Unfortunately there will be a lot of money lost to bad projects, because people love to buy those projects at high prices and they will sell lower, when they sell lower some other people will buy it and that will go even lower and they will lose money to and sell it and it will keep going like that losing a lot of people a lot of money in total.

We can't stop people from investing into bad projects because we do not know which projects will be bad neither, hence we just wait and see and learn which ones will be good and which ones will be bad. Obviously speaking we are in a situation where we could probably invest only into very well known big name coins, but that is going to be something we can barely make profit from, sure on a great run it could make you 3x or so profit but that is rarely and not all the time, even bitcoins greatest recent run made people only 4x, so people go look for newer projects to make x10+ returns.

Many would just get delisted either due to no volume or no future and this has happened over last few years. So those who just invest in any coins without any proper research may find themself in bad shape. Either need to have a great research backing to invest in a coin or investing in the top altcoins are the normal things people do who cannot afford too much risk.

Many ARE delisted, you see 7-8 thousand there but most of them are delisted, for example places like binance have limited amount of listed coins whereas there are thousands of coins, that means there are exchanges that lists these small timers right?

Well, the problem here is that, how low does it get, at certain point even the smallest of exchanges will not be listing coins that have daily volume under 100 dollars, there is no point of putting a coin and working hard to list it just so you could have maybe 0.1 dollars profit from it everyday, that is 36 dollars a year, it doesn't really worth it. So that means top 1000 will be listed, all others will be delisted or will be incredibly funnily low in numbers and thats why you will not see it continue for a long time. Which is why I believe we are talking about only the big ones most of the time, nobody cares about the low ones.

Some of these coins will takes a lot of time before they pump in the market. There project will take years before they will develop and a lot of improvements are needed in order for them to be recognize in the market. As we can see, most of 2017/2018 tokens have gone and I think it will be the same if the same mistakes that the project team will do. Some related crypto project like gambling, exchange and other promising project will definitely survive but if they survive 1-2 years, we're not sure if they still survive after it. If the rally will continue and alts will still pump in upcoming months left in 2021, few tokens will be eliminate.

That is what survive will mean for all of us that do not have any other data. Since we do not know and can't know if one will survive and if the other will survive, all we do is just check out which coins are the most demanded and talked about and liked, and depending on that we just end up putting two and two together and just decide which ones will survive.

It all depends on whether the upward trend continues and how long it continues. Taking the theoretical assumption that the bull run will be there by the end of 2021, no matter how many coins are gone, more will appear. This is always the case when there is an uptrend in the cryptocurrency market.

The "survive" is mainly not being delisted by major exchanges, and even minor ones. There are so many coins that are not listed anywhere at all, and now there is uniswap for all the new ones to get "listed" on which is not even getting listed actually, but you see even selling 100 dollars worth of it changes the price 20%+ and that means it is not traded at all, and there isn't even a proper liquidity provided for it neither.

So basically, any coin you change 20%+ with just 100 dollar sale means that it is dead, could it recover from that? Very very slim chance, but maaaybe possible, however it won't recover to anywhere meaningful neither. So basically nearly zero volume total is the "dead" response in crypto. And I believe there are thousands upon thousands of them and there will be even more in 2021, we are going to keep getting more and more of those every year.

indeed there are lots of coins but don't be fooled by the amount, just choose coins that have the potential to get a profit, maybe just playing with 20 tokens is enough so that your head doesn't get too dizzy.

In fact, every year, only about 20% of the good projects out of the shitcoins are born. Altcoin NFT has a great opportunity and a good trend to invest in and it is quite certain that it will survive.

In my opinion, NFT will be born and develop more than the rate of altcoins that develop utility solely on smart contracts. After AXS hit $1 billion in sales since the launch of their platform, today, CryptoPunks also met their $1 billion in sales from their NFT. Very well said! there are so many new tokens that are created but not all tokens are good and well manage by the owner. For me, you should invest in a popular coin than a new one.

10% ?  I think it's too big.  I am more optimistic only 1-2% because not all coins are able to survive in the crypto market and remember 95% of crypto coins are coins that have no development.  only a few crypto coins still survive today.  plus new coins created may not necessarily be able to compete in the crypto market in the long term

I agree that not many coins will survive, considering that most of the coins in circulation are just shitcoins that have no clear use. Moreover,
new projects keep popping up, making coins that do not have a high demand will become dead coins. Therefore, always do research and analysis
before deciding to invest, don't let us invest in the wrong coins. If we choose the wrong coins, then we will throw away the money we have.

 I think 20% is a big number, in this crypto industry very few coin has life means development or use to our society or solving some problems otherwise many coins have been created for buy sell or get scammed. Personally I have suffered many scam or leaving the market coin in my career. As a trader or investors we have to be very scary about new project. 99% new project are just time pass. A lot in my opinion but of course only those projects that continually making hype in the market up to now has the potential to survive , wherein not those altcoin that seems very steady and no enough sign of good progress, especially old coins that stuck up and new projects that suddenly fell after making hype in the market and no good results after all.. Be careful on new projects in investing, especially for the long term. so many projects appear every day, and we are going to analyze all of them, my analysis error is very possible. therefore choosing a major coin is highly recommended, and using a small portion of capital for new projects will also increase our profits besides having a comparable risk

You are right. There are many altcoins. They appear every day especially during hype around crypto. I am not in favour of investing in new coins. I can participate in airdrop, but not just buy such coins that have nothing but a good marketing campaign. And all good projects are waiting for a quieter time when there will be real investors who are interested in the project, but not only in fast income.

It is more about how many of them will finish in positive while others in negative. When you look at year to date of many coins you will see that they are in big big profit, even if there is a huge drop in the middle, the increase at the start of the year made it possible for it to be super high even after that drop. Like for example, bitcoin was around late 20's and low 30's at the start and it is much higher than that even though it has managed to drop from 64k dollars.

This is why I honestly believe that there is a good chance some of the coins may end up with still a profit but a negative all around because it is still dropping. So, we need to check the average how much coins increased, what bitcoin did, and then compare it with others. If the crypto world is 50% up and a coin is only 5% up that is not good neither. Those type of things calculated with data and can be used as proof for the result of this question.
