Hello after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010 is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?
Only in your dreams... Anyway, that's a ridiculous question. Selling anything worth $1.5 billion worth is going to take some effort. What a tragedy is to have 50000 BTC and not knowing what to do with them! Going back to the question, if that was my situation, I would start contacting all the major exchanges for some split OTC trades. Of course, that requires some effort, but with 50000 btc available, it should be worth it. Small dog, tall weeds.

Something about a newbie making a post like this makes me hard to believe it’s the accurate truth. If you are telling the honest truth then you re very lucky and should not sell them all at 1 time. Selling $1.75 billion worth of bitcoin at 1 time will raise some flags and this isn’t what you want to happen.

I'm not sure the opening post has 50,000 BTC. Because if it is true he bought Bitcoin in 2010, means he is an early investor who should know how to sell all the Bitcoin he has. But actually I don't care whether the opening post really has 50,000 BTC or not. In my opinion, if you really have 50,000 BTC you can't sell it at once, it attracts the attention of many parties. Especially if we want to sell it through exchanges, we definitely need to do KYC verification, and it could be that Bitcoin is frozen if it is considered suspicious.
Then the most difficult stage is when you will cash out to a bank account, the source of the funds will definitely be questioned and there are also tax calculations that must be paid. So sell the Bitcoin gradually every month, that way it looks more normal. After all, why sell all the Bitcoin you have, because the price of Bitcoin will continue to rise. So it would be better to sell the Bitcoin that is really needed, the rest can be HODL on hardware wallets.

if that's true you have 50k BTC selling it to a big exchange like binance, but just some of it not all at once and swap to a top altcoin so you don't miss the current bull market. there have been many suggestions from forum users my question which step do you choose?

I don't think this is even a real post. I mean if the poster wanted real tips from us then he should be discussing this with us on this thread. But two pages later, I am still not seeing that. So perhaps this is just a thought experiment meant to see what would be our reaction if somebody did asked for assistance. Surely the poster don't have plans to share this wealth to the community and possibly to those around him. We have been toiling our asses finding ways to trade, invest, get a little money, out of cryptocurrency. Escape from poverty and we have encountered numerous failures, cheated by so called friends, scammed sometime in our crypto lives, and here is some bloke telling us that he has a billion dollars worth of Bitcoins lying in some god forsaken old computer of his.

I can not imagine what the exchange will do if you really sell 50,000 bitcoin at once because they will think that many things about you. I think you can sell your bitcoin at a small amount because we need to play safe to protect our assets and not let other people know who we are. I do not recommend selling your bitcoin with a private individual unless you know that person because we talk about a lot of money behind bitcoin. But that will be up to you, and we can only suggest you play safely while we want to sell bitcoin.

Selling more than 50,000 Bitcoins at once is not a joke if you really have those coins on your wallet right now mate. Here in my country even selling 1-2 Bitcoins on our local exchange might result in freezing of accounts so maybe selling them directly to private individuals will do just be cautious on whoever you are transacting with, I highly recommend trusted people who are willing to buy your coins. I think selling them by fraction will help you get your money from your local exchanges without any problem.

of course you are the most fortunate to accept this fact. that the results of the year 2010 just found out and will only sell it. My question is that there are that many coins, why was there a very sharp increase in 2014 and 2017 why didn't you do it, is it because you just realized now !!! So during this time your coins are stored where and you yourself have never seen the news about bitcoin until this long time.
You better be careful if you really want to sell that much bitcoin and don't believe too much in direct sales, it's better to sell regularly on exchanges that you can see on CMC and CoinGecko, hopefully you will become a new billionaire.

...//...: I think you got confused! It happens sometimes, you confused satoshi with BTC. (!?) Although, why not, many years ago I knew a story in the two + two of a guy who said that he had won (inheritance) +/- $ 35,000,000 and that he wanted to start playing poker. His fortune and history was real. In your case it is very easy to find out, although I am not interested in doing it, there is no necessary reason, for now your conjecture does not hurt anyone. In that sense, it is worth telling you that there are several things to take into account, not only with your amount of bitcoin with any amount, and they are mainly legal, taxes, use of bitcoin, origin of those assets, etc. You must check the laws of your country, even taxes can reduce your money by up to 45% depending on the country, but also in others it is very low and in some other countries there is no serious control over the bitcoin asset.. So research the legal that can guide you in better ways to sell your "50,000" (!?)

Hello, those BTC that you say you have at the moment are more than 1,648,750,000 dlls, maybe you should sell them little by little so that the price of BTC does not collapse and sell them on various exchanges. And leave BTC in your wallet for the future. Another thing you can do is buy things directly with BTC, such as cars, houses, services, etc.

In the past few days or weeks that Bitcoin have attained its new ATH, surprisingly lots of people here in the forum are sharing their regain access on their Bitcoins that have been stocked for too many years and now they are unfolding their story of success on how they have been able to regain access on their supposed to be forgotten amount of Bitcoin that they have obtained on the first years of its release and when the price is pretty much affordable as if compared to the price it have right now. Congratulations to those individuals who have made it a point to still manage remembering their accounts and benefit themselves into the value that each Bitcoin possesses on this days. Also, it will not be a good move to sell your Bitcoin supposedly if it was true to be 50,000 Bitcoins in just one drop because lots of risks are associated on that. Better slow down selling bits by bits rather than putting it all together in just one drop.

See its possible but the transactions will take place step by step like twenty thousand (20,000) per bitcoin withdrawal at time the next will also take the same measures until all is out, because bring all the same time will cause blockage of account by suspecting the account as a scammers, even bank of such country will come for the person if such kind of transactions have not occur before in your account.

does it look outside? Obviously not, because without any evidence it just makes you laugh at

I cant believe, this is a huge amount of BTC and the current value is really too much high. If you really have this much bitcoin, I don't understand why you have to sell all of them at once. You will not be able to withdraw much money at once using any exchange, if you will try to do this, they will seize your account and freeze the account. You can talk to grayscale or microstrategy to see if they agree to deal with you.

Selling them all at once would result in a strong drop in price so when you want to get the most out of your coins, then this is not the best method. Would be awesome to see drop in price though . Probably you would want to send an exchange(s) a notification what you are about to bring upon them. You would probably cause a liquidity crises for some time when unloading that bag. But yeah, dreaming is great.

Oh whoa, congratulation, dude! I wouldn't recommend selling all bitcoins at once because then it'll lead to a drop in the price of bitcoin. It's better to sell in small parts. I think that the price of bitcoin will rise again soon, so selling coins in parts is a more logical solution.

I'm sure that selling such a huge amount at one time is not the best idea. You will probably get less profit than you could get if you would sell it by parts. There is a big chance that you will purchase a lot of offers with prices less than the current market price. But if you need to get a few hundred thousand $ then you can do it right now. If you really have 50 BTC you haven't sold yet then you are really lucky one

In the first place, does he really own 50k bitcoins here? How come he created a new account just to ask this? If he is a long time holder, I guess he should know by now the right answer to his question. I am curious about his true motives of the OP.
If the really meant what he said, it doesn't matter if his account is new just to seek advice from a reputable community like btt forum. But @OP, it is impossible to sell that off at once. The fees will be quite high that you can't imagine. Or at least sell a few and hold the rest for future use. There is a maximum limit with some crypto exchanges. Unless peer to peer transaction has been agreed upon by both parties with $50,000 bitcoin.
