It can be confusing if we see coinmarketcap coin list before we want to buy some coins because coinmarketcap has listed many coins there.
I recommend us to see the announcement section in this forum, so we can see new coins and tokens on new projects.
Altcoin investment have more risk than bitcoin because the value of altcoin is not stable as bitcoin, particularly on new altcoins.
Checking the announcement section could really help. Many listed altcoins in coinmarketcap and this is a guide to check the coins listed there. Before investing it is necessary to do your research first. Not all altcoins are profitable so we also have to consider the top altcoins in the market. The above post is also helpful especially to the newbies in this industry. |

Very well explained and I wanna add few more things for new traders who are willing to learn more. Before joining the ICO, don't get HYPED and look for the cheap ways in order to collect more with pre-sales or bonus rounds. The pre-sale rates are discounted but there is no guarantee the projects will continue the rest of the token sale in case of lower collected funds.

If you will look at past ICOs, it is better to buy when they hit the exchanges. Because few days or couple of weeks after they are being traded, their price goes down even about 10% of their ICO price. So if you do really believe the potential of the project, for me, better to wait for them in the exchanges, as their hunters usually dump it to a very cheap price. |

I'd rather choose the altcoins already listed on the exchange and wait for its cheaper price, this happen many times and this is indeed profitable. Newbie have to assess their risk tolerance since not everyone are willing to take risk that much. When I was a newbie, I'm not investing into any altcoin honestly and hold only Bitcoin simply because my knowledge about altcoins is not enough for me to invest so I took my own research about the altcoins and despite of those risk, i invested on my first ETH altcoin and on many good ICO before, the golden era of ICO. |

Thats right check the announcement section here to know the details about the new coins. Fill your mind with information to be aware if the coin is good or not. Altcoin investment have more risk than bitcoin because the value of altcoin is not stable as bitcoin, particularly on new altcoins.
Indeed, compared to btc altcoins are more risky due to scam or the coin to turn as shitcoin. This is the risk of investing in new coins that are launching nowadays. |

most of begineer investors tempted by another trader that already earn profit from trading, they thinking its look easy to do meanwhile risk that may occur not calculate yet. holding altcoin need deep research, we must understand its behaviour if compared to bitcoin price movement. although we know its coin was good project , but finding best entry position was obligation for us.
Because of glamorous words, we are all driven by other people specially if we trusted them at first. This is why some of crypto promoters had been paid by large projects because they bring up many investors in the project. If a trusted guy in your group said that this coin will replace ethereum soon and has better development then everybody will buy it. Newbies tend to buy because they still have no idea where to buy. They just depend on others thought. |

I think altcoins have a more dangerous risk than bitcoin because of the large supply influence and not necessarily altcoins have a good development, and the highest risk is that altcoins have price movements depending on the project they have, when the project is useful it will make a lot of altcoins who are interested and still have a sale value on the exchange, but when the project is not widely used and there is no good development the altcoins will collapse instantly. |

A crypto fan or knowledgeable in crytpo will never get to invest directly into something which there is no assurance for earning profit. Most likely investors will not invest in altcoins instead they go always on bitcoin. However, there are instances especially if being ask to become part of the investing team that will earn profit after the token sale. Meaning they can just use the money for the project to work but after that they will get the money. This is my theory why altcoins price after listed will either pump up or fall down because of these kind of investors.

It is difficult and risky to invest with new altcoins in the market since it has no liquidity. Some may have courage to invest with new altcoins as they want to blend new things that might lead to success and some are successful like yearn finance, uniswap and other more. But the majority who invest with new altcoins just fall into trap and not earning in the long run, some others are just victims of scams and frauds.

If we think only about the risks involved in crypto no one will invest in crypto, honestly crypto is worth the risk and sooner or later you will learn many things and adjust yourself along the way, mistakes will be made that's certain, the only thing that can drag you down is pushing learning aside, even after all that mistake you still decide not to learn from them, that's bad.
This is a little bit inaccurate, some cryptocurrencies are worth it the rest are trash made by scammers trying to get some fast money and developers that do not really know what they are doing, if you are going to become an investor then the most important lesson to learn before coming to this market is to learn to tell the difference between good and bad coins, some people may say to only invest in the coins at the top 10 so you are safe but out of those coins there are at least 5 coins I will never invest in and yet they are some of the most popular coins in the market just by looking at their market cap. |

Many beginners think investment in Altcoin can make profits in a fast time but in fact, it is not easy to need time and patience without it all investments in Altcoin will be in vain because the price of Altcoin is also a long time to wait for Bitcoin to be more stable for Altcoin to rise rapidly.
Personally i don't always talk about investment to newbies becasue many of them think altcoins are the means to get profit from cryptocurrencies, but this is not. Investment with altcoins are just a waste of time IMO but some can be lucky while others might not, some projects that got me scammed were not bad initially but they turned bad overnight. My advise to newbies: don't invest in random altcoins projects but only choose to make your investment with Bitcoin for a start. |

Out of hundred you may get couple of such instances which can give you that type of rise and for that we need to have that solid research based on which will be able to identify it and invest it. But not everyone will be able to get it and rest of them will lose if invested in any such coins will become worthless. So invest only in what you understand it and what you can lose it. |

You think about some guys better that they are. Just believe: a LOT of guys invest in the cryptocurrencies much money even when they do not know anything about them. 10-30% only first think, and then spend their hundreds and even thousands on crypto. |

bitcoin for your venture and never mind the altcoin market. You can purchase bitcoin however many as would be prudent on the grounds that that is the best interest in the crypto market. For this situation my point is, the point at which you put resources into another venture and they fall flat or more regrettable, they submit extortion, at that point there is no assurance for your cash back and you can't report it to lawful elements or the specialists.

of the many new and old altcoins on the market, I personally only like and invest in the top altcoins. especially with ETH, BNB and TRX. These three altcoins are very suitable for future investment, so I think that for new investors it is better to invest only in the top altcoins.

depending on the project as well as capital. for me personally it doesn't matter to invest in the top altcoins in the market as most of them have further price developments and have proven to be profitable for investments like Ethereum and some of the top altcoins. if I have large capital then prioritize BTC and ETH as much as possible.
