Last few months I saw an article, that make me shocked, how some killer open their mouth in the court to tell the judge how the woman paid them with bitcoin to her husband that is making court to start investigating how the transaction was made to carry out such act. Assume it's fiat money she use to pay the killer, do you think the court will still like to investigate the  type of currency used for the operation?
India is trying to Re-ban bitcoin in the country just because some people said is a scam currency.
What is your opinion?

Do people rebel against the money ? The fiat ? The gold? It's a well known fact that these things are used more for the illegal purposes . Do people rebel against these things ?
No
The fact is these people should rebel against the wrong things , bitcoin doesn't send them messages to use their funds for scams and frauds. They choose it themselves. They do it themselves. Therefore if they are going to make a point against Bitcoins, I do think that they have to rethink of what they are actually standing up against.
It depends on people, not Bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies.
Only 10% of it is used in illegal purposes. This is far lower than what is potrayed  by the government and the media.
Now with Bitcoins the person can be taken under investigation , we do have amazing network where the people can be tracked so easily. Therefore I think it's better for sure that the person was paid for in Bitcoins.

Bitcoin and fiat have the same function, namely as a means of payment. It's no wonder that bitcoin is used as a bad payment, such as paying for contract killer services, buying drugs or prostitution fees. because bitcoin is like money. and in my opinion, the court or prosecutor must have also investigated the data on the owner of the bitcoin address that was sent to the killer. Then what is the connection with India which prohibits bitcoin from returning to circulation?

a thread has already been posted regarding the topic (A woman has been arrested in the United States for hiring a killer with bitcoin) after the article was released last September.

India is trying to Re-ban bitcoin in the country just because some people said is a scam currency.
I don't think that is the only reason why they are banning it.

also, just last October there was an article stating that the recent terror attack happened in India was funded using bitcoin/cryptocurrency and with the current issue regarding India banning bitcoin/cryptocurrency again, the congress might have more reason why bitcoin should be banned.
link to the thread: First Terror Attack Related With Bitcoin - INDIA(you can find the link to the article in that thread.)

The judge presiding the court might not know anything about bitcoin and hence there is a possibility for the judge to investigate the possibilities and how to trace them and i do not see this as an unusual ruling.

India is trying to Re-ban bitcoin in the country just because some people said is a scam currency.
What is your opinion?
I am hearing this speculation for a very long time, i do not have any opinion regarding something that is speculative. If the government bans bitcoin there is always a way to overcome these restrictions and the law will take its course.

My opinion is that bitcoin cannot be banned and is meaningless. Bitcoin is a tool that you can use to do certain things. Just like a knife. It's a useful invention, but sometimes it's used for murder. That doesn't mean we need to ban all knives. The situation is exactly the same with bitcoin: for some it is a very progressive and convenient tool for paying for goods, and for others it is a way to kill your husband.

I think in these cases, it's normal for the authorities to investigate the transactions made by the suspect, and it's not just because it's bitcoin. If they used the bank to make transactions, they will probably investigate as well. But if she directly gave the money to the killer, then there's nothing to investigate I guess.

For that part where people think it's a scam currency, it's a common misconception from people who barely know anything about crypto. Maybe because they often see scam news related to bitcoin that is why they have that kind of thinking when they hear bitcoin. Bitcoin is just a medium for transactions, it's not going to scam or harm you, it's the people who use it to do unlawful activities.

Why people will rebel against bitcoin. Firstly bitcoin isn't scam. Though many people think like this and some also says that bitcoin may end as scam. But most of the crypto user don't pay attention to these improper discussion. Cause large amount of people have enough trust in bitcoin and crypto user increasing more widely. Secondly, criminal use fiat money vastly. Using bitcoin or other crypto for criminal activities is rare case. Authority should investigate about the crime and punish criminals, bitcoin haven't done anything. So there is no point that people will rebel against bitcoin.

Bitcoin is very useful and valuable digital currency. It is not scam currency like what other said. People who will rebel against  bitcoin are those who doesn't have knowledge about it and just believe in many fake and none sense news.

Well it does move away from the crime committed I think. The crime is killing right? It is just that Bitcoin was used in order to make transaction. Then OP just mentioned that there's a possibility for the court to investigate this technology due to its involvement to the crimes. So what does it have to do with scam investment? The answer is simple to this scenario, the crime must be investigated and not the transaction to where payments took place which is somewhat far, 'coz if they will do such thing they will move away from the crime itself. All currencies are involved with illegal activities for the past decades simply because anyone can use it for their intentions.

My opinion is everybody can say anthing they want but it doesn't mean they're right and it doesn't mean their remarks have value.

If someone said that Bitcoin is a scam currency the opinions should be backed by evidence. I dare anyone to prove that this is true. If you manage that I'm sure many people will be willing to pay you big money Wink

I think I saw this story in the media before, and I also focused my attention on the fact that the attempted murder is the problem here, not that Bitcoin was used as payment. Humans are prone to biases because bias helps us not to become overwhelmed by the diversity of the things and situations we encounter. Moreover, people tend to feel more comfortable around something they're already used to and are not eager to change stuff if the status quo is not terrible. So it's no wonder many are turning against Bitcoin because it's too new and revolutionary, and new often equals dangerous equals bad. So ridiculous arguments that would not be taken seriously if it were fiat instead of crypto in those situations turn into 'relevant' concerns.

If the brain of the perpetrator pays the killer with fiat money, can the value is given to kill be 100% accurate to the police? to be honest, the transaction value of the hitman has been clearly recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain!!

Bitcoin has never cheated or hurts anyone else.  Bitcoin is like a fiat currency which is only a "tool" that criminals use to fix their interests.  how stupid is it a country, governments, or individuals say that Bitcoin is a scam currency or something..

Bitcoin is just a small piece part of the scene, it was used to pay the killer, they could have used fiat or anything that the killer wants to be paid it could be a property or whatever. My point here is that the bitcoin was not as big deal as people interprets it. And to add, I find nothing special with this since bitcoin is just a currency too like fiat, it is highly accessible so people could just use bitcoin in anything they want.

investigating the type of money used in paying for ransom goes a long way to tell you the court does not have an idea of how crypto works and thereby seek for understanding before continuing with the case. They are already used to similar cases involve fiat so the court does not need to study fiat unless they need more proof concerning the circumstances in which the money is being given. Throughout the world, people carry embezzled money and hide it in foreign accounts. Should will now ban fiat for that ?, definitely no

I just the payment method should not really matter at all since the point here is the crime committed, and I think it just the fact that it was used illegally even if it was fiat money or bitcoin as long as it is used illegally.

Digital transactions on bitcoin maybe could be used as evidence since transactions could be recorded at some point, also bitcoin cannot really be fully banned in a country because it is a decentralized currency.

People are just getting the wrong idea because bitcoin is used illegally and mostly something like deep web transaction where bitcoin is the common currency.

There have already been studies in the United States and Europe on the use of bitcoin by criminals.  Among the use of cryptocurrency for criminal purposes, bitcoin accounted for only a few percent.  Bitcoin is actually very little used by criminals due to the fact that it is not completely anonymous and under certain circumstances can be traced by law enforcement agencies.  However, even if it were often used for criminal purposes, it is only a means of crime in the hands of malefactors.  For example, many people are constantly being killed with the help of kitchen knives or cars.  However, it never occurs to anyone to prohibit the use of cars or kitchen knives.  Therefore, this problem is contrived.

It is true. in the case of crime using bitcoin transactions, media that hates bitcoin will scapegoat bitcoin so that people think that bitcoin is only used by criminals. Though it's not like that. Many crimes use fiat transactions, but there is no prohibition against using fiat money.

This incident has took place years ago. By that time the darkweb usage of bitcoin is quite high. Now this has changed a lot. For the purpose of staying anonymous the transaction was done through bitcoin. The usage of cryptocurrencies into crime is very small compared to the fiat. The same if done through fiat transaction this could've been a common news.

Bitcoin usage on illegal activities were found high in the past, and now things have changed. Upon few incidents people who are new to cryptocurrency have negative thoughts on bitcoin. To this it is a must to have proper understanding about bitcoin, so that one can use it for the good than thinking negatively.

Bitcoin has grown so much to be valuable and that means, there is nothing anyone or group of people can do to make it look otherwise; no one can really rebel against Bitcoin that's just it. That someone used Bitcoin to carry out a bad act is not enough reason to think people will rebel against it, same thing can still happen with fiat, it's just a matter of what the parties want; but another question I asked myself is, why Bitcoin and not other coins? The answer is simple, because it is valuable just as fiat is, hence meeting the need at that point in time.
Also, as for India, was it not this year or late last year that they adopted Bitcoin (can't really remember) whichever it is, India is still growing in crypto related matters hence nothing much to worry about. The truth is, nowadays I hardly bother of what anyone or country thinks about Bitcoin, because at this stage and with the level of attention it is getting, they can either adopt it or stand on the sidelines and watch others do exploits with it as well as with its blockchain.
