I quit smoking and buy Bitcoin every week

It looks as if the OP has gone back to his smoking habit.

All the more reason we should be encouraging the OP to stick with the plan and put out the cigarette butts and look to investing in satoshi's with a plan to HODL into the medium to far term future, even if it's only a portion of the funds that they once spend on tobacco products.

Maybe he started making so much money with Bitcoin he could afford to go back to his old habits and yet,,, on more expensive cigarettes;)

But jokes aside, I think a lot of people I am reading about now even in Africa are saving from unnecessary spending and buying Bitcoin. Some guy in Nigeria stopped also ciggies and drinks, and started two years ago just buying small BTC. Now he has a big savings thanks to 50k BTC and he is not stopping!

I decided to quit smoking today and buy Bitcoin every Sunday. A pack of cigarettes I smoke is $10. It cost me $70 per week. So every Sunday, I will buy Bitcoin without checking if the price went up or down. Even if it goes to the moon, I will keep buying. I will edit this post frequently in the future. This Sunday I will start investing $70 in Bitcoin every  Sunday. I will keep this doing as long as possible and let's see what is going to happen.

I believe that at least I will invest in something that I believe, instead of wasting money on unhealthy cigarettes. Maybe some of you can do the same.

Thank you all for your support guys. 1. Week I bought 0,003650 BTC. Even the last 2 days it was cheaper, I waited until Sunday to buy. Rules are rules. I edited my post and let's see what is going to happen.

Btw, to be honest, I couldn't stop smoking completely. But in 3 days I only smoked 5 cigarettes in total. I smoke cigarettes for 10 years. I quit smoking for 1 year before. So I can do it again. Probably I will not smoke more. I feel better now.

I followed Allen Carr's famous Easyway to Stop Smoking method to quit smoking before and in my opinion, it's the best way I have ever tried. I am sure it will work again. For smokers I can recommend this method.

edit: I converted € -> $ to evaluate easily. I invest $70 weekly.

Looks like 7 weeks of no update , specially now that Bitcoin climb up to so high your investment in bitcoin getting smaller each time.

But since you are putting 70$ a week this will change the amount of bitcoin in your wallet.


You have inspire many of us in this project , because you are helping the environment for not polluting the air , you also helps your body by not toxicating your health and Having a funds at the same time.

I don't really want to quit because it relax me and relieve my stress I don't know what would I do without it specially now with this pandemic.
We should find something that could keep us happy and relieve our stress because it is so stressful right now due to the pandemic.

Even though it is small, there are good benefits that you can get, especially for your health to stay healthy without cigarette smoke which can damage your lungs.
The OP method can be a good example of converting cigarette purchases to bitcoin and even if you only make a small amount of bitcoins it will be big in the long run.
In my opinion, quitting smoking is not easy and requires commitment and serious consistency that must be implemented, it is not as easy as it says and I salute the OP.

70$ is a lot of money in my country and I am quite shocked because a pack here is around 3$, that must be a lot of cigarettes. Good thing that I don't smoke because I have a lot of things that I wanted to spend on and cigarette is not one of them. There are helpful apps to keep on track with how much money you are saving by not smoking and that can be psychologically helpful as you have some sort of positive reinforcement for your commitment to stop smoking.

I guess the OP is from Turkey and there the GST is quite high for products such as alcohol and cigarettes. It is the same in most of the EU nations as well. The governments allow alcohol and cigarette sales only because they can be taxed very heavily. Else there is no reason for the government to allow their sales. So you can't really complain about the prices. There are only two options - pay 200% or 300% tax on them, or get ready to live without these products.

I totally agree with what you do, even though investing in Bitcoin has a big risk, but what you do is the right choice, because instead of you spending money to harm yourself by smoking, then you better invest in Bitcoin, so if the price of Bitcoin increases very high in the future (maybe 5-10 years from now), then you will be a rich person at that time, because you buy and invest in Bitcoin every week.

You can still play for free when it comes to game if you really want to enjoy then don't spend much money on it some of games needs strategy not but when you look for pay to win then you can spend more than $1,000 thats too much for a single game even thou you win or lose it doesn't matter because the only thing you want is to enjoy the game and the best thing is to free to play you should try it you will see the difference.

Hahaha kidding aside, if you really want to quit smoking then probably you must have to discipline yourself first in order to stop smoking because st the end of the day if you can't discipline yourself, although you said that you will buy bitcoin every week in order to cut your smoking, it wouldn't be enough. Smokers would definitely be arguing that you do talk about smoking is a bad thing.  Joke aside, this kind of decision in life does really give out two benefits on what you had done

which is you do save up yourself on having some smoker sickness/illness later on and also you do earn up money on the coins you had saved up or invested.

This is actually a good move if you are really serious to quit up smoking plus having that investor like kind of mind.This one isn't easy because this do require very strict self discipline on
doing these things.

My friend stated that he should have bought some bitcoins using the smoking money that he used in the past. But moved on to investing in stocks instead. But still, for me, an investment is still an investment. Whether it is through cryptocurrency, or stock market, or physical assets like gold or silver. It is not good for health, but it helps me relieve stress from the pressures from this market. First of all quitting smoking is really good to your health because once you addicted to the cigarette it is bad and also the cost of this per pack is now expensive because the tax is very high so the price needed to rise the price. Spending your money to buy a bitcoin instead of buying cigarette is one of the best you can do in your life because it will have chance your future to be good like the others who are now earn more money because of the bitcoin.

a wise opinion that you express, but it looks like a cigarette addict is very difficult to stop if there is not the right intention. is it possible to also propose to them for better cigarette money to buy altcoins for investment because it is very profitable. if they can be given understanding, it is likely that they will still be constrained.

whereas by setting aside most of the funds for cigarettes, it can be profitable in the short and long term. it depends on us placing on coins which are indeed increasing and are indeed excited to continue to move up. crypto is a future investment that is very best for now than forex and stocks and gold.
