Gig workers do not fall under labour law. That is why the government cannot do anything for them. Although I do agree that the government should tweak the existing labour law and add them but we all know how the Indian system works. If they do it now, it will take at least 5 years to make those changes.

That is the main loophole companies use.

By the time any real change comes, model would already be more widespread and harder to regulate. Till then the workers remain stuck with almost no protection.

Kuch nahi hoga change. I speculated and I feel that it will never happen unless the opposition comes up with relevant issues. The opposition is busy with nothing and it will continue that is why they are in opposition.

They offered good salaries in the beginning, just like how they captured the market among the users too but now they are turning into shitty and almost charging 200% than the actual price and also taking 40% commissions from the restaurants for every order. Government can tweak them by giving more stricter guidelines of how they should treat even if they are called as partners instead of employees but all they care about is blocking or making the life of a crypto users as hell. Cheesy

Well, to be honest, they have to make their profits somehow right. Besides that, it's not all the items mentioned on their platform are overpriced.
There are few items which is still cheaper on the platform when compared to restaurant price, obviously after adding the discounts and coupons.
For some items the pricing goes breakeven with restaurant prices but then we get the convenience of getting the food delivered at home.
Then there are the rest where the platform charges more and make their money and I guess there's no harm in that.
If the price looks expensive we still have the option of going to the restaurant ourself and get the food.

Not all the prices shown on Swiggy and Zomato are the actual prices on the restaurant menus. I have tried this many times, and there was a time when I used to purchase food three times a day when I was living in Mumbai. If you actually go to the restaurant, the prices are different. Even for the same product, the price will be different on Swiggy and Zomato, even after coupons are added. For a place like Mumbai, I do not mind paying an additional amount to get the food, as the traffic is really high, but they lack transparency on the price. You can try it yourself by going to a restaurant physically and trying to add the same food on these apps.

But apps like Instamart and JioMart have physical shops, so there is no price bump as far as I understand, and sometimes buying online is even cheaper than going to a store.

Bhai yeh tab hoga jab janta apne rights ke liye khud awaaz uthayegi. Abhi jaisa system hai janta bhi chup sarkar bhi chup. Matlab janta chup to sarkar khush.

And regarding the opposition, they will not do anything. When they come, they just fill their pockets. Or janta rahy gi wahin ki wahin.

Kaise?
Abhi jaisa system hai janta bhi chup sarkar bhi chup. Matlab janta chup to sarkar khush.
Janta chup hi rehti hai hamesha. They show their opposition through elections. That is why we are called the biggest democracy. bakchodi mat karo is what janta says through election results.
And regarding the opposition, they will not do anything. When they come, they just fill their pockets. Or janta rahy gi wahin ki wahin.
Bhai, opposition is a shit hole. I have never seen a weak opposition as now. Rahul Gandhi looks more like a hyper sex enthusiast. This guy is promoting a girl who belongs to a party that celebrates the killing of Indian soldiers. What a waste he is! Same goes for his sister.

Bhai janta kaya kary? They are looking at their problems. We know what happens in elections time. Politicians aaty hain jo kabhi munh nai dikhaty. They give some rupees or shapat lety hain. Or janta next 5 years zaleel hony ky liye ready rehti.

Opposition is weak, that much is clear. If there was a strong opposition, the government would feel more pressure. Right now neither side seems to focus solidly on real public issues.

I personally know someone who owns a restaurant, and they also sell on these food delivery apps. I asked them why the price of a dosa is sold at 120 in the restaurant but listed for 200 in the menu and their reply is they simply added the commission along with the price tag which is 80%, so we are basically paying 40% premium for the delivery and restaurants offer coupons and custom deals which can be savings but rarely we save money than buying directly on food apps. Still, everyone thinks that adding a coupon means they saved money. Grin

You're right here because even I have checked this with my friend who owns a cafe and adds the 40% premium price on these platforms.
These platforms don't even consult with these restaurants before offering promotions and discounts to the users and directly decrease the price from restaurant's quoted price.
Hence the reason why most restaurants include a premium price on these platforms but even then, in some cases ordering online is still a better deal than going to the restaurant.
Just for example, going to a restaurant 3 Km away and then picking up delivery and coming back home, sometimes the price is almost at par including petrol price or just 10 - 20 rs extra which makes it more promising for the convenience of getting food delivered at home.

I don't think that is how it works, swiggy or whatever the app don't decide the discounts, they are set by the restaurant, and they have different app for that but platform keep pushing the restaurants to run ad campaigns and high discounts to attract more customers. While the app itself offer personalised discounts sometimes which will not be reduced from the restuarant bill but from the app itself, usually a one time thing to trick them to keep using the app again.

The reason why I did not use the direct link is that this can be considered spam. Too much gyanology is happening behind it with the admin support. I appreciate that you took a look and tried the game. I am hoping you come up with feedback to improve it. Bro @eaLiTy, give it a try, bro!

Bhai, I used to think the same, but I’m pretty sure the offers are run by Swiggy. I guess it works like this: Swiggy asks restaurants whether they want to offer discounts. If they do, Swiggy probably lets them choose how aggressively they want to discount their orders. And of course, restaurants are charged a certain percentage on orders for running these aggressive offers.

I often see certain restaurants consistently offering discounts, while some don’t offer any, even on special occasions. But I also feel that Swiggy, rather than the restaurants themselves, determines the exact offers. For example, I’ve seen 8–10 restaurants offering the exact same type of discount (₹60 off on orders of ₹149, etc.). It seems unlikely that all eight restaurants independently came up with the exact same discount.

I had the opportunity to look the zomato restaurant app and the offers are solely decided by the owner or the manager of the restaurant because these two are the one who can create the discount and this is like a preset of created offers and we just have to select which one and it varies for first-time customers and breakfast or run on specific timing like morning 9 to 11 and then it goes offline and new promo pops up. So the partner apps has nothing to do with and what I tried to say is simply the restaurant offering 150 discount doesn't meant we got a deal, the price is not what they are selling at restaurant and they also added 40% then the promo price on top of the actual price.

I still think that the offers are decided mainly by the platforms. While the restaurants do have the option, the end decision is from the platform.
If the restaurant are not willing to offer any discounts but the platform still wants to offer discounts then they do.
My friend says the same thing who owns a cafe. Anyway, the end thing is, if after all discounts and promotions if the price is feasible then the deal is good otherwise there's no point of having that discount.

Good point. From my understanding, apps are incentivizing restaurants to offer discounts, mostly if the app wants more orders from a specific location or time period. Restaurants can decline these offers, but that could lead to decrease in exposure on the app. So your friend example is valid.

In the end though, its really just about the total cost of the meal to the customer. If that discounted price is still higher than what the restaurant charges on its menu, then the promotion isnt helping the customer.

But sometimes the restraunts changes the order even when there is a discount,i have gone through that recently i ordered fried chicken from a well known restraunt and when i recived the order and open it the food that i ordered was completly off coures and the delivery platform didn't even bother to recheck my order but i was hungry so i ate it what i recived until the next day when i gave my feedback on the platform.

These promotions would hardly help the customers because companies like Zomato or Swiggy have to book their profits first. Yes, there are a number of promotions going on. I even saw food at 19rs on swiggy. I did dare to order a few aalo parathas which cost me less than 100 rupees but I was not satisfied with the quality. I feel like the same paratha could have been way better if I paid the normal price. With this discounted price, they did not even give me a pack of pickle which actually costs 1 rupee.

These promotions are usually meant to attract a few people like me or sometimes, sell off the remaining food which would soon turn into wastage. I am not a big fan of these promotions any more because of the degraded quality.

First of all, Zomato or swiggy don't own any restaurants or don't have any food to sell; they just tie up with them to use their platform and in the beginning they spent money out of their pocket to build the userbase and now, by bagging a 40% commission on every order they sell through the app, the model is simply to connect the buyer/seller and take 40% commission.
