Tomorrow (31st October) marks the 12th Anniversary of the Bitcoin Whitepaper. Now this is not news to most forum members , but how many people have actually read it ? This small insignificant post is just a gentle reminder to any forum members out there who haven’t read it - I urge you to read it ASAP. Just take a bit of time over the weekend to read it.
Similarly if you have read it , read it again ! I usually read it once every 6 months, not on purpose , but as my bitcoin knowledge increases , my understanding of the whitepaper increases and I get drawn back to it with some new queries from the depth of my rabbit hole !
Anyway - GIVE IT A READ - you won’t be disappointed  Smiley

Actually, it’s interesting to see that you can retrieve a translation of the Bitcoin White Paper in different local languages here: https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-paper

Languages are: English, Bahasa Indonesian, Catalan, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovenian, Finnish, Swedish, Turkish, Greek, Hindi, Hebrew, Russian, Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Arabic, Persian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Bengali.

No excuses for not reading a 9 paged document now …

If you want to see something more, there’s this on the "making of":

Quite interesting, and much better as it is open source, so anyone who is interested can open an issue to make their own translation. Checked through the current opened issues and there was one for Hausa language, which is predominantly spoken in the northern part of Nigeria as well as in other parts of Africa; there is not much information, but it shows the reach Bitcoin has gained.

There are also opened issues to translate the whitepaper to Bulgarian, Albanian and some other languages. I remember coming across a translation thread for Bitcoin made by one of the forum members, but can not remember the language now or the document that was being translated.

Although I have read a few parts of the white paper, I never knew that it was available in Bengali language. It was interesting read but due to having enough time, I lost interest and never planned again to read it. Since it's available in Bengali language, I would definitely have a read this week. Thanks for the reminder, otherwise I would never know that it's available in Bengali language.

Tomorrow (31st October) marks the 12th Anniversary of the Bitcoin Whitepaper.

Here is an actual announcement. People were not that ecstatic about his announcement Smiley   Oh and tomorrow is also World Savings Day. What a better way to save if not in permissionless money.

Thanks all for the replies ! Never realised ( never thought selfishly ) about the whitepaper being translated into so many languages , but many more to go !
Personally I love to read all the old Satoshi posts and announcements - it’s a deep rabbit hole.
It is a MUST read and in essence it’s an  amalgamation of a lot of peoples work, but with that extra spark from Satoshi to actually create a working digital currency.

The quite interesting part I loved about his whitepaper was the time of its release and it's Halloween. I await every year for this time to come and let me revisit the whitepaper and do a 'revision' of everything I already know about. Wink
This whitepaper was once a spark that burnt the whole fiat industry by bringing digital revolution to its best.

Can anyone try to download the Romanian translation of the white paper? It doesn't download on my side. I just saw who made it and I'm shocked. I hope to be wrong, but it may be a ridiculous translation if I'm right with what I suspect. I will detail later. However, in order to be sure, I need to see that translation, but I can't download it.

I downloaded it from the bitcoin.org website and uploaded it here:

Please check it and share the difference.
https://github.com/IkeGDB is the link of the translator.

Thanks 2double0! I managed to get it myself as well.

Ooook... So... How should I put this? The translation was made by a clown or maybe 2 clowns (not members of Clowns Cartel lol), which I reported for shilling their shitty website constantly in the Romanian board. The clowns got away with this, as they are friends with Cyrus (my reports were left unhandled).

One of these clowns, which is also illiterate in Romanian and which wrote in an article that there will be only 14M BTCs (a reason for being ridiculed in the Romanian board) made a shitty translation of the white paper in 2015 (https://goanadupabitcoin.ro/de-stiut/pentru-prima-data-in-limba-romana-moneda-bitcoin-explicata-de-satoshi-nakamoto/). Without knowing Romanian, thus without being able to see how illiterate the translation is, just look at the alignment: part is centered and part is justified. This should be at least a first sign of the lack of professionaliam of the translator.

The other clown owns that site - goanadupabitcoin.ro. And, apparently, he is the publisher of the (ridiculously) translated white paper on bitcoin.org. And that's because on bitcoin.org appears the same illiterate translation made in 2015 by the first clown.

This translation is a shame! Is a shame for Bitcoin, for Satoshi, for bitcoin.org and even more for the Romanians. If you know how andulolika writes in English, imagine something similar here, but with a very precious text. While andulolika writes endless BS on the forum, but he ca be ignored, these 2 clowns protected by Cyrus managed to appear as publisher for a ridiculous and illiterate translation for the Bitcoin white paper, which is a sort of Bible in crypto space! It's unthinkable!

Is there any way to report a bad translation on bitcoin.org? These clowns went too far! The write stupid articles on their website - ok; they are illiterate - ok; they spam the forum with their site, for SEO purposes, while Cyrus closes his eyes - ok; but now they stained the very own Bitcoin white paper with their incompetence. That's enough! More than enough! Someone must correct this one way or another.

Clowns' names: goanadupabitcoin and Nea Sandu.

<snip>
No one from the Philippines had translated bitcoin whitepaper sad😔.

Anyway, Filipino people can read, write and even speak fluently in English langauge but not like me(not really good in english).

However, I wish someone from PH will going to translate it and then post it in the forum. It could be probably rewarding especially with merits.

considering the board this topic is posted in, i wouldn't recommend "beginners" to read the bitcoin paper since it has some technical aspects and it is more of an abstract idea explanation which could be difficult for a beginner to understand.
the newcomers should read the bitcoin.org's getting started page since it is a lot more beginner friendly than the paper.

apart from that, if someone has been around for a while or already has some idea how bitcoin works, it is a good idea to read the paper too.

If only I have skills to do some translation I can do this. I mean I can translate this in my own words but setting it up on the pdf with images and representation is not my forte. You are right someone from our local boards should step up and take the initiative to do this. I like also our local boards to have own language of the whitepaper. Ive reaf this for so many times and I keep reading this once in a while cause Satoshi never fails to amaze me with the details of the very first blockchain ever created.

Happy Anniversary for tomorrow, Im wondering if there are some sort of event that will launch tomorrow.

It is a very good coincidence that on the 12th anniversary of the official document, bitcoin surpassed the price of 12,000. It can be said that it increased in value every year.
https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-to-celebrate-12-years-from-whitepaper-with-crucial-close-above-12k/

Yesterday there was an online marathon dedicated to the birthday of the document.
