Just to show off and take a selfie with it, and to claim they have better device with apple compared to an Android. But those statements are invalid now because we have even better camera phones from Android in the last 3 or 4 years with better specs and designs and the only thing they are still holding is with their video clarty. And it is mostly due to the optimized software rather than a better device.

The show-off era is over. As of now, the new mantra is security and updates. I have seen a 2007-era iPhone still working without any issues. That is what the price provides. Android has got an issue that it will only work for approximately 5 to 6 years without any issues. The camera is the best on iPhone, hands down, but only a handful of us will use the camera for that kind of quality. Apple ecosystem is another benefit that you can avail of if you are using an iPhone. But, due to cost and everything being chargeable, it stops Indian to be part of it. There are many benefits, but the problem is the cost which is why Indian's avoid iPhone.

I'm not trying to counter you but I feel like this is just a perception that's being sold. My brother has an iPhone too and he has to put the phone next to his ear to even hear the sound on call. Now, one may argue that he is an exception and everything depends on how you use the mobile phone, but then that's true for Android too. I still have a Samsung J7 purchased about a decade ago that works fine, and my father uses it, in fact.

I can't find a single person who can justify the price of iPhones purely based on the utility. It's either purchased by those who earn a lot and don't care, or those who try to fake a lifestyle that they borrowed from the society.

For individuals, restrictions on H1B is bad but in a long term this will help us because of existing brain drain issue.

This issue is very bad as I have some of my friends who know a few H1B visa holders and their pain. For example this guy bought a house and shifted his family from India to the US after 2 years. He was confident that his stint would go a long way. After being there for 4 and half years because of the Trump administration, he was asked by his company to leave the US. He and his family vacated and left the US, leaving a note for the bank in the house. He also left his car in the parking lot of the airport with the same message. It is now chaotic! BTW.. these guys are the ones mostly who are getting fired left right & center.

Bro GCCs won't help us. Yes, I agree they help with brain drain. Yet, we will not be able to come up with new tech as these guys will be busy working for the US. It is a situation where we are progressing, and yet we are not developing. Except UPI we do not have anything to offer to the world. If we are fintech leaders, as I assume we are, then this is the right area for the government to focus on so we can become a hub of new tech that shapes global currencies and economics.

Let's see I have not seen any private companies come up with any innovation. It is only the government based sectors that have come up with innovation and new products that are now globally accepted. I doubt anything will happen in the long term.

I agree brain drain will stop because of the H1B issues, but after the November midterm election, if Trump loses, then lobbyists will be back to revoke those laws. As per the current economic situation of the US, it is clear that he will lose.

You have zero idea how rich is the Indian market and how much money Indian middle class has. Although most of that purchasing power comes from EMIs that makes me more bullish as Indian's can now pay their EMIs without any issue. Yesterday was the day when iPhone 18 was available for sale in India. People waited for more than 12 hours to get that phone. Imagine the money these guys can afford to just buy a new car priced phone. Do not underestimate the Indian middle class they will do anything to be in the league of uber rich Indians.

Indian middle class is the backbone of every company in this world, there is no denial in that, but it happened due to the mindset shift. 30 or 40 years back the middle class focused on securing the future but the next generation keep constantly hearing the words called live at the moment so they went from saving money to spending money.

If one can't buy an Iphone with full payment then they can't afford the Iphone that is the basic law of finance but EMIs allows them to buy that but that makes huge compromises in the long term.

I absolutely agree with this. Indian middle class has shifted it's mindset from saving money to spending money while it lasts.
They are completely under the influence of the western culture. While that is not wrong, the only thing I am worried of is living from paycheck to paycheck.
If the Indian middle class keeps spending like this the time will arrive soon where people won't have any money left by the end of the month and start living paycheck to paycheck.

It is actually good to see that we are moving from a service-oriented IT sector to other tech products. We have the talent here. During my college days, I saw wicked smart people from IITs move out of the country to pursue further education and land big jobs. After college, coming from an electronics engineering background, I got placed in the IT sector because there were no openings in other sectors here. I'm glad to see that things are changing after two decades.

I visited a few startups in Bangalore last year specialising in drone designing and defence robotics. They’ve actually got investments from Greenoaks and Rainmatter. If these bureaucratic hurdles are eased, I am pretty certain we will see more people venturing into these fields.

Everything is true, and I can quote many in space tech like you have but the reality is that the government of India under PM Modi came up with those innovative ideas first. Allowed those gov companies to showcase their innovation, whereas the big names in private industry were silently working on nothing. Until now, we have not seen any big IT company come up with new tech or software. IT service providers are only handling customers from global banking giants. They never ever have a vision to innovate anything like our colonial past. They only provide services like our ancestors who were part of WW1 battle.

We reached that stage already, back in the day, households survived on the income of one person, but now, to survive in cities, both of them need to work. I am not against a woman being financially independent but most of them are forced to work because they don't have enough financial support to maintain their current lifestyle over the period of time, which also includes increasing and falling into the short-term debt trap.

Bro are you living in a tier 3 or tier 4 city? If yes, then I have been in such cities because of my job. I have recruited girls & women from those tiers. They all want to be independent. In fact, some of them were trying to be the breadwinners of their families. Which era or which country are you writing about? Just search for Haryana's first female Truck drivers.

You will know how much India has progressed. Since we are the most populated country in the world and advancing does not mean you will try to humiliate your own.

I don't know why you are under the impression that I am from somewhere and don't know the reality of India, maybe it is time for you to take a peek of the outside of white collar jobs. I am talking about middle class and lower middle class, not the women who want to work in IT or any desk job.

I am speaking the reality of cities where the cost of living has increased so high that a middle-aged woman has to contribute in some way, which can be any job that she can find even if she don't want to just because they have to cope up with their survival against increasing rent, price of goods and everything. India is progressing, more than we expected, like ISRO from nothing to mars project even our PM is one of the most powerful leader in geopolitics but the growth is not happening everywhere, still there are parts of India where we don't have basic necessities (don't want to mention the name of the state cause I feel any part is just a part of India).
