Cross betting feeling.

Days ago I wrote on a post that refers to cycling, of which I am a follower not only because of the intrinsic fact that I like sports, but also that in my hometown there is an important cycling race, so I have seen cycling since I was a child, this  them created a connection to this sport, although I never felt passion to practice but yes to continue as a spectator.

So now with this NBA final the theme "reverberates" in my head, how incredible it would be to see the LA Laker champions and what a big tribute it would be, even more than the title itself.

The subject of sports betting, is today the reason why many follow certain sports, come on! there is nothing wrong with that, okay.
But, what happens to the real reason that led us to follow a specific sport, either because we practice it or we simply like it.(?)

Are the bets dominating us in that preference?

The above is not alone, it has the addition, that although you follow your favorite sport and bet on it, and though you are a fan of a specific team, you end up betting against it.

I would like to clarify something, you must take out the professional or the reasoning of the bet, that is, let's not fall into the technicality of:
"... In a sports bet, the result is what matters."
...and yes! ok.

But understand me this topic is not for that user who is betting on everything in sports matters from a professional point of view, in fact I know gamblers who can know everything about the LA Lakers, they can even know more about Lebron James than any fan himself, but ithey don't even enjoy watching an NBA game, in fact they wait for the result of the confrontation, just like a lottery game, they only ask what number resulted winner.

So to what extent some are losing the essence of enjoying listening, watching a game without the pressure of who wins or loses with the simple result of the sadness of a fan and the true pain of the fan . Or quite the opposite, the joy of shouting, we won, no! for the essence of having hit the bet with your favorite team.

You will bet against the team of your dreams, the one that you follow all your life, it would good to see it lose just for the enjoyment of winning a bet. (!?)

We are getting to the point of betting against our true favorite teams and even real sports tastes, so just by betting.

What would the team be? (without predictions of odds, casinos, odds, etc) that you always to beting on today, tomorrow and always as a true fan. (e.g. like that Leicester fan  )

I feel you. Some people are seeing sports betting as a job or as an investment rather than something to be enjoyed. I know a few people who are not really die-hard fans of the game but shell out huge amounts of money when the odds are good for a hyped match. They enjoy the aspect of 'winning' the bet, but not the sport itself since that's what they only wanted after all and I think that is okay. Not everyone has the same taste and preference when it comes to sports and entertainment,

As for the favorites, I sometimes feel conflicted whenever my favorites are against a much better opponent in terms of stats and recent performance. Betting against my favorite team does not mean 'betrayal' in any way, or something that should deeply be concerned about--at least for me. I still bet on enemy teams if the chances of winning and the returns are quite good. I can still support my teams in some other ways, so I guess it's not really that bad if I choose another team to take my bet on.

One of important things in making money is NOT to get emotional. If you have a team who is your favorite, keep it like that but dont bet just because they are your fav, rather if you are more interested in betting than the game then try to avoid the games that specific team is playing on.

You cant make money if you follow your emotions - either you end up lucky there or your dont. What is more logical is following track records of teams and players. Proper sports bettors keep extensive analysis of games and use that to make a prediction. It does not mean that luck will not matter here, it will but you have applied your skills too.

Keep the sports feelings and betting 5-feet apart, do not let them mix. It will end up bad. But it all depends on how you take it. Some people are so passionate that they will lose betting on their favorite team but still remain happy. Talking from a diligent point if view that is a stupid thing to do.

I don't think the majority of the people follow the sports that they are into because of sports betting. It's almost always because they like watching the game and be entertained. The majority would be IMO, just like it. It's a risk for you, so if you want money, then go, but most of the time, fans just enjoy it.

If my favorite team is up against someone better, I would still bet on my favorite team. I'm that kind of gambler and fan. I am letting emotions ruin it. Lol.

Some stats fans just check the results and they didn't even watch a single minute. They might be the ones who are in it for the money.

I would never bet on something I don't understand. If I know it a little bit, maybe, but most of the time, I stay away from things that I might lose. I don't look at it in an odd way. I'm into it emotionally if it's my favorite team. That's a bad idea though. Lol.

I remember back then as a regular follower of important football matches, I didn't really see any sport-betting center. Maybe they existed then in very number (than what we have today), I don't know.  I was only interested in watching my favorite coach and players in their matches. I think I gradually stop watching football matches and started losing strong interest in football when the coach was transfered or removed.     Still don't really know for sure if they(coach, favorite players, etc) were the main reason I became a regular watcher of football matches.

In regards to fans betting against their clubs/teams, I think there is nothing really wrong in that, especially if they are doing it to be honest about the matches their favorite clubs/teams are involved in, their current fitness, their reaction to different environments, etc. What should be problem is betting due to love for money than your favorite teams, or betting due to greed.
 I guess this^ can be applicable to the team/club you mentioned.

By the way, I think I would prefer to bet on things I'm passionate about and I follow/know really well.

Well here there is no conflict of interest: monetary or sentimental in fact, I think fair what you say, you continue supporting him in another way.

The point is to remove the gambler's cape or I repeat:

The point is that being a true fan does not have to put you on the extremes, bet according to your possibilities and the probabilities of your team, let's go! we are speaking without technicality, this is a little more about the depth of a simple bet.

Just as you mention: "not getting emotional" to gamble, is the point, how much we are going to suppress the true emotion for a bet. Analyze yourself in that sense, even if you do not have emotional problems with sports betting on a related factor to determine if you really are a follower of a certain sport.

@Ucy so is ! Enjoying watching a game or a certain sport does not lie in having to be a fan either, the Olympic games are perhaps the best example of that.

Most of those who bet are the ones who followed the sports and the team players that is why they trust the team so much even when it's against an advantageous opponent. Due to being a fan sometimes they just bet to the individual player and how much points they are going to make in the particular game, they don't even care of the game result.

Its actually divided and this had been part of the reality on where there are people whom do play sports bet and stick out into the games on where they do know about that much and stick into its favorite but there are instances that we would changed up our decisions if we do saw that there's a chance of winning against into your favorite team.When it comes to sticking out on a team because you are a die hard fan then its not new anymore and just let them be on how they do gonna enjoy their bets even they do lose but still they do had that contentment inside since they had supported on the team they do like.For the topic of cross bet on other sports without even knowing it much then majority had already experienced this one.We do gamble and of course its just normal for us to consider to make out bets thats outside of our scope by just simply sticking out

There are a lot of fans like you, rooting for the team on every game even if they are not betting. Because not all die-hard fans are gamblers. But for many gamblers as well as fans, they not only bet on their favourites but even on their opponents as long as they feel who is in the advantage for that particular game.

There are a lot of fans like you, rooting for the team on every game even if they are not betting. Because not all die-hard fans are gamblers. But for many gamblers as well as fans, they not only bet on their favourites but even on their opponents as long as they feel who is in the advantage for that particular game.

Actually i had the same behavior and i do know several sports and its just normal for us to had that favorite team which you would stick on making bets unto them
but as mentioned where there are time where you do bet against on the team you do like and of course when you do see some opportunity or chances then
its just normal for you to act on what should really be done.Those view of yours are bound to be changed depending if you are really aiming on making profits

I suspect certain bettors can't afford to bet against the teams they like for emotional reasons.  It's important to bet honestly, I believe. That is one of the ways to become a good bettor.   Beside, one of the importance of prediction/betting market is to find people who are skilled/talented at predictions and use them for good purposes... for example, you could have a weather prediction site/betting-competition and have people bet on future weather conditions.  Those who are consistently correct could be followed by people for accurate/fair daily weather predictions

there are now devices to know the weather accurately and no need to hire a person that is expert at predicting on it .

predicting is verry inacurate and people just cant rely on it  . betting market is built for business and not the other way around  . there a big difference between a true bettor and a fan . fan arent a true bettor because if they say they will place a bet they will place on their supported teams but a true bettor will bet on anything that what his heart says  .

Sports betting has to be treated seriously if you like to succeed on it, it's not like you know it all because you know the game, that's just the tip of the iceberg as you need to go deep in order to fully understand the science of betting, of course experience matters so eventually you have to expect that you'll succeed in the long run.

I am in between. There are times when I bet for the sake of money or winning. There are also times when I place a bet for the sake of trying to stand by my team or athlete or to show my genuine support. But, more often than not, the smaller bet would go with the latter.

I also placed bets on sports which I am neither familiar nor a fan of. Just recently I placed a bet on a rugby match. I don't play the game. Neither am I really familiar with how it is played. But since for some reasons I spent a little time looking at the league stats, I thought of placing a little bet as well.

One thing I learn in sports betting is you can't be bias if you want to win. If we love a certain team or a player, we will keep betting on his team because we are bias, and that would affect our chances of winning as the real chances are not calculated by how we feel but the way we analyze the stats and in order to do the job effectively, there should no feelings involve.

For example, may favorite player is Lebron James and I bet on this team every time.

We can use the Denver series betting on the Lakers using the ATS since that gives good odds.

Game 5 Lakers was -5 = result (win and covered)
Game 4 Lakers was -6 = result (win and push)
Game 3 Lakers was -6.5 = result (loss )
Game 2 Lakers was -7.5 =result (win but did not cover)
Game 1 Lakers was -7 =result (win and covered)

As you can see, if you are betting on the ATS, you will get 2-2 which means you lose due to the juice you have to pay every bet.

I bet on my favorite league and every time I watch the game, I’m really having fun. If you don’t know much about the game or didn’t like it that much, then its fine since betting is gambling, you bet to win while watching with intense game, I’m sure you’ll like it later on. Sports betting requires good analysis as well, so there’s an advantage if you know the game you’re betting for.

Some people do their bets of what they feel to win, obviously, I did oftentimes. Maybe I was not a sports bettor but I don't want to change myself either. The only thing I did is I put money on the team that I want and I don't see it wrong. No matter if I lose but at least I was enjoyed watching the game. Mix emotions have you feel when you are watching your team won the game, it means a lot than winning on your bets.
