Got it, some people have been starting to fill their bags as their preparations for the altcoin bullish trend that will come after this. I strongly hold altcoin in my wallet.
I have sold some of my altcoins to make a preparation if there will be a big correction that will happen.
We are on a very difficult situation to pick which one is the best sell or hodl. Both were making so many people confusing right now. The bounce that will happen in altcoin will be even bigger than before.

Because, when bitcoin gain up/down all price with bitcoin pair will be down but USD estimation will be up. Always be cautious with your alts, many of them will suddenly die not because Bitcoin's price surged but because they are nothing but scams. Hodl only very carefully picked altcoins. The rest you better sell for Bitcoin because Bitcoin's price is going to double more easily than those cheap altcoins. Simply to think of the capital cycle on the market. Money or capital flows from bitcoin to altcoins and in the last month the market sees the flow of capital into bitcoin. it's not necessary to buy top altcoins only because last altcoin season even shitcoins brings insane profits to all holders, some proven that they make more money from shitcoins than top altcoins, you can mix top 10 altcoins with few cheap altcoins under top 50 or top 100

I can't blame the panic sellers, I've been investing on crypto projects for a long time before knowing about this forum, majority of the time s and coins I invested on turned scam and dumped massively, I'm able to recover right now because I decided to keep taking profits, every thing about crypto is timing so now that Bitcoin bull season is back it's not too late to start buying altcoins

You are absolutely right, most of the alts projects are highly speculative so very risky to hold majority long term if there is no strong base for the project in question, most alts are only worth to sell as soon as you see fit or just for short term, but this does not apply to all, there are some alts that worth holding long term, in other for you to determine this, just look at the team, the structure and goal of the project, then you can decide to hold long or short or even sell immediately.

Why does it matter when you bought or at what prize?
Either you believe in the future for the coins your holding and then you should keep them, if you don't see a positive future sell them. It doesn't matter if you are on plus or minus, it's all about what you think about the future.

Basing decisions on if you are on plus or minus is the biggest rookie mistake I would say.

I would rather sell at this point, I have already learned my lesson in the last bull run when I hold a little longer and got amaze by how bitcoin was pumping. The movement of bitcoin now is bullish, but it will not be forever going into that direction so I think greediness here is the only hindrance why we can't sell easily.

I really like the statement about holding altcoins with strong backings and projects that worth it, now the question is, how many of these altcoins are even worth it? They enter with hype, have massive pump and then dump, and some people will still be holding with the mindset it will pump again, when it's already evident that their growth were as a result of hype, and hence nothing much should be expected.
My own opinion is, Bitcoin is the best out there, and its growth always attract more attention and more investors, and it is altcoins that suffers this, and these category of altcoins are those with no strong backings, those that were just hyped etc, in this case holding Bitcoin is far better than those coins. Also, coins like Ethereum always grow with Bitcoin, so in this case, I think holding is also better. This means that, your selling or holding should depend on the type of altcoin.
