Last few months I saw an article, that make me shocked, how some killer open their mouth in the court to tell the judge how the woman paid them with bitcoin to her husband that is making court to start investigating how the transaction was made to carry out such act. Assume it's fiat money she use to pay the killer, do you think the court will still like to investigate the  type of currency used for the operation?
India is trying to Re-ban bitcoin in the country just because some people said is a scam currency.
What is your opinion?

Bitcoin like other fiat is a legal tender which is currently used in exchange for goods bought or services rendered so therefore u shouldn't be surprised to see bitcoin been used as a bribery weapon or a tool for corrupt practices. Bitcoin has gained enough value conpared to our fiats so therefore most people prefer bitcoin as means of payment compared to our everyday fiat

Maybe you are referring to this article:

https://www.coindesk.com/nevada-woman-charged-in-bitcoin-murder-for-hire-as-a-mystery-hacker-again-turns-tipster

And if you look at the court documents: https://www.justice.gov/usao-edca/press-release/file/1319781/download, they have investigated and found out the bitcoin addresses used by by the woman accused. So there's your answer. India is a different case though, the country is still in the grey area. And your title is somewhat misleading, "people rebel against bitcoin"? What does it mean?

I can tell you that the number of people love and support bitcoin is much less than the number of people who rebel or hate bitcoin.

There are many reasons why they hate or rebel bitcoin: They don't like the bitcoin blockchain and its revolution by decentralization can destroy the centralized financial markets and their interests. Or in other cases, they don't like bitcoin because their hesitation and doubt prevent them to invest in bitcoin when price was cheap, a few cents. Now when they are looking back, they are jealous with the others who believe in, invest in and get profits from bitcoin investment.

In my opinion if they say Bitcoin is a scam currency it is very wrong, because Bitcoin is not a real currency but Bitcoin is a digital currency that makes it easy for everyone to transact without real money, like people in India who don't fully understand and believe that Bitcoin is real and very valuable in the future, they really need serious guidance and knowledge about Bitcoin.

AFAIK in India, it's not actually the Indian government that wants to ban it. But, it's the RBI (Reserve Bank of India). They've once lifted up the ban and they're back at it again for some reason.

The first scenario you have told is about the usual use of bitcoin, to pay for service or anything you purchase. It's only that it was used with bad intentions, the same with the usage of fiat.

I dont think that it matters at all,the way killer got paid to do the work, or that it would bitcoin somehow look bad. They do try to smear bitcoin by saying stupid things like bitcoin is used only by criminals or something like that, but no one buys that anymore and we can see that by the bitcoin price.

So no, i dont think people will rebel against bitcoin, on the contrary once they learn few things about it they will see bitcoin=freedom.

What is the connection of the title to the post cause I do not see much. Honestly, with India's swaying favors with bitcoin, I just want to watch it in the backlines. They have a really big country which means that they should try to do it in small scale to take a perspective if it benefits them as a whole or not.

From the few things I am reading it seems that it is an excuse governments use that criminals use Bitcoin. It is a very small part of Bitcoin transactions used for illegal activities and it is also that some of these illegal activities like drugs can become legal or are legal in some countries already. Most are about drug money and this was a big problem for decades before Bitcoin. Saying that Bitcoin is the problem is a bad excuse and a way to ignore the real problems. Also governments and politicians are commonly known for distorting the truth so I would trust Bitcoin instead of any government.

Why were you surprised to hear that? Is it because she used bitcoin to pay the hitman? Or did you think hiring hitman was a fictional thing since you can't hire hitman with fiat currency? You do know that people also pay their hitman with fiat currency, right? Its not like because of bitcoin, people are able to now hire hitman.
Even if she used fiat currency, the court will still order an investigation on how the funds were obtained and transferred.
India can't ban bitcoin. No one can ban bitcoin. All they can do is not allow their people to use bitcoin. And rebel against something that has no central authority? Good luck.

A violent crime is committed every 25 seconds. Why is it so shocking that Bitcoin is used in some crimes? It's a currency, so it's being used as one. It's not like it was created to avoid and eliminate all murders. I am honestly surprised a lot of countries still did not ban Bitcoin. They could, but I suppose there will never be a global ban on it. To be honest, if it was banned in my country, I would contemplate migrating.

There could be protests against BTC, but the thing is, even if it was banned in your country you could still use it. The beauty of decentralization, right? Smiley You could still hide your tracks and make use of the currency in a peer-to-peer way. If people get to ban BTC through protests for being used in a murder, then the world has gone crazy for sure. I still have a little hope that humans still use their brains nowadays.

You are quite right, that lots of people just jealous others, who did not loose such an opportunity and invested in Bitcoin when it was perfect time to do. There are some percentage of people hate it or do not love Bitcoin, because of their losses and their not wise steps. But mostly people do not hate it, but are indifferent and just are not interested in Bitcoin or any investment ehatever it is. And in my personal opinion the amount of Bitcoin lovers is growing every year step by step according to the amount of different forums and projects, that is good)

There aren't many stores accepting Bitcoin as a payment method, so Bitcoin has a reputation of money for shadow economy. That's why cases when Bitcoin is used by criminals are always investigated.

^ Why you have been shocked? That is normal that there is a crime happen every now and then and don't wonder if bitcoin, fiat, or even gold must be involved in any crime as long as they had value, they still use it. I don't have proof to be showed it here but I think most people love bitcoin than hating this. Donnot blame bitcoin if there are some who use this in illegal activities. Nevertheless, I don't know if the authorities will solve tracing the bitcoin transaction made by the woman who paid hitman, but once hitman admits probably tracing is not a problem.

Why will the court do such thing? It would be a waste of time. More likely, they will focus on the "killing" incident, and the mode of payment has nothing to do with it. Imagine if fiat is the medium of payment in this case, will there be changes? The killer won't still be caught due to such reason. They should more investigate to how did the crime happen. I don't really get the topic itself. Why should we be against Bitcoin due to its involvement in crime, wherein it is a fact that other digital currencies and fiat currencies are also being involved to such activities?

Rebellion and hate are synonymous terms yet different in terms of intensity. Being rebel to bitcoin is being strongly disagree to what bitcoin is. They want to eradicate bitcoin for a purpose. Unlike with hate, they don't want only the bitcoin. They don't care if it will be removed nor eradicated in this industry. People getting mad of bitcoin because of the fake stories that they received from their friends. They always generalised when they get scammed using bitcoin. Bitcoin is a p2p currency. It only wants to ease the problem regarding to a past, secured and more transparent transaction in online world.

Authorities will catch up with the technology but for now, they will only try to link the BTC addresses of the killer and the woman but that will be just circumstantial evidence. What the court might do is just prove the killer killed the husband and the killer will be sentenced.

The Indian government had been debating itself as to what to do with BTC, they can not just decide which way to go.  Grin

Fiat or bitcoin are both currency that can be use in illegal or in any crimes and wrong doings because they have both value. About the killing incident I think judge will focus on what happened that incident rather than knowing how she paid the criminal. Bitcoin is digital currency Which can easily use anytime with out any hassle. You can use it as payments and for buying goods online that's why it is legit and not scam currency like what people in India have said. Maybe they just didn't understand about bitcoin and they need to learn it.

If it was paid in fiat, it won't be investigated because everything's already familiar to them. The payment transaction was investigated because the investigators involved are most probably not familiar with Bitcoin and how it works. It was probably not investigated because it was Bitcoin but because it was something they didn't understand.

I surmise there was no prejudice in this case. The investigation arose from the fact that the payment was alien to them. Had it happened in a place where Bitcoin is already widely used and understood, it wouldn't have been investigated.

Or perhaps the investigation was not focused on Bitcoin itself but on tracking the payment transaction in order to determine the other people involved in the crime. As you know, Bitcoin is transparent.

May be can use into illegal transactions like hiring someone and use bitcoin as a payment so there's no trace in it, however i think this bitcoin is strong enough because it is fiat and we knew that this is legal however not in all countries because some of countries they see bitcoin as illegal.

and as i say bitcoin payment is hard to track because we are using btc addresses which is impossible to trace which / whom received the payment
