Looks more expensive than the additional cost of just buying 8GB cards from the 'pay dirt' of selling your 4GB cards.

I don't want to click the link because it looks suspicious however I don't think this can easily be done. You can buy the GDDR chips and use heat to take the old chips off and then surface mount the new chips but it wont work right off the bat, you will probably need to upgrade other components and you will need some special firmware.

Maybe if we all had $1000 GPUs which were just sitting idle it would be worth the hassle but you can just sell your 4GB and add some money and just get an 8GB model. It would be much less hassle then doing major surgury on all your GPUs. Right now there is huge demand for GPUs because most are sold out everywhere so you can get decent money for your 4GB as long as it still works right and the fans have good bearings. Then you can get a newer GPU or just buy an 8GB model off Craigslists and pay the difference.

Too risky, too expensive, not worth it, I can only revive a dead gpu that died due to overheating, changing the chip itself? Not everyone can do this, though it would 🤔 have been a huge game changer if one can easily upgrade memory from 4gb to 8gb, that will be so cool but it's not easy

Lol, only qualified personal can get this done, I'm not very good with soldering iron, many will kill their graphic card in the process unless the site allows people to send their gpu for the modding and send the gpu back? That will make lots of sense, people would just pay for the service

This is possible but you need to be qualified specialist to do it by yourself. In this way it may be profitable. in another way the - the cost will be more then buying 8GB GPU.

I think it will be valid to get 2 4gb rx 570/580 and make one 8gb. But for sure if I try to do this in my home, i will kill both cards.

you need different density chips to make 8gb model, 4 gigs have 128Mx32 density 8 gigs have 256Mx32 density

gddr5 chips are expensive. each 14$ cheapest. you need 8 for each gpu 14x8=112$. it is better sell and buy 8g cards. unless if you have 100gpus spare parts lying around then you could  do that.

I think a better method would be just to do maybe 1 or 2 of them GDDR5 chips and leave the rest. So instead of going from 4GB to 8GB you would just go to 4.5GB which should be adequate for the next 6-12 months or so.

The GDDR5 are expensive each so buying as little as possible would be more beneficial instead of replacing them all. And it would be less work because there is less chips to desolder and solder back on.

However it would be fun when you are selling these GPUs on Craiglist in a year or two and the buyer asks "Why does this GPU have 4.5GB of memory"?

For starters you will not use a soldering iron you will need a hot air reflow and desolder station. 
You can search smd desoldering paste and find videos and supply sellers. 
Not as easy as it appears but certainly doable.
