Its not the case anymore I think... These two leading the market right now is on their own league. They are still leading and still growing. Volumes are getting high rapidly especially on ETH knowing that ETH 2.0 is coming soon. This is what drives ETH more. People are expecting more out of it.

ETH has gain a new ATH now and yes there are crypto that is really good for long run that would give you a huge profit just like BTC,
That is why you need to choose wisely where to invest for long term hold not every crypto is great for long term investment and it is the same for short term investment there are seasonal crypto so better clear up your mind when investing,

With a gas price $20 a transaction, all the smart contract (specially defi) are non functional. The ETH have no choice than crashing their own currency to keep it working.
Stable coins are already moving to new smart contract blockchains, they are buying now in order to crash the ETH very soon.
If ETH continues to go up, then it will become a sub Bitcoin trading only currency, which I don't think will work.

Frankly there is no comparison between ETH and Bitcoin. In 2017 Bitcoin reached an all time high and so did majority of alts.

Coming to 2021 ETH is in way better position then most other altcoins. Just go and check coinmarketcap for the top 50 and you will know.

The reason why ETH pumped in 2017 was because by the end of the year altcoin season started as Bitcoin dominance went down. In 2021 it is yet to start as Bitcoin is still pumping and still dominating the market.

if you compare the price of bitcoin and ethereum it is very different because ethereum always follows the price of bitcoin. Sure enough, in 2017 a new altcoin season will arrive but the price of bitcoin has started to plunge deeply and caused the ethereum price to drop very deeply.

The most important factor was the complete collapse of the ICO market. Back in 2018, there were a few well known ICOs, which turned out to be scams. The reputation of the ICO sector took an irreversible hit, and along with that the ETH prices also got hurt. That was the main reason for the crash in ETH prices.

Unfortunately buying low is not only scam but also "ethereum is dead" was vivid around everywhere, just because ethereum price went down (albeit a lot) didn't mean that the coin itself was gone and would never come back, the fact that ethereum stead in top 3 during all of those falls is the example that it was always doing great and never did that bad. This is why I think it is quite important that we should focus on ethereum going down as something as a whole in crypto markets as a whole and not just on ethereum base.

I personally saw those falls many times in crypto and if one coin goes down all by itself, like how XRP did a month or two ago, that is a problem for the coin itself but if the whole crypto market falls there is nothing wrong with the coins and you can buy them when they are cheap and you can sell them when the crypto market goes up together.

Ethereum increased in price contributed to the increase in the price of the of erc-20 from a wallet to the other but Defi contributed more because of the gas war experience in the platform all in the name of getting quick tokens.

When you compare now and then, I don't think Ethereum will crash the way it did back in the previous performance. So many things are put in place and the hope of eth2.0 will make people to hold.

Yep, I was in crypto sphere in 2017 and saw the massive spike of ETH and then it's sudden downfall when it reaches around 70$-80$, and it was the worst, the first bearish trend that I've encountered. But as what the old timer say, it will make you stronger when you see your portfolio going down, don't sell but instead by at this fucking dip. And if we did follow this tip, I'm sure we could have been millionaires by now if we buy a lot of Ethereum that time. Big big lesson to all of us. So in the future, if we ever see another bear market, think of the past and make the right decision.

Exactly. I moved to fiat at $1400, thinking that it would crash soon, but Mr Elon Musk changed the fate and bought some time. Alt season is coming, and like every time it is better to be safe than late! It will happen brutally and if you are still in the game at this time, you will be under the wave for quite a long time...
I am surprised that it still standing at such a hi value with all the problems and bad news for ETH; gas price, USDT that moved to Tron chain and basically all exchanges encouraging the smart contract creators to move to TRC20 asap.
