Is there a reason why signatures are no longer displayed in the entire forum? Since it has already been noticed by several users it should not be a problem for my user. The checkmark at "Don't show users' signatures." is of course not set in my profile. Is it an attempt to limit spam?

How about browser's adblock? Do you somewhat have them? Afaik some of the adblocks detected signatures as ads particularly. I can still see them.

Great thank you! But the behaviour must have changed in the last minutes.
I use Firefox with the uBlock Origin plugin. This is the explanation. I deactivated it for bitcointalk and since then the display is as usual. Thanks a lot!

Wot. I'm personally using Firefox(81.0.2 64-bit) with the uBlock Origin plugin for Bitcointalk and signatures were never blocked(at least in my experience).

I also use all the same, haven't disabled anything but I haven't seen any anomaly so far. Maybe it was a temporary glitch by uBlock Origin?

Wot. I'm personally using Firefox(81.0.2 64-bit) with the uBlock Origin plugin for Bitcointalk and signatures were never blocked(at least in my experience). At first, when I installed uBlock by default it blocks some signatures spaces, forum ads, and other portions of some threads, I even noticed it too on the thread I made that if there's an ad/ads/advertisment related word the <div> and other elements were blocked/removed. So far its okay now as I set it up.

I use Firefox in version 82.0 (64-bit). uBlock Origin was last updated to version 1.30.6 on October 22nd.
Very strange because until today about noon it was as usual. Since then the signatures are really only shown if the plugin is disabled. I can still reproduce the behavior now.

The same happened with me last night using the exact same adblocker and browser. It happened whether I was logged in or not. Signatures were still visible on computers and browsers without uBlock origin installed. It’s likely not a Firefox problem. What probably happened was, uBlock origin made a new built-in filter last night, that nailed all Bitcointalk signatures. I was going to create this thread, but I managed to solve it by turning off uBlock origin for Bitcointalk, and I thought it was a problem with my configuration. I guess you can do that too because it doesn’t have any tracking or ads in it, except for the top banner. But Theymos made sure to circumvent all adblockers in the banner HTML so that is why those still stayed even when adblockers were on, and while this bug happened.

So I guess it has something to do with the Firefox latest version. My Firefox version is still 81.0.2 (64-bit) just like mk4's, and I am using the latest version of uBlock Origin, 1.30.6 just like yours. Very strange because until today about noon it was as usual. Since then the signatures are really only shown if the plugin is disabled. I can still reproduce the behavior now.
Try adding bitcointalk under trusted sites and see if it helps

I use Firefox in version 82.0 (64-bit).
I check manually every day is there new update for Firefox, and today I update to 82.0.1 - now I check again and there is 82.0.2. Personally, I didn't have any problems with signatures in combination with Firefox&uBlock Origin, but if Firefox has 2 updates in one day, it means that they probably messed something up.

I can still see the signatures. Even went through few random threads just to have an average ratio of signatures and it seems almost all of them can be seen except for newbies. Best way go through any signature campaign thread and its all there! How about browser's adblock? Do you somewhat have them? Afaik some of the adblocks detected signatures as ads particularly. I can still see them.
I don't think adblocks has got to anything with the signatures really? Since there are no tracking codes embedded in the BBCode for signature as well as no cookies associated with all the signatures under every users, I barely doubt an adblocker can really work on that "space". How Ad Blocking WorksWith what can be read over quoted article I believe it may not be adblocker.

Very strange. The approach would have been understandable but unfortunately it was not. I updated Firefox to the latest version (82.0.2), restarted everything. Unchanged.
I have set bitcointalk.org as a trusted site. Unchanged.
I can't explain it but now the blocker just stays deactivated here. So it works as usual and maybe the thread helps someone else with the problem. Thank you!

I don't know for other adblockers but for uBlock it does, it appears that if uBlock cosmetic filtering is enabled, signatures and other images/media don't show properly, that eye icon on tryninja's uploaded image.

If you want to know exactly why this is happening, open the " Events" window, refresh the page and see what rule is blocking those elements. Good hint thanks. I will test it tomorrow when I get back to the affected computer. I will then gladly insert the findings here. Because the thread should also help if the problem occurs again where or other users are affected.

Ok, I found out what happened. I also use uBlock Origin but the signatures were showing up fine. Just now, I had to clear the filters cache to load some custom rules I wrote. I came back to BitcoinTalk and the signatures were gone. This is the rule blocking them: bitcointalk.org##.signature Which is very weird, since signatures don't necessarily hold advertisements and this will block all of them (even the "normal" ones). So, the uBlock Origin extension will also start blocking all signatures for new installations or for the users that decide to clear their filters list cache. If theymos wants to (or cares enough) he can just remove/rename the "signature" class of the div to bypass the filter.

I guess the uBlock Origin extension and/or Firefox updates includes external advertisements as suspicious websites such as the signatures in the forum, as it can be used to hide a certain phishing website in which not everyone in the forum, especially those who aren't aware of checking the reference website first before clicking the signature. Well, it was based on my understanding upon reading the uBlock github repos, [1] in which all of those possible url indicated in a website (particularly those that aren't really connected with the real domain of the website -- this forum) is being treated as malicious website, hence blocking the whole signature element [2]. No. The rule was specifically created to block those elements on the forum. If you have the uBlock Origin extension and check the filters list, it says "bitcontalk.org##<rule>" for all the 3 rules: bitcointalk.org##:xpath(//span[contains(text(),"Advert")]/../..) bitcointalk.org##.signature bitcointalk.org##.fpcontainer Where the first was suggested on their subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/drmhuh/how_to_remove_ads_from_bitcointalkorg/

Never it did happen that I am losing sight with different kinds of signature here in the forum. I can see it brightly especially the high paying signature bounties that I wish I can join or be qualified to compete others to apply for it. Well, whatever the good news is that I had never experience seeing signatures remove especially the one that I am wearing to which I earn to support some expenses. It is a great help actually and thankful to the bounty managers that I was accepted and get paid.
