btc is king, eth is second and xrp is third.

^ your opinion really makes more sense than the OP opinion. Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrencies and will not be able to be overtaken by other cryptocurrencies including Ethereum. Ethereum and Bitcoin will continue to be where they are forever.

Op just shared what he wanted to visualize in the future, and as the technology get more advanced there's always changes in this temporary world. Me also agree that bitcoin is always on the top of all coins right now, but don't treat that as forever. There could possibilities that in the future 10 years, bigger changes will uphold unexpectedly.

If you look at the development of Bitcoin in the past 11 years, it seems unlikely that Ethereum can surpass the Bitcoin market cap
in the next 10 years. Because Bitcoin has always dominated the market for 11 years, and Ethereum has always been below Bitcoin
all this time. So there is very little chance that Ethereum will perform better than Bitcoin, so we have to think realistically about this.

Decentralized projects, it could be dapps, it could be defi, it could be anything and price will always worth a lot because it is used like crazy right now, and there is still a lot of attention and with the surge of defi and the idea of eth 2.0 right now is a perfect time to be an ethereum holder, people made x5 returns in a year thanks to that. However in 10 years we could have something that does everything eth does and does it quicker and cheaper and does more as well, that could really danger ethereums place in rankings.

I did jot agree with your statement that eth marketcap will surpass btc marketcap. Both has different usage and Btc will be the number one forever. About high fees ? Btc will be traded for rich people only and it will be done OTC. It will be store of value like gold now.

It would never happen BTC has no competitor in this field rest of the coins are altcoins including ETH too. Maybe OP don't understand the fundamental which make BTC superior and make it valuable. ETH is born to remain at altcoin because it has a lot of competitor and at the moment suffering with high gas and some critical bugs which could take few years to get fixed.

I have been feeling this for a couple of years now but what we all failed to see was that the competing platforms never got as many developers as they would have preferred to. Talking about NEO, Waves, even TRON for a while.

Getting to the top ranks or spot wouldnt really be an easy challenge for those projects out there and theyre trying their best when it comes to showing some progress and updates towards their project.

There's no assurance to be on the peak because the better the coin/project the more demand it has then its expected that it will surpass into those coins whose above it.Its a matter of time that

we might be seeing some changes and ETH is really hard to believe that can be easily beaten with other top tech.For me, it will take sometime or wont ever come for such chances.

1 decade is indeed a long time and a lot of space for something to improve and lets see on what area they will tend to progress on.

It's just a probability so I won't take it that seriously, the fact is Bitcoin will never remain the same within that 10years interval, things will have change drastically for Bitcoin, Ethereum will be there to take the second place still, forget the probability that Ethereum may have higher marketcap, bitcoin won't stay the same either

No joke, this is the only "unrealistic" claim that I find realistic. Normally I say to people that tells this type of huge claims that they should find something more realistic and close to where we are at that time, like for example saying bitcoin will increase another 50% soon instead of saying bitcoin will go 10x soon, because what I suggest is more realistic.

However we are at a situation where ethereum is moving towards ethereum 2.0 which will have proof of stake which could mean that people will keep their ethereum instead of sell it (like miners did for covering costs) plus it is going to be cheaper to move around compared to now, AND we still have tons of projects all rely on erc20 as well. So I think if any coin could ever go above bitcoin, that will be ethereum.

Maybe even soon than 10 years as the difference between Bitcoin and Ether cap is just 6-fold. And there’s no limit or cap on Ethereum.

But, there is a giant BUT. It would happen only if Ether keeps its leading role in DApps, DeFi and Smart contracts. Polkadot is getting stronger, DASH will get involved in less than a year, etc. Will see.

You have a good point, things could be be different from what we are seeing right now, Ethereum can evolve into something great and adopt on what the society wants, while Bitcoin will stay the same because of it's structure, this is something worth to bookmark and see if things will have some big changes on how we look on this technology.

It seems to me that even today's technical characteristics of Ethereum, without taking into account future updates, are in many ways superior to other altcoins, and I quite seriously think that ETH is also superior in many parameters even to Bitcoin. Of course, Ethereum is unlikely to reach some 23,000 dollars, but the volume of capitalization and the level of market dominance can be compared with Bitcoin, it is quite capable of it.

In order for Ethereum to replace and surpass Bitcoin, it needs to go through the transformation from digital silver to digital gold. How to do it - there is not a single recipe.
