a victory against Ymer in 1h38 (6-0,6-2,6-3)

Serena not being her best in the US open cant be used to judge her performance in the French open and I believe she actually planned to be the winner of this year French open before she had to withdraw because of her achilles injury. Besides, by looking at her during her interview you will feel that she was hurt.

Now that Serena Williams is out of the competition, I expect Simona Halep or Karolina Pliskova to be the winner of this year's women French open.

I am a betting man and when i place a bet i look at their recent performance rather than their past glories to predict how far they can go and how they will perform if they have an off day on the court. She was struggling with her fitness and it was evident in the US open and now she had to withdraw from the tournament because of injury. If you are picking the event winner and if you picked Serena Williams you would lose money if you are not looking at their recent performance.
In my view the dark horse of the tournament is Garbine Muguruza and she might win the tournament. In men's i am picking Novak Djokovic.

You're betting man indeed but you seems not to understand that even using players current performance category to predict who's going to win the game is still an incomplete strategy and it will fail you so bad because the game venue surface also play an important when predicting the winner of a tennis game cause some player are good in clay surface while some are good in hardcourt.

Now that he has won his maiden Grand Slam at the US Open in September 2020, he is playing like a true Grand Slam champion who will try to make it a hat-trick of consecutive French Open finals  

His record at the French Open is excellent considering he has been living in the era of Nadal:

Usually I watch the tournament at work but this time I wasn't watching, too bad ! I find it funny how his name and surname are so French. From what I'm hearing he was good at surprising the Swiss.

I wouldn't bet on him against Thiem, though, what do you think ?

Dominic Thiem was not at his best performance, but was able to beat Norway's Casper Ruud. Thiem also feels that his level of play
has increased after defeating Ruud, and will advance to the fourth round of the 2020 French Open. Casper Ruud wants to follow in
the footsteps of his father Christian Ruud who made it to the fourth round at the 1997 Australian Open. But Casper's performance
was not strong enough to overthrow Dominic Thiem. Next, Thiem will challenge Hugo Gaston, who is still 20 years old, where Hugo

So you are aware that certain players are good in certain conditions and what is the strong point of Serena Williams, how many clay tournaments she won, majority of her wins are in hard court and she just won three French Open titles even during her prime playing days and she is not in her prime form after the pregnancy and she lost many matches after that and coming into this series she was already having injury.

You might analyse differently but the way i go about is to take into account their recent performance than the entire career average and performance.

Also I don't think it's age in itself that takes its toll on her, at least not yet, but rather the length of her career. Having exerted her body day in, day out, for most of her life, for 25 years at a very high level, every injury, every ache, is not something new, it's something that is coming back. So at some point it's too much.

I dont know how many clay games Serena Williams have won but I understand most of her winning her through hard court. However, you seems not to understand that for her to hold the title of winning the most singles women's matches mean she had gone through different surface games and about her performance after the pregnancy is normal cause every woman give a part of herself to her baby.
In this year's French open, she had a strong point if the injury does not happen to her.

For people like Zverev which I expect to see in quater or semi final to be out of the game in fourth round, will could see a new champion in this year French open if Nadal was unable to beat J Sinner which rule of Zverev of this year French open.

Yesterday game was hard for him (Thiem) but he still manages to win in style and I hope he also wins tomorrow quarter-final against D. @JollyGood I’m not sure why you thought that Djokovic would loose this match, because he’s had an amazing streak in 2020, hence there was no way he would have lost this match. Furthermore Djokovic has won this match comfortably, and now like you’ll I'm eagerly waiting for his clash with Nadal (if that happens), but in that match I’ll be rooting for Nadal to beat Djokovic.
