Newbies always have it in the back of your mind that where ever money is flowing through scammers and con artists will be waiting to take advantage of you, today almost everyone wants to be a developer, there is no certificate of qualifications to be a crypto developer, tokens are so damn easy to build through smart contract platforms, I can build one myself and find a good name for the project with probably old existing use case but I don't have the heart to cheat people, developers want to ride the crypto wave for the money that's why most new projects have short life span, we have so many unqualified developers in our midst, they are here for your money, know where to put your hard earned money and also take limited risks

Not necessarly from the source code of other projects Op mentioned that it's easy to build your own project using smart contracts form available networks (ethereum,waves,tron) for free. It's almost free and easy to create your own token within Ethereum for example, but you would need more skills (or to hire someone) for other forms of projects .

i suspect most of the scammers are just posers as devs. the page of the website doesn't even have details of what they were dong.

if they are really good programmers and are well connected they might get a lot of funds if they  do an ICO. i think that's how it all started with the ICO mania. but  wouldn't settle for just developer though. its not a very high status. you don't even sound successful when labelled Developer unless its related to real estate.  anyone can release a token with just a click but you  should call yourself Founder, being pioneer sound a lot better.

This is the reason why you can see a lot of plagiarism here, just go to scam accusations board. And also, buying a domain and creating content is very easy nowadays. There are free templates that they can use but some still manage to copy someone else's project. And yes, creating a token is easy peasy. There are even tutorials how to create one. Now, if the team knows how to market their project, they can deceive naive buyers and once they collect something, they can disappear without a trace. So if you are an investor, better look for warning signals and not be screwed by these scammers.

Very right but it's really a mess that we can't know which developers deserves to be called one, on LinkedIn there are many people with fake qualifications on there, trying to find companies that will hire them to work online, it's such a shame what crypto space have turned into in this part, I wish for regulations but it still won't affect many projects like privacy coins and DeFi projects for example, only centralized exchanges and projects can be affected

I haven't see a new project that the CEO will claim that he know nothing about blockchain, if he say that no one will dare invest their money on such Projects right? So either they are qualified dev or not they have to call themselves pro developers, you can only detect the truth from how the team handle the project as time goes by

I do hope there is some kind of certificate to identify people that are professionals in blockchain but it's not going to be possible, it's why many believe that regulations is the only solution to scams in crypto space, there must be a way to identify what's good and what's bad or else for many years to come scammers will keep trampling on the weak

If you can build a token based crypto project you can call yourself a developer, it's very easy to become one today without any expert in the field since we have smart contracts that can automatically build any, this is why too many fake and scam tokens

This is a very old topic, there are very, very few real projects. Since the ICO, such projects have multiplied in batches, only the lazy did not create them. As for the cryptocurrency, deceptions have been and will be. Therefore, everyone needs to know this and not rely on the promises of the developers. Develop your thinking, learn to analyze, proceed with caution, and take your time. And only after careful analysis can you believe in the project, and even then with a fair amount of skepticism.

Hopefully I can learn to check certificate or source code in order to recall the past history if it to see if the project is scam or not. Is it easy to verify the source code and if it has been used before? I do not really know if it will be possible but the info you have provided here is really something that I should start to learn something about cryptocurrency. I am trying to educate myself but do not know where to start. LOL!

Correct me if I'm wrong but what op is saying is a person with a programming background in the development of the project, and you can tell if a person is just pretending to be a developer, I can tell because I'm working with a group of developers, that is why I can tell if he's just a fake or not, but its true that they can build through a smart contract, but you can see or judge it on how it turns out.

You must be kidding bro  Anybody can say they are a developer unless they show their projects and prove how good of a developer they are.
Creating a token using pre-built platforms might be easy but creating a cryptocurrency out of scratch is difficult.
Creating a wordpress site using drag and drop functions might be easy but creating the whole website using HTML, CSS and JS is time consuming.
At the end, you might get the resultant product but how you get is what makes you a developer.
This world is filled with scammers and all those people who show themselves as developers without any proof of their hardwork can be considered as scammers.

P.S : If it was so easy to become a developer I would have become a bitcoin core developer yet here I am struggling to lay my hands on the basics.
