https://twitter.com/bitcointalkOfficial Bitcointalk account has not posted anything on Twitter for more than two years and I think it is time to reactivate it and make periodic tweets, maybe including number of total forum users, number of posts, new users and posts per week, or maybe even screenshots of best posts or other stats. We know that CEO Jack Dorsey is a big Bitcoin supporter and that he even said there are some ideas to use blockchain for Twitter. Twitter is very popular and it can bring new people in forum and create real conversation. What do you think about this idea and do you know who controls Bitcointalk Twitter account?Update: Is anyone else interested in starting a new unofficial Bitcointalk twitter account with basic weekly updates?

That would be nice, and by the way, to have an active account on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. But looking at the forum design I don't have much hope. This forum seems to be a remote corner of the internet, without much visibility, only for geeks.
Those who are looking for information about bitcoin, will find it, but the rest will not appear by chance.
I guess those who run it are fine like that, and don't think they need to expand much further but any other company with internet visibility works a lot these days its social networks.

What do you think about this idea and do you know who controls Bitcointalk Twitter account?
theymos has full access to the twitter account, given that Cøbra is no longer associated with Bitcointalk.org and it would be logical to assume that the twitter account is part of the forum. I don’t think the bitcointalk account can be turned into a good marketing tool, although I agree that posting news on twitter would be useful. In addition, theymos's current twitter account is also inactive, so the lack of interest in this platform can extend to twitter/bitcointalk. I am not claiming, but I think you will agree that he does not spend all day working on the forum and probably when he has time, there are many interesting or important things that fight for his attention. This forum seems to be a remote corner of the internet, without much visibility, only for geeks.
If you look at the statistics, you will see that Bitcointalk ranks 11th in the SMF rating.

Official Bitcointalk account has not posted anything on Twitter for more than two years Mainly because it is used as a means to communicate serious issues with the forum and the servers it is on. Some might say it is a good thing that there are no new messages Twitter @bitcointalk is official, but I only use it for outage notices and such. If there are no problems, then there will be no @bitcointalk messages.
I don't use social media. If you think that some social media functionality would be useful (such as pointing to interesting posts), feel free to do it yourself. If it's an interesting project, I might be willing to create APIs to help you. But since I don't use these sites, I don't even know what people would want.

What do you think about this idea and do you know who controls Bitcointalk Twitter account?
That's the problem, people running Twitter that don't exist, are all busy with their own business. However, Twitter is prone to being hacked, fear of being hacked, and spreading bad information on behalf of the Bitcointalk Forum, can lead the forum in a negative direction. In my opinion, the information in this forum has already exceeded the information circulating on Twitter. My thoughts are that if Twitter Bitcointalk is active there will be more spam to weigh useful information, this is my thought. I think Twitter like this is better, on Disable.
If I remember correctly bitcointalk forum was also hacked several times.
yes true, though, the forum was hacked, but it can be overcome, because it doesn't have to go through a third party. If, twitter must have third party procedures. And @theymos must serve spam every day. What I want to say is: does @theymos have the time to serve Everyone who joins twitter, that's the case, however, logically if, @theymos has time up and running Twitter Bitcointalk, maybe it's been up and running since then and until now, maybe.

There's a saying in our local, I don't know the exact English version of that sentence. It's like, "Who is in need, will find the GOD." In other words, necessity is the mother of invention. People who have interest in bitcoin, will certainly be landed here one day. That's how people get into this forum. Otherwise, we wouldn't have such huge members in the forum. Anyway, it would be good to have some activity but I think theymos don't have times to maintain a lot of work regarding forum.

~ What do you think about this idea and do you know who controls Bitcointalk Twitter account?
In my personal point of view, the idea of the official bitcointalk twitter account to become active will be for better or worse of our community. There might be more spammers and scammers that will come here, while this may be true, there could also be more bitcoin supporters/followers that can join us here, making some good contributions into our community here. I love the idea of bitcointalk being active on other social media, to inform how this community grows over time, and to inform anyone on social media what bitcointalk can offer to them. I'll retweet every tweets of bitcointalk if that happened.

This is exactly the concern I was going to raise. Having the official bitcointalkforum twitter page isn't a bad idea as it create room for more publicity based on retweets from members but then, this is very much the same as a forum user with a twitter account, tweeting about bitcoins and Altcoins as well though, the question of doubt will continue to arise with as to it's authenticity. Clearly the influx of members to the forum is sure as rise and with it, the issue of spamming, plagiarism and spreading of wrong information would be more frequent, burdening the shoulders of forum moderators with the need to keep the serenity of the forum as it were but then, the growth of the community would be archived for sure.

So be it, as an exception, I will tell you a secret. He Who Must Not Be Named offered theymos an idea of how BTC and bitcointalk could go viral. So theymos is just waiting for the right moment to tweet about it. And don't worry too much, we don't have many options. Either we learn something from what Satoshi said in a PM about forks and other controversial topics, or theymos will say that he destroyed this information, citing confidentiality. (which by the way is also not bad).I'll probably release Satoshi's PMs and logged IPs addresses in ~8 years. This'd probably be of great historical interest. (Though he always used Tor, as far as I can tell.)
Anyway, such a tweet would be a surprise to everyone.

That was a great idea that we spread the use of the forum into different social media today this is the easiest way to spread the news immediately and also there are a lot of people today getting curious about the cryptocurrency its a good start we have this kind of bitcointalk account, but the problem is who is the one hold the account? theymos only? or even the other staff?, Also if we create like that kind of account and promote this on social media it needs to have a good banner and other kinds of stuff to promote the content and quality of our forum. Overall I like the idea of spreading this.

Really? I thought he still had some sort of serious pull as far as the forum is concerned (though I'll admit I don't keep a close eye on forum politics). How long has it been since Cobra hasn't been "associated" with bitcointalk? I don’t think the bitcointalk account can be turned into a good marketing tool, although I agree that posting news on twitter would be useful. News about what, though? It's not like there's a hell of a lot going on here that deserves a tweet. Plus, IMO Twitter is a piece of shit social media tool that does humanity more harm than good. I'd be just fine if bitcointalk had no Twitter, Facebook, or any other social media presence. Its very existence is enough for me, and those other sites are just extraneous distractions.

How long has it been since Cøbra hasn't been "associated" with bitcointalk? Well, I'm not talking about influence, they can remain friends, it's their own business. Their paths finally parted ways a few years ago, theymos is not related to bitcoin.org and Cøbra is not related to bitcointalk.ogr. That's why I assumed theymos is the only owner of the twitter account (since it's a bitcointalk asset). News about what, though? It's not like there's a hell of a lot going on here that deserves a tweet. Plus, IMO Twitter is a piece of shit social media tool that does humanity more harm than good. Yes, I agree, as I said earlier and added in what form I see the publication of news. And don't worry too much, we don't have many options. And imagine this, if that bitcointalk twitter account is very much active and then this happen: Twitter Hack Alert - Don't trust it now!. I'm sure the hackers are going to used that bitcointalk twitter account and victimized many crypto supporters and it's possible that the amount would be huge if our twitter account is involved on that fateful day. So it's better if that twitter account remains inactive in a centralized platform like Twitter.

Twitter has its very short word-count limitations that does not fit messages from Bitcointalk. The forum is a text based forum and the admin can not write a tweet to convey his idea. You can not copy and paste a topic on the forum into Twitter. It will exceed total character limits, certainly. I know people always find out a way to convey their ideas on a platform they fall in love to use. Twitter, is it vulnerable to hacks? It is from the wave of hack in July 2020. Twitter accounts of major tech figures, crypto exchanges and Joe Biden compromised in far-reaching attackI don't see the forum needs to use Twitter as another channel to communicate with bitcoin and crypto communities. It is never good to build up your house on others' lands.

What the fuck?! Did you even read what I said and suggested at all?? Why would you use Twitter as forum with many characters? You ever hear about one thing called screenshots? Twitter, is it vulnerable to hacks?

You've had the answer from Rizzrack: Official Bitcointalk account has not posted anything on Twitter for more than two years Mainly because it is used as a means to communicate serious issues with the forum and the servers it is on. Some might say it is a good thing that there are no new messages Twitter @bitcointalk is official, but I only use it for outage notices and such. If you want more than that, you're encouraged to take the initiative and do it yourself. It's not realistic to expect one person to do everything.

Bitcointalk was hacked several times. Let's just don't use anything because anything can be hacked Newsflash - Bitcointalk was also hacked multiple times.... imagine that, oh yeah it happened. You did not read. The forum was hacked, Twitter was hacked and they can be hacked in the future but theymos has forum backup and he can recover it from his side. On Twitter, he will have to wait for Twitter support. Is it what a tech guru like theymos want? In another post, theymos said he feels worry when he has to use Bitcoin private key to claim something. It is never good to build up your house on others' lands.
Because I clearly said twitter would be used for posting short stats or posting screenshots, and not for writing long posts.
theymos want to express his ideas through text. You can check my words by his posts on the forum or on Reddit. He even hates animated avatars, flash and images. Screenshots of original texts on the forum and tweet it on Twitter, maybe he don't like it.
