Poloniex have apparently been contacted, it's a real shame about cryptoaltex I know they worked hard to get up and running and did a lot for coins like GBC.

Yeah it's a shame indeed. It worked really well and deserved support and volume but sadly didn't get it.

Thank you for your helpful and insightful post Sparky.

I doubt that cryptoaltex ceasing business was a direct result of the quietness surrounding the GB Coin. You know the Brits are a bit reserved and tend to just get on with things quietly. I expect an exchange or three will start trading GBC in the near future. In meantime the coins flow nicely, and optimists and risk takers will mine a few GBC so they don't miss out later.

I've been talking to Adrian on the GBC team about some ideas to get this moving.  I've noticed that some of the old pools aren't working.  I spoke to Boxxa and he has kindly added his NOMP pool to GBC mining - it works like a P2Pool  (no signup, just use your wallet address as username) and it's up and working fine.

These are the currently working pools:

NOMP: http://pool.nonstopdev.com/

XHASH: http://www.xhash.net/

POOLERINO: http://gbc.poolerino.com/

CRYPTOCOINZ: http://gb.crypto-coinz.com/

What would be ideal would to be getting merged mining pool with GBC/VTC/MON/PLX - I have suggested to Adrian that a bounty of at least 20,000 GBC should be offered to this (I'm happy to contribute 10,000 myself if required).  If anyone knows anyone who has the capability of doing this and would be interested please pass the information on.

For those of us who have been mining this coin the most important thing is to get more miners and raise awareness.  So do all you can to spread the word get more pools.  I spoke to Bittrex exchange and they said they respond to Twitter pressure and particularly original and interesting tweets.  So please start tweeting them and asking them to add GBC.

Also just for notification purposes there is a FAKE GBC attempting to launch too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=625791.0

I was referring to any new exchange taking the GBcoin, not cryptoaltex ceasing trading.

Maybe they are working quietly...very quietly

It has taken over a month to register a page worth of posts on this forum and the last meaningful post on their own official forum was about a month ago.

It would be interesting to see if the 1% premine is still sat in the Devs wallet  Roll Eyes

I have been mining with Poolerino on and off since day 2 (the delayed start meant I had to go to bed!) however before I go promoting this to my mining friends I would like to see a post on here from Adrian or Dave to bring us up to date with the state of play or intentions for the near future.
I see ENC are at just about to go on Mintpal, I wonder if GBC could merge mine with them?

Well it looks like the devs can't be bothered with this.  Have sent Adrian numerous emails which he hasn't even bothered to respond to.  If the GBC team has this kind of attitude then why should we care?  There are pleny of other cryptocurrencies that have lots of innovation, fully committed and competent teams and it is hard for them to succeed.  Why would anyone waste time here any more?  Unless something seriously changes I'm giving up on this.

It would be good if the devs did chip in now and again to update this thread with either some news, if there is some, or at least a response to posts put here by people interested in the GBCoin.

We, the miners, can help by at least voting for GBC to be included on one of the exchanges. I'll be continuing to vote for GBC to be added to the swisscex and allcoin exchanges, at some point it would be good to 'rush' the coin to the top of the list by using some Bitcoins at an opportune time.

I will continue to mine GBC as I believe that, despite the quietness of the devs at the moment, this coin has a future in the future (Cheesy). I'm still watching and waiting to see how much affect the current batch (and next batches) of ASICs have on the more established coins. Until it is known what this does to other coins using whatever method (SHA256, scrypt, etc.) I think any alt coin that isn't affected by a big hike in difficulty can increase its value and desirability to miners - I like to see coins being earned regularly rather than extremely small points of coins per day.

There aren't many crypto currencies you can use to buy goods or services currently, whatever coins we choose to mine it'll always be a gamble as to which ones succeed and which don't. There are some oddly named coins out there accompanied by large doses of BS as to where its going and what you'll be able to do with it. All crypto currencies are young, even the experiment called Bitcoin! So picking winners now, next year or in five years is extremely hard.

As the difficulty on GBC drops the coins flow faster I'll be taking my chances mining the coin for a good while longer. At some point the coin will be trading on an exchange even if it takes weeks or months.

My 0.000000000000002BTC worth

(I didn't get to where I am today...... Cheesy)

Hi guys,

I spoke to Adrian and he hasn't been ignoring me - just a misunderstanding.  Unfortunately the other members of the team have had to leave the project due to other commitments so Adrian has been left to manage on his own.  What we need are new members to join the team and help out.  We also need as many ideas as possible from the community to try to move things forward.  If you believe in the potential of this coin as I do then please help out any way you can.

Bogged down with work related stuff sorry guys, Dave and Sara have opted out so I'm gonna try and get some other people involved, there are a couple of people helping out on the forums and I'm going to push forward as much as I can myself.

I will be offering bounties based on performance so anyone interested in trying to put us onto an exchange or new pools please let me know.

Excellent.  Me too.  I have it on a timer to alert me to click.  Adrian now has the block explorer working.  Once we get on an exchange we can then submit to CoinMarketCap too:)
