Is there a limit on the number of password change attempts? For example, if a person changes their password every other day, would this be considered a suspicious activity?

I met an interesting profile on the site https://bpip.org/Profile?p=Yatsan
I want to ask, is this some kind of error, or really, there were attempts to change the password at such an interval? Did something happen when you changed your password?
I say right away that this is just an accidental find. Nothing personal.

It probably isn't limited the number of times you can change your wapssword. The admin team. Might investigate it though if it looks too much and nuke you (eg before you end up filling the seclog with yourself too much).

I didn't see or experience any website that limits the changing of the account's password.

I only see this is just a security measure of the owner, though it's really strange how he change password in just a matter of day I mean everyday like the 1/13/2020 - 1/16/2020.

You can change your bitcointalk account password anytime you want, I remember when I changed from one device to another, I also change my password because I do make use of long password with characters than can not be known off hand which is the type of password that supposed to be used for accounts that are very important. Anytime I want to move from one device to another and if the backup is not with me as it has happened to me before because it is offline on paper, I make use of change password when it is offline back is beyond my reach at that particular time. If changed it will work which indicate you can change password of your bitcointalk at anytime you want.

What would have caused the user to be changing his password can be as a result of not doing backup his password and if he wants to change from one device to another, he will have to make use of change password if the username or the email used is remembered. This is not a good idea because it is better to make use of password backup but it can actaully work and complete your mission of getting access to your device when password is not known, far away or not forgotten but it is not advisable at all to be changing password all the time, doing recoverable backup will be better in a way no one will be suspecting the account.

It is advisable to change the password from time to time, of course for security reasons. I don't think anyone will cause problems for a legitimate user because of that, but the question will certainly be whether the account has changed owner if after changing the password there is a change in writing style or if the old/new owner suddenly starts writing in a local board where it was not the case before.

Why @Yatsan is changing passwords so often is known only to him, but unless he's too paranoid, what comes to my mind is the possibility that he may have used a public or insecure computer, so he wanted to make sure no one would get his password in some way.

Not as far as I'm aware, and I'm not sure this is something that could even be considered suspicious? Its recommended to change your password every so often, most places recommend every fortnight, or every month. Everyday is a little excessive, but considering the password is being changed onsite, its implying that whoever is changing it, knows the previous password, and it isn't just being changed via email which could indicate a compromised email.

I'm not really sure what to make of this, except for monitoring the user to see if any behaviour changes. Other than that, it might just be a very excessive security routine.

It probably isn't limited the number of times you can change your wapssword. The admin team. Might investigate it though if it looks too much and nuke you (eg before you end up filling the seclog with yourself too much).
I don't know what the procedure would be, but I'd assume they would just ask a few questions to the person that is changing the password if there is any reason to be suspicious.

I don't know how he can manage too many passwords like that and it is only for the account on the forum. If he acts the same for other accounts of his, it will be weird. Change password too often can create a mess if one day, you lose control of the newest password and can not find which one is the newest in hundreds or thousands of passwords are saved.

If passwords are used or changed are not randomly generated, it will be bad as he can repeatedly makes some similar passwords with minor difference in between.

I am not sure if this mention will be relevant but Yatsan being from the Philippines. it is possible that he is using a computer from an internet cafe at the time. there have been cases that I know of where other people download an app or a malware that record everything that is typed on a computer on an internet cafe. him changing the password may be a security measure to at least prevent any hacker to compromise his account.

would this be considered a suspicious activity?
Monitoring account behavior is the right answer if changing hand owner, it may also change the posting habit and writing style as well.  This means that there's suspicious activity on this account.

IMO it could be that the user login his account on the internet cafe and choose "always stay logged in" which is if you forgot to log out, the next customer of that internet cafe will be able to access his account.  For security purposes, changing password is necessary, but I don't think how come that was frequently changed in almost a day.  However, the only @yatsan will answer this and I think he was able to notify by now in the telegram bot notifier.

Regarding the question of how many times you will change your password, I think there's no specific rule about this.

That is the reason why I didn't change my password even at once, you might be suspected of suspicious activity.  Staking an old Bitcoin address is necessary to prove the same ownership.

I met an interesting profile on the site https://bpip.org/Profile?p=Yatsan
Very interesting, but I would say there are nothing to be suspicious. The user is simply paranoid. I am also a paranoid guy when it comes to privacy. I think we all have these kinds of space in different things where we overdo it. Noting is wrong with this though.

Regarding the question of how many times you will change your password, I think there's no specific rule about this.
A paranoid database designer may have a counter for this too LOL
But it's very unrealistic. A user can reset their password infinite times if they want.

It's really amazing and I did not see it yet here or another site that someone changed their password so many times like this Yatsan. And it's really something uncommon and it's normal to be curious to know the reason Smiley behind it. It will not be cleared until Yatsan response here and say about the miracle why he is doing this. Member you posted changed password a lot of times, and there is no harm in doing this but I also don't see any real reason for doing this so often.
Maybe he just used different devices and only way to log in was with password reset.

You can find it suspicious and it is odd but there's no rule about it. Many people change their passwords often but doing it daily is overkill unless he has some good reason for it.

Well changing it daily would do little as if the connection is compromised then a hacker would likely have it straight away. There's better ways to protect yourself if using a public connection is something you're worried about.

would this be considered a suspicious activity?

I don't know this person and haven't looked at his posts. Based on the large number of password changes alone, I think he has probably sold his account, or is planning on selling his account. In order to sell an account, you need to change the password a number of times, and the repeated password changes might be a way to cover this up when the account is actually sold.

Unless you have knowledge of a password compromise, you generally do not need to change your password as long as it is sufficiently complex. Frequent password changes will lead to you using more simple passwords, and to forgetting your password more frequently.

I think there is no limitation because it looks like the rights of the user to change whenever they feel it's unsafe like someone knows their account.

Also, I think there are no violations if you make a lot of password change for sure the moderators will notice that and make a background check if they think something changes like the posting history, activity, or any suspicious action they will now start to observe and potentially lock/tag the account.

Is there a limit on the number of password change attempts? For example, if a person changes their password every other day, would this be considered a suspicious activity?
Suspicious activity is an activity that differs from the usual, if this is familiar to Yatsan then it is not considered suspicious to her.
The same might be suspicious for someone who has never changed their password.

The reason will be in not remembering the password and using many devices, perhaps you should choose a difficult password so that the account is not hacked, remember the email, and ask for a new password whenever you want to log in.

When you contacted @Yatsan prior to starting this thread, what was their response? I've come across other UID's that have changed their passwords seeming too often, but certainly not as frequently as this person has.
