Hey, got my hands on some 3080 and 3070 and I am starting to GPU mine.

Since I don't know what motherboard/CPU/PSU to buy, what would you recommend for the 4x3080 rig and 7x3070 rig (2 separate rigs)

Thanks

What about calymore, or other mining software?

Also, what about the hardware, can you recommend something that fits my rig?

You are a newbie so it could be hard for you to configure miners yourself, you can start your journey with mining OS like hiveOS, Minerstat, simplemining OS or Nicehash, they are easy to use for any newbie, all you will need to drop is your withdrawal address

Separate rigs equals good ventilation and less heat, I recommend separate rigs, I'm guessing your motherboard can't support 28 GPUs already cos I haven't seen such motherboard before, find two motherboards and separate the graphic cards will be better

You lucky,i wish i had rtx cards
If you are going to with 2 rigs then i would pick:
mobo: gigabyte h110-d3a(6GPUS), biostar b250 btc, these are cheapest and not bad. asus b250 mining expert,
Cpu : g3900,3920,3930 or pentium g4400, what you can fine  cheap
RAM : 8G
SSD : 120G
PSU for 4 3080 minimum 1200w,recomended get 1600w like seasonic but they are very expensive. get 2 1600w psu good one. dont forget running them undervoleted or power limit then you will be fine.

For beginner just start with hiveos or nicehash. maybe nicehash will be more easy for start. you just need install windows and download nicehash.

I've never heard about RaveOS, is it new mining software or old? Can you drop me link to the official website or link to the software itself? I will like to do comparisons between all available mining OS in the coming days

as my knowledge nicehash, not mining. its shares our hardware power to hash power buyers.i don't know about hiveOS. is it also same as nicehash?

Divide them by 4, and get 1200W HP Platinum rated server power supplies dead cheap and happy mine Smiley . For around 60-80$ including breaker board and cables is no brainer, pico board lets round it to 90$ for a Platinum rated server grade power supply. Forget about evga, seasonic etc.

There is a biostar and asus motherboard that supports up to 16 graphic cards, you can search on amazon I'm sure you will see the motherboards on there, all your cards are  11 pieces so they can all work in a single motherboard, this will reduce your costs on equipments too, get some risers and huge power pack to power all the graphic cards

1200 watt power pack can't power the whole cards, OP said he has 7x 3070 and 4x 3080, that's over 1300 watts for the cards alone minus the motherboard power draw, 2000 watt power pack will do the job better or even 2400 watts

It's not worth wasting time on this, because everything is already known.
raveos lets you use 3 farms for free and is the easiest system to set up. For this, a 4 GB flashcard is enough.
But as the difference in price between 4 GB and 16 GB is a few dollars, it is better to purchase on a USB flash drive 8 or 16 GB

Thank you for your answers. I still have a couple of questions about PSU's. Sorry if I sound dumb, I am very new to this lol Grin

For now, let's say I only have 7x3070. One 3070 card needs a 2x8pin connection, so that means I need two 8pin both end cables to run one card, right? If so, that means I need a PSU with 2*7=14 PCIE slots? I am not including risers because someone suggested me using splitters that go from the cable that plugs in the card.

Also, I saw that there is a Delta electronics DPS-2400ab PSU and I am not sure if I can use it, as it has 6pin slots in it. https://skelbiu-img.dgn.lt/1_18_3067164755/psu-evga-1000w-g2-antec1000w-2600w-platinum.jpg

You just need to do some diggings on power supplies, the best one among the ones I owned is a power color that has multiple gpu cable options, both 6pins and 8pins, I'm guessing around 12 different 8pins and can use 6pins out of the 8pins too cos it's convertible, do research mate, some power pack are bad ass

If you can't find a single power supply with multiple gpu supports you can buy two separate power packs and use, but not finding means you aren't looking deep enough, go on Aliexpress or ebay, I'm sure you will be amazed with what you can find
