The future of gambling? Hamster-powered marble races come to Ethereum

Mia the djungarian 'gamble hamster' will power high-stakes marble races with her trusty hamster wheel.

After just over two years of development, on Sunday a new form of gambling will be released to the Ethereum world on mainnet: hamster-powered marble races.

Powered by Mia, a female djungarian or “winter white dwarf” hamster and her trusty hamster wheel, the project, dubbed “Mia & the Marbles,” is an automated marble-racing and gambling platform from a group of independent developers.

While the concept behind the project may seem… whimsical, in an interview with Cointelegraph the development team for ‘M&M’ revealed how carefully the racing platform has been thought out.

“We guarantee races that are provably fair, provably live and easily-verifiable,” the devs said. “We can guarantee that the races are taking place in real-time and are not pre-recorded. We do this with our provably live video stream that shows the first 8 bits of the current Ethereum blockhash physically on the race track with 8 movable pegs. A high peg stands for a 1, a low peg for a 0.”

Oh wow, this seems interesting. I never expected an IRL marble race, I actually thought it was akin to something like Twitch's Marble race thingy (dunno what it's called, just had the fortune to see it a few times). It looks nice, and the addition of the obstacles being connected as well as the bits of the hash being connected is a nice surprise. Never really thought of it that way, though if there was a way to increase the number of obstacles that'd be nice. A nice basis would be that marble race thingy on youtube.

Ofc, adding this and accommodate it with provably fair elements may be difficult but Idrk. If it were to develop to something like this, then a marble league lead by that lil hamster could well be on its way.

Personally, I have no idea about this game, it's quite new but it seems interesting because it's in the headline of one of the most popular crypto news provider. So this game is not yet present in the existing sites now? I'm just curious.

This is new and only still support ether, according to video, the game is cool and everything about won are recorded on the ethereum blockchain directly, I like it like that. I hope gambling sites will support this too, in a way we can also make use of bitcoin directly to make bet with this kind of new game, and winnings to be recorded directly on the blockchain.

This is quiet an interesting game and honestly I also have no idea about the game and I have to know first if I can trust the gambling site because if not, I wont dare to try this game. I think it's a new launch today, and I think the idea of that game is different from the other games, which is used hamster (if I am not mistaken). But the game integrated using the ethereum network to place the bet, and it is interesting and exciting. Somehow, I remember about pinball game, which is a popular game in real-life, and I think that game has used the idea of that game too.

by looking at the photo the first thing came in my brain is its a game about smashing hamster but on the pic the guy was holding a different hammer and its name was also marble race so im not sure at  all .

this game was new ( was it ? ) so im not convince that it will become the future of gambling . lots of new and weird gambling games have been introduced in the past but none of them became so trendy  but who knows .

It's new to us but I don't know if it's really new in the gambling world, and let's say it's new, it doesn't mean that people will easily accept the game, this is just unique, all I can say for now that's why I'm interested with your thoughts on this game.

I thought it was a game whenever there are fiesta in different city it is when you throw your coins and there are certain rewards on each square that you can get or no rewards when there's no sign in that square. I thought the man is holding the stick and getting the coins. Lol it's quite interesting that there are new type of gambling that can be try now.

However I'm not sure how scalable this is. This resembles more to a sports event than an online casino. If we bet on dogs and horses, why not do it on hamsters too? )

This is going to be hard for people who likes to bet on races. Since this is new, a lot of works they have to do in studying how breeding and conditioning a hamster works to have a healthy body and lively characters in order to know where they are going to place their bets. Also, it's gonna be hard to know just by looking whether the hamster is in good condition or not, because you know, everything could happen in just blink of an eye and your money will be all gone.

No it doesn't exist yet. According to the article, the game will be soon lunched in Ethereum mainnet. It should be actually in beta version in Ethereum testnet but no mention to any contract address for this code. Mayb it's still under developpement .
I search long in Internet but none said anything about this project in the past, all the articles are recent for less than 24 hour ago .

How are we sure of its fairness?

This is becoming like a real life unlike the usual card and dice we play. Marble still can be manipulated so there should be transparency to this and not just us watching the video of every round. Its exciting to see though, we only have 7 ball to pick right?

It doesnt need for you to get some idea but basing off on the video then you can fully understand on what is all about.I presumed that you havent seen the video right?
You should see it first so that you would able to make up some nice inputs about the game which i do see somewhat a unique type.I have seen rat races in the past
and i do feel the same vibe with this one but it do looks interesting but the course is just too short imho.Well, we do like fast results but having that 1 or 2 kind of obstacles are
bit short or a little bit boring. They should at least on making it long to make those balls roll in a random manner.The whole idea is good but it did really just lack of
some obstacles.

It's just like horses, greyhounds and the likes. I think it's much better than cockfighting wherein they will let the rooster fight until one is dead that's the cruel one I think. But if you ever have an hamster you will surely see him running all the time it's like a leisure time to them.

I've seen this kind of game in the past and it's quite amazing though betting with your favorite marble but I'm surprised to see this game here. Actually that hamster's job is only to spin that wheel by running and those obstacles are controlled once that wheel had been spinned.

Have you able to observe that? You are right that the obstacle isn't really that long or simply a short one just like what been mentioned by others above.

Lastly, this do talks about ETH gambling and they should put up bitcoin on this one for it to be relevant into this board.
