How to earn merits?

This topic on how to earn merits has been used over and over again by so many users asking for merits or on how to earn it. The question is that why these type of questions had always ask and never end?

So, How we should stop users asking repetitive questions like on how to earn merits?

Getting merits a tough task?
Well, it depend on your attitude and skills. Getting merit is difficult because there are many users here that are deserving for it and the forum wanted to give it to those who really deserve it or to the users that are actually helping a lot for the forum and also to other users.
However, the issue here should not be all about how tough to earn merits instead it is how are you doing in the forum.

For example, Are you helpful enough? Being kind to other users? Responsive? etc....So what should you do?

Assess yourself!
If it happen that you were rewarded with 100+ merits in 120 days then I can say that you are an asset for the forum due your dedication, time, skills, knowledge or motivations imparted by the other users. This means that you are not a liability or adding problems to the moderators of the forum. But if it happen that you are receiving few or no merits at all then it is time for you to do something about it.

If ever you are asking the questions on what you should do to earn merits or how to earn merits then here is my own guide in how to earn merits.

My short guide on how to earn merits

1. Establish a posting habit or what you are in the forum like,
* Always report posts to the moderator using the report button to posts that are irrelevant to the OP
* share awareness and report scam sites, i.e phishing sites, hacking activities, fake give aways especially here in this section for awareness to every crypto users.
* Share your knowledge in cryptocurrency like you should not hold back on if you think that could help a lot of users here.
* Posts that are showing statistics are needing time to gather data and present it into a post but that kind of posts will be useful especially in future studies as reference for cryptocurrency or for the forum.
* Share motivational posts that will lift morale of other users just likely what I always did.

2. Bounty hunting shit posts vs. quality posts.
One of the reason why merit source not giving merits is because bounty hunting like posting social media links and other related stuff. Some merits source do not like it and expresses not to give them merits because bounty hunting will resort to shit posting. But, if you are a responsible bounty hunter you may still be rewarded depending on the quality of posts you provide. Deleting social media reports after the campaign projects end is called as responsible bounty hunting.

3. Establish a good attitude towards co-users here in the forum
.
I seen and read some bully posts that are coming from low ranks like member, jr. member and newbie in rank. We should all respect the people here by being not a bully. I understand that your intellectual capacity is higher than the others if you are thinking that way.
You see earning merits is not only by being a quality poster but also on how you establish yourself for being trustworthy, reliable and kind to other users.

4. Never think if forum to earn as a full time job.
If you are here just to earn then you can never get some merits because you are not after the learning instead you are only after the earning.
Reminders, earning here is good but it will not compensate daily expenses especially if you are a bread winner. You can earn huge here if you have the skills to which your service is needed and that you will get paid higher than other users.

5. Make a trademark and make friends here.
Personally I have someone sending a PM to me and told me that he was thankful of the support I gave or provided in my reply to his thread. So, get some friends here and never afraid to ask anyone especially if you are confused or wanted to learn something very specific. The forum is design this way that we can exchange our ideas and ideals that can help one another.

Do things that you think you can be helpful with or without thinking about receiving merits. Do not think of merits as something very important for you to learn. Learning is never because you are receiving a lots of merits. Merits is never a barometer to how much you learn.

Lastly, do not ask anyone here on how to earn merits instead do things that could help you learn without minding it. Many users here are good and they can reward it to you without you expecting to receive the merits. Just mind what you think you are doing right for the other users and for the forum and again do not expect anything else.

I understand those beginners who are asking how they could earn merits in this forum because I also did that thing before when I was a beginner, I noticed that some members here have good amounts of merit and I am wondering how they could gain those numbers of merits. I admired those members before until now. The wrong thing about it is that they keep on asking about it even though it is already posted so many times, it is because they didn't notice the search engine above, which is good for finding things they want to know

There are some members who keep on asking about how they could earn merit and rank up but still keep on being active in bounty.

...Because there are members who do not want to take the effort to read and participate in the forum. Most of the 'how to wan merits' are from newbies or demoted Jr. Members who can no longer profit due to rank restrictions and think making a thread about how to earn merits is one way to get it (they probably have seen one or two users get merited for that).

We can't, as long as there are members who do not want to contribute constructively, but wish to earn from the forum, such questions would pop up every now and then.
You made a decent post and there are so many others littered around the forum, but it would not matter how many there are if the member is not willing to put in the effort to read and research.

I doubt merit would stop being a problem to those with a need to build their rank. As a newbie who isn't familiar with ways of sourcing for you information on the forum, which ever thread that isn't readily displayed on the 1st or 2nd page is considered not what the stress of searching especially with the fact that, beginners are often not familiar with the search botton so, creating a new thread seems like the easy way out. Not like it's the best thing to do but, they've got to do what they feel it's best so long as it doesn't break the forum rules.
And it's the communities duty to guide them through it without being tired. The way I see it, the community has been doing a perfect job and I commend everyone.

For the newbies or beginners like I like to call those of us still building in all aspects, getting familiar with the search botton is pretty useful to us and the forum and only in the absence of a sourced information or the need for an update should a thread be created.

Yes, earning merit is tough task and even if you think you have quality post still not a guarantee that you can receive it because giving off merits is a discretion of a member and not really an obligaton even merit source are also members here that have discretion on how they award the merits. So, just keep up on what you are doing which you think yo were helping or not. It is not already the essence of receiving merit instead it is the essense on how helpful you are in the forum.

On my starting month in the bitcoin, one of the biggest struggles for me is the merit system, and also, this is my first question how to earn merit. After got received the first merit, they give me an idea of what are the possible things to do to earn merit and help my self to rank up by creating a lot of threads, which is helpful and also related to the cryptocurrency its better if there is a relationship on it to prevent it goes to the off-topic section. I accept and help another member which is just new accounts that willing to learn; still, some of the members on the forum asking how to earn merit even they already made a hundred or thousand thread right here just limiting a weekly report on bounty most of the time I made a background check if they have some quality post or just asking merit, rank up to bounty and increase the payment. For me, it's better if we don't always spoon feeding those people.

I did remembered my profile when I was still a bounty hunter that farm in social campaign. I realized its not really good to view in our accounts. So I changed my style and give time to forum I know I am sacrificing some profits from merely campaign but the result was fine. I was able to pulled off a good ranking and bit reputation. I dont deny I am a shitposter before but I did improved myself and go for the best. Now Im good but I'm not closing my doors to altcoin campaigns since I know they are also have some potential.

Its just a matter of perspective. You can still do campaign but don't make your account too much social one which isnt really good in your profile.

Wow! Thank you so much Jademaxsury for your well detailed and comprehensive article, because your article came indeed at the very right time for me. I am new to this Bitcointalk forum and I was about to ask same question, but this article have answered everything I needed to know about how to earn merits and rank.
Thou, I know its never an easy task for beginners like is, most especially me who is still struggling for even one merit, but what keeps me inspired is that even "Full members" and "Legendary members" were onces beginners like us, which means if only we could establish a posting habit, provide quality post, respect co-users, establish relationship and focus on not only earning but also learning in this forum, we too will do better in merits and rank.
So in summary, I was able to capture three things in general, that for you to be able to earn merits and rank, you have:
1. To be helpful enough in the forum
2. Be kind to other users, and
3. Be responsive

Ask thought provoking messages too! We aren't expecting everyone to have a profound understanding of the blockchain, bitcoin or just cryptocurrencies in general. If you've made the effort, and its a thought provoking or encourages interesting discussion based around your question or point made, then I'll be inclined to reward that post with merit, just like a few others around here will too.

I did remembered my profile when I was still a bounty hunter that farm in social campaign. I realized its not really good to view in our accounts. This is quite common, and this is why I believe in a certain amount of leniency. Many new users will be of low quality at the beginning, but they'll develop knowledge, and etiquette over time. There's several very established users within the forum which started off as a typical "spammer" excited by the world of cryptocurrencies, and then developed into a very informed, and useful part of the community. That is something we should be encouraging, and not be so quick to write people off.

Exactly. I understand this cause I am one before. Literally what you had described. So if ever I bumped into those beginners that have some quite misdirection, we should encourage them and correct their thoughts instead of ignoring and degrade them, newbies are always like that. Anyway I do hope that most high rank who came from this understand the situation of those at the foot level. Don't easily judge and always have leniency as we all knew they could be a good user someday.

In my opinion it isn't that tough as the cheat code is available to everyone, it just depends on how you want to use that information. I hardly see any quality poster that goes unnoticed and even though you haven't been noticed, the very moment your post gets the exposure it needs you'll strat recieving the merits. Very fine thread you have created here OP but the issue now is will the newbies be willing to follow the guidelines you have provided.

I believe this isn't the first of its kinda in regards to guides on earning merits but only few do follow the advice and 99% of the time, they turn out successful in gaining of merits. Sending out smerits isn't an obligation to non merit source but the very moment you accept the job of been a merit source, it becomes an obligation.
