Bookmakers exploit the fact that we want our favourites to win. If you want to bet on City A winning a football match against City B, the worst place you can make the bet is in City A, you would get better odds making it in City B. Of course a part of giving worse odds is that a large proportion of people are betting on the local favourite, so they have to cover potential losses... but it's undeniable that they are exploiting people who are making emotional decisions.
Of course some people have been known to do the opposite - if England are playing a big football match and I want them to win, it is tempting to place a bet on them losing, so that if they win I'm happy, and if they lose at least I make some profit.

I do love some sports and always bet on my favorite team despite that they are not that strong well I just want to show my to support with them though sometimes I also bet on their opponent especially the top teams aside from them. Same for me, especially during big tournaments I really enjoy getting on the matches. I believe that biases for "sports feelings" are the highest during international tournaments. For example during the football Worldcup a lot of people are getting on their own country without really caring about the odds to win. It's very likely that big players in the betting world are exploiting such behaviour. Once the odds and payouts are getting to far out of hand they are just betting against it. But these tournaments like champions league only happen once a year, or worldcups every 4 years, that people just don't care. It's more about the feeling that making money on my opinion.

We idolize team for winning the good games but in gambling, we should not let our emotion decide for us because we will lose money if your strategy is like this. There are a lot of fans like you, rooting for the team on every game even if they are not betting. Because not all die-hard fans are gamblers. But for many gamblers as well as fans, they not only bet on their favourites but even on their opponents as long as they feel who is in the advantage for that particular game.

I am a die hard fans of my local basketball team here and would not even think of betting against them, when you are betting it's like you are wishing the team that you bet on to win the game, I'm not going to wish my favourite team to lose because I bet on their opponent so if I am going to bet it will be on my favourite team and against their weak opponents.

As you know, our favorite teams are surely not that below average in terms of overall team stats on that specific league therefore expect odds for them aren't catchy or worthy to bet.

Not unless you are into picking a handicap to support your favorite team.

Sport is entertainment and people often do it for their refreshments and relaxation in their free time. Some people take it as their profession that they are earning via playing on the ground. Another group is doing sports bet to earn as they predict and then win or lose.

In my thinking, real sports feel like a total refreshment to the body and we got the relaxation in a short period. In the long run, it takes our fitness and healthy body which is needed to survive.

On the other hand, sports bet is a thing which is done for enjoyment in my free time and I believe that many people are the same as me who are using it for enjoyment. The feel will different so far.

Personally I never bet sports that I don't enjoy.  If I don't like the sport that means that I don't watch it and I'm not paying attention to the particulars that I'd need to know in order to make an educated bet.  Personally I mainly just bet NFL Football because it's my favorite sport , played it growing up, and understand it the most. 

Betting sports you don't love can be pretty risky if you're not constantly keeping up with it.  Even baseball which I love I don't bet, too unpredictable.  I guess I'm not a huge gambler compared to some either.

Come on! that's the point, it's about gambling or having fun,  or at least know which side you are on, if you are from Sports Betting / Real "Sports Feelings" or you live in both worlds.

The best way to guarantee getting entertain in gambling is don't bet huge amount of money as that would help you to enjoy without thinking much of your bet, when you bet a huge amount it's understandable that somehow we feel frustrated as losing does really bring a bad feeling as a gambler. Actually we have the same views in regards to sports that will be betting because i would rather stay away of the game and remain watching than being a traitor to my favorite team.

I think it's important for bettors to bet honestly or bet based on truth/fact and not emotionally. Betting against the team you love doesn't me you hate them. It should be for the integrity of the system, for the benefit of people and for the betting/prediction community. If you see reasons to bet against your team, I believe it's better to bet honestly against them, as long as it isn't for selfish reasons. It's more like saying "this team have really good stats, they did their job well, I think they will win".. I would bet this way unless I believe miracle could happen or GOD can turn things around in favour of the poorly prepared team

We have different opinion about this. Actually I feel more confident betting against my team because I know very how they perform and I can easily know if they can't beat there opponents rather than when I'm with them. And also I have reason to be happy when my bet was loss because my favorite team win. I do this kind of rarely because there's only few team that stronger to my favorite team and I never bet when they both have almost same stats.

This is a good point. Being successful in sports betting is due in large part to having better knowledge than most people - and a big part of this is familiarity. We can't be expected to know every last detail across all teams, but for our own team it is quite natural that we have a deeper understanding. Really it makes a lot more sense to bet for/against your own team than it does to do the same for other teams where you lack that specialist knowledge.

make sense but not all the  time your team are going to play and if your an active gambler you have no choice but to bet on random teams . we better familiarize our self to them and not just to the team that we love the most  . if you have a real feeling for that specific team , skipping bets sometimes wont hurt  that much if this team that your supporting are playing  .

For successful betting, we must think about the chance of winning and choose the one that has a great chance of winning. So we can't just pick the one that we think is going to win a match. Of course, we will found ourselves in a dilemma when the time to bet one of our favorite teams is on the list. And the best way that always comes into our minds to solve this dilemma is by not placing a bet.

But if we have to make a bet, we shouldn't bet with our hearts because our favorite doesn't always come out to be the winner.

Definitely, by experience I can say that it's really not gonna help us to win as most of the time that decision is wrong. Bookies knows most gamblers follows their heart so it's easy for them to manipulate the odds to attract public bets while knowing the other side has a better chance.

The public is following their hearts by betting on their favorite team, the smart money are going the other side, that's why majority loses in sports betting.
