Yes, it's your right to ask about their project, if you are an investor and have doubts about the project they are developing.

If he ask the official thread about a suggestion whether he will buy the coin or not, the answer he may get is probably biased since the project owner will definitely promote his own.  I think it is better this way asking the community about their input on a self-funded project.

I can say I commend the developer for pushing the project without milking investors of their money, but selling or dumping their token to the market is another story.

popularity
development
connection/partners
competency
coin distribution
the practicality of the roadmap
capability of developers
products

at least we can compare these stuffs to other projects and see if it can compete against the leading cryptocurrency on its category.

It's risky investing in any project where the devs control the supply. I prefer to invest in POW projects like RVN and 0xMR, that way nobody can dump on me, exit scam, or rugpull.

Who told you that  POW projects can't exit scam? I've mined over 20 different altcoins in 2017 to 2018 and only very few survived, only loki, haven protocol, Electroneum, and few others are still alive today, too many POW projects turned scam and dump tokens on investors
