however, because messi and ronaldo are still involved in this year's world cup tournament, their contribution is still very much needed by their respective country squads, both argentina or portugal, until the time comes for them to retire. There is no official confirmation, but considering the ages of Ronaldo and Messi, I think it is unlikely that we will see them at the next World Cup. I think Qatar will be their last World Cup.
Honestly, I'm not too worried about Portugal and Argentina. Portugal had a football star Eusebio even before Ronaldo and Argentina also had their football star, Maradona, so I'm sure after Ronaldo and Messi retire from football we will see some new football greats in Portugal and Argentina. These are great soccer nations that have always had great players and national teams, and there is no need to worry about their future.

Agreed with your all statement every good thing has to go with time so right now same situation for these legendary players now they can't give their best, but their presence is surely had some good impact on team and youths which are now going to have to start their best for next few years Messi and Ronaldo were best in last few world cups but right now they are contribution only for the honor or giving good respect to their next generation which will take these spots from them.

Also since Ronaldo is being benched for Manchester United we’ll have to see how well he does in this World Cup, and on the other hand Messi is back in form but I doubt that he alone can take Argentina to the finals, hence my favourite team to lift the World Cup continues to be Brazil.

Ronaldo is 37 years old and this maybe the last time that he is wearing the Portuguese national jersey. So anyway the team need to find new blood to replace Ronaldo. And there are a number of promising players emerging. But I don't think that anyone among them have the capability to fill the vacuum that will be left by CR7. I still remember the hype that surrounded Ronaldo when he played during Euro 2004. And remember the Battle of Nuremberg (2006)? Ronaldo was a big name by then. None of the younger players (Diogo Jota, André Silva, Rafael Leão.etc) can generate the same amount of hype now.
