It shows that it has been downloaded 63 times already, so we might hear more crypto enthusiast coming out and claiming that they have been fallen victim from this malicious apps. So be careful when using Google Playstore, and don't blindly downloading any apps without verifying it.

Given that Uniswap doesn't have an official app, every app that has "Uniswap" in its title and appearing in search results can and should be considered fake one. In this particular case, it is very easy to detect a malicious impersonator. In other cases, to avoid being scammed please make sure that the app you are downloading has a sufficient number of downloads. Generally, a fake version has several times less downloads than an official version. Look at permissions the app asking for. If a calculator wants an access to your SMS, you should be careful. This is why we should be careful enough not to download anything you think it's safe since google playstore doesn't have a strict rules when someone wants their app on google playstore. They will only removed the app if the app is reported many times or there is someone who is willing to get the apo removed on playstore.

With the current hipe of DEFI and UNI tokens, I fear many have already fallen for this trap. There are already 63 reviews on it and a rating of 3.9 which is pretty good for an app. These are few things that will let users to download the app and give it a try.

Scammers are all around however when it's google store things are getting terrible. That is the reason I feel like everywhere I turn it’s fraud. It's look like the number of malicious apps on the Google Store increases and turn into an ugly place. These days, it's not all that simple to spot fake apps and specially it's very tough when it's DeFi hype time. We need to more careful when interact such third party apps.

I'm not sure how legitimate the link apptopia is, but I guess it's a scam? It has ratings there that has multiple five stars as well. People might get scammed with that as well. They must have bought the ratings because it has reviews. Lol.

Again another scamming platform that discovered came from the Google play store, we'll this kind of issue is not new because they don't have good security in publishing an application, most of the time once they paid they already publish the application disregard the safety of the users. Good job to OP to give another awareness to the members about this kind of application. Sometimes there are newbies that have been clicked baited and fallen into this trap because they are the prone they don't have any kind of ideas what they need to do.

It's better to make always a background check to keep aware of the things that may happen if you are just a beginner into this kind of scams.

IMHO, It's very hard for Google to create algorithm to determine whether the app is malicious or not because the code used on the fake uniswap is just like a typical app. The only thing that make it a scam was its use the hacker address on deposit address of the app which is too hard to determine by the bot. We can't blame Google solely on this matter because the user should research first whether uniswap officially announce this app or not before using it. We all know that there are tons of fake/scam wallet available on play store. The only thing we do to prevent it is to report it or be cautious.

I kinda agree, I think its obviously like Google condones these kinds of things in this platform since they allowed it easily without even filtering.

Also since Uniswap airdrop is a trend only a lot of phishing website emerge online trying to victimize some users that have a Uniswap or maybe get a Uniswap in the past airdrop.

IMHO, It's very hard for Google to create algorithm to determine whether the app is malicious or not because the code used on the fake uniswap is just like a typical app. The only thing that make it a scam was its use the hacker address on deposit address of the app which is too hard to determine by the bot. We can't blame Google solely on this matter because the user should research first whether uniswap officially announce this app or not before using it. We all know that there are tons of fake/scam wallet available on play store. The only thing we do to prevent it is to report it or be cautious.

If their algorithm cannot determine which is fake/phishing or not, then they should have someone to manually check to see what these apps are. Not just for crypto, but everything available on their store.

I would agree that this criminals might be using a way to get around their algorithm. But with so many reports on it, they should have done something by now to at least filter out the apps or make a review again once it is already on their store? So for me, they should be held accountable at least, because they are simply allowing it to happen multiple times already. And it seems they are falling on their deaf ear.
