For your information, the blending of ethanol at 20% has been made mandatory starting from April 1, 2026, instead of the original deadline of 2030. This change is expected to reduce fuel imports and emissions; however, it may also damage engines that aren't designed for such high levels of ethanol blending. As far as I know, only Honda India vehicles currently have engines capable of handling 20% ethanol blends.

The current government appears aware of upcoming challenges and may leverage this situation to reduce fuel imports. If you think they will not seize this opportunity, you might be mistaken.

Additionally, be prepared for the possibility of being required to use Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) tokens before the upcoming Uttar Pradesh election in November this year. We may soon see a sudden ban on ₹500 paper notes, which could be followed by a mandatory transition to using the digital rupee for denominations of ₹500 and above.

I am not sure about the part that the government is deliberately trying to increase the demand just to sell induction, any rich individual owns that company like top 10 richest people in our country? I don't think so. But the government is not handling well, even if they could with right kind of orders to the gas suppliers but they failed in that part too.

But the situation can't keep continue like that, even if it happens for one more month, then I am sure it will affect the economy and almost take the jobs out related to the hospitality industry.
Situation is much better now. It is not just India, but a lot of other countries are going through the crisis as well. I would actually say India is handling the situation much effectively as there are multiple initiatives by the government to provide home deliveries for LPG cylinders to KYC-cleared users.

I have even seen a WhatsApp bot which helps us in schedule the LPG delivery just within a couple of minutes and the prices on these portals remain the same. This has been a nightmare for those who purchase gas without proper documentation by spending a couple of extra bucks. These people are now either not getting the required supply or have to pay more money than expected.

I think it will take months before the full trade resumes so there might be shortage in the coming weeks as well. It is always better to purchase what we need for at least 2 months and hold our stocks in case there is future surge.

The Natural Gas Pipeline Distribution Order, 2026 gives the Centre power to override local hurdles blocking piped gas rollout across India.

→ Housing societies & RWAs can no longer block pipeline laying
→ Cuts through bureaucratic delays, high fees & approval bottlenecks
→ Triggered by Strait of Hormuz blockage & Gulf LNG facility damage

Govt is also ending the "Dual Fuel" era. If you have access to Piped Natural Gas (PNG), you must surrender your LPG cylinder.

I guess the sea routes were cleared for Indian ships so there should be no further delay in the deliveries. A slight delay is still expected as the demand is on a uprising trend as of now due to the limited supply. One good thing about LPG is that people can't simply buy multiple cylinders to stock them if the stocks run out in future. Stocking LPG is not allowed by the government and if caught can attract heavy penalties and even jail for some time. Only the agencies have permission to hold the stock for some time with proper paperwork. One of my friends has a Bharat gas agency so I know a few things about this market.

But my friend was severely hit by the gas shortage. The working capital kept on rising but his income was completely stopped for a week which made him incur losses for the current financial year and all his statements looked red now.

If your friend owns Bharat Gas agency can you ask him when are the new connections getting started ?
I know that those having pipeline gas connection won't be able to register for new LPG connection.
But what about those people who don't have either of them ? It would be great if you can ask him and post it here.
