Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

I don't recommend you to sell at once 50,000 BTC simply because if something goes wrong in the exchange they will either flag your account and it may take a while to get your funds back. Plus, if you do end up paying taxes in your country, you're in for a ride.

You can go follow two roads ( I believe ):

Road A - Slowly selling your BTC in an exchange of your choosing and enjoy your life as it goes. If you don't like exchanges that ask for personnal information (ID's and such) you can try P2P services (localcryptos/Hodl/bisq).

Road B - Exchange big amounts of money and hope that your bank doesn't flag you. This is a more risky move, but provided that you've got proof of purchase or you can explain how you got the BTC I suppose it would be OK in the end. Remember that no one knows what the future may bring and BTC can rise even higher in the future.

Either road that you end up choosing, I'm mostly positive that you can't sell such a high amount of BTC in one single day (or even if you could, it could take a while to transfer such a high amount of BTC to your bank). It would also be interesting to see how it would affect the market.

As always, if you own indeed a vast amount of BTC first step would be to take them to a cold storage and put them inside a nucler bunker in a remote area. Then you can calmly decide what to do next.

Only in your dreams... Anyway, that's a ridiculous question. Selling anything worth $1.5 billion worth is going to take some effort.

In the first place, does he really own 50k bitcoins here? How come he created a new account just to ask this? If he is a long time holder, I guess he should know by now the right answer to his question. I am curious about his true motives of the OP.

Even in a nuclear bunker I'm not 100 % certain that they would be safe ahah .

On a more serious note, OP never said exactly that he had indeed 50k BTC, we just assumed that he had considering his phrasing. If he indeed has such a high amount I believe that more answers will come to this thread that could point him to the right direction.

One thing is for certain @iwoswinvs be very cautious on what you do. Amounts greater than 1 are a big deal (hell even >0.5!) and if you indeed just "remembered" that you had a bunch of coins stashed away somewhere you probably were also unaware of the highly intricate and developed scams have become in the years since BTC was conceived.

Congratulations if that's for real. But if you just made an account to discuss it, I don't think that's possible if you plan to dump all of it at once.
You can dump that in several batches but I don't know how long it will take you to dump all of it. And if that's that you "remember" it, do you still have it?

The option one is perfect and i think there is no need to sell all this huge amount directly...the most important think is to stay safe and take all the securuty and it seems our friend did because his bitcoins still safe since 2010
Selling in parts is the best option the bank option still risky

Why would you need to sell this amount at once? You should sell it very slowly, and keep some of the bitcoins too.

Also, trade them for some of other cryptocurrencies, like Ethereum, Litecoin (This is very good for transactions), Cardano,... do your research.

Err no it's not possible. Let's not even mention exchanges probably stopping the transaction, heck, just the fact that banks would probably ask wheretf you got your money, which would lead to a lot of issues (especially if your country has no specialized rules for crypto income) which is going to be a pain. Slowly selling it is one option, but volatility is going to rekt you so you can sell it all at once BUT you gotta talk to exchanges/companies willing to. Might take a lot of time, especially again, you gotta have to talk to your bank about where you got that much money. Might even need a lawyer you can talk to just for the sake of that issue.

The post is really questionable and seems suspicious if you will look at it. This looks like someone who just claim that they have big worth or something.

But if you are serious, and you have 50k BTC in your arsenal, then congratulations, you're now a billionaire.

In regards to the question, I guess the best thing to do is:

1. if you have a business you want to establish, then sell a specific amount based on the business plan you will made

2. Convert some of your BTC to other coins, top coins, to be specific.

3. Plan your finances on monthly basis, and withdraw the amount you need. In that manner, you will just have to worry about payment for exchange in 1 drop per month.

4. Convert 5-10% of your btc to USD, open a stock account, then start investing to stocks.

5. Live whenever you want Cheesy

On Grayscale, what you buy or sell is shares, not truly bitcoin. You can read more at their FAQ: https://grayscale.co/faq/

I don't know their max cap for intraday sell per user. Others who are more knowledgeable can help you.

It is worth to note that if you are selling 50,000 BTC, you will get a huge huge fiat amount in pocket. Therefore, you need to file taxation document and pay your tax, if you don't want to go in jail.

It's not a good idea to sell that huge amount nowadays because there will be huge questions on the exchanges that you need to answer when you about to withdraw that high amount of money. If you want to sell it directly in person, that is too risky I wouldn't recommend you to do that. If I were you, I would just sell some fragment of that amount to enjoy this massive bull run we have.

surely the network will be busy and it will make transactions interrupted and delay occurs. it's better to sell per 1 bitcoin, if it's sold then sell it again and again. don't be 50,000 bitcoins for once. It's a big number after all, will it come true?  Cheesy

Yes, it is possible, but I don't recommend sending all of that amount at once because that can make the exchange suspicious and can block your account temporarily. I think you can sell for 1 bitcoin step by step, but don't sell it all because I think you want to sell bitcoin at the other high price, so it will help you make another profit in the future.

You can sell directly to a private individual, but you should know your buyer to prevent you from scamming, and you will not have a problem with your buyer. But as I say, it is better to sell your bitcoin at a small amount because selling only 3-10 bitcoin will give you a lot of money, even if you sell bitcoin at the current price.

If this is true then you must be one lucky beast for finding those bitcoins. Anyway, money laundering laws are in effect all over the world and having that lots of bitcoins would spell instant meddling from the powers that be who want to get at you or your wealth. Be very careful who you deal with and it might spell bad times to those who tread loosely with all this wealth. If you are the kind of businessman like person who started from little and then became rich because people see that you have a physical means of getting wealth then you will not be mistaken as some thug who stole money. Anyway, enjoy your riches.

If I were you, I would just sell some fragment of that amount to enjoy this massive bull run we have.
For how long those fragment will finish up 50k btc, it will take approximately a wide number of years to finish up 50k btc, in that case, it would be better to let your wife or children to have access to your private key or rather be ready to be in jail.
Selling such amount of Bitcoin is a very risky one which sometimes op may be accused of performing some fraud activities,.

11 years you mean because the year now is 2021  not 2022 . you remember that means you arent sure if you have those old btc but why you are asking if how you gonna sell them but why not confirm first that you still have those old coins  . 50,000 bitcoins was alot  , i know btc is cheap back time but those old bitcoiners that i heard on stories dont have that much but they can only have a hundred or a thousand at max but you could be different that them , you might be rich that buys btc or a miner but to answer your concern its better if you can sell partially to an exchange and not on the private individual , selling outside the exchange can be risky .

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

Only in your dreams... Anyway, that's a ridiculous question. Selling anything worth $1.5 billion worth is going to take some effort.
What a tragedy is to have 50000 BTC and not knowing what to do with them!  Grin

Going back to the question, if that was my situation, I would start contacting all the major exchanges for some split OTC trades. Of course, that requires some effort, but with 50000 btc available, it should be worth it.

Something about a newbie making a post like this makes me hard to believe it’s the accurate truth.
If you are telling the honest truth then you re very lucky and should not sell them all at 1 time.
Selling $1.75 billion worth of bitcoin at 1 time will raise some flags and this isn’t what you want to happen.

I'm not sure the opening post has 50,000 BTC. Because if it is true he bought Bitcoin in 2010, means he is an early investor who should know how
to sell all the Bitcoin he has. But actually I don't care whether the opening post really has 50,000 BTC or not. In my opinion, if you really have
50,000  BTC you can't sell it at once, it attracts the attention of many parties. Especially if we want to sell it through exchanges, we definitely need
to do KYC verification, and it could be that Bitcoin is frozen if it is considered suspicious.

Then the most difficult stage is when you will cash out to a bank account, the source of the funds will definitely be questioned and there are also
tax calculations that must be paid. So sell the Bitcoin gradually every month, that way it looks more normal. After all, why sell all the Bitcoin you
have, because the price of Bitcoin will continue to rise. So it would be better to sell the Bitcoin that is really needed, the rest can be HODL on
hardware wallets.

if that's true you have 50k BTC selling it to a big exchange like binance, but just some of it not all at once and swap to a top altcoin so you don't miss the current bull market.
there have been many suggestions from forum users my question which step do you choose?

I don't think this is even a real post. I mean if the poster wanted real tips from us then he should be discussing this with us on this thread. But two pages later, I am still not seeing that. So perhaps this is just a thought experiment meant to see what would be our reaction if somebody did asked for assistance. Surely the poster don't have plans to share this wealth to the community and possibly to those around him. We have been toiling our asses finding ways to trade, invest, get a little money, out of cryptocurrency. Escape from poverty and we have encountered numerous failures, cheated by so called friends, scammed sometime in our crypto lives, and here is some bloke telling us that he has a billion dollars worth of Bitcoins lying in some god forsaken old computer of his.

I can not imagine what the exchange will do if you really sell 50,000 bitcoin at once because they will think that many things about you. I think you can sell your bitcoin at a small amount because we need to play safe to protect our assets and not let other people know who we are. I do not recommend selling your bitcoin with a private individual unless you know that person because we talk about a lot of money behind bitcoin. But that will be up to you, and we can only suggest you play safely while we want to sell bitcoin.

Selling more than 50,000 Bitcoins at once is not a joke if you really have those coins on your wallet right now mate. Here in my country even selling 1-2 Bitcoins on our local exchange might result in freezing of accounts so maybe selling them directly to private individuals will do just be cautious on whoever you are transacting with, I highly recommend trusted people who are willing to buy your coins. I think selling them by fraction will help you get your money from your local exchanges without any problem.

BIG WINNER!

of course you are the most fortunate to accept this fact. that the results of the year 2010 just found out and will only sell it. My question is that there are that many coins, why was there a very sharp increase in 2014 and 2017 why didn't you do it, is it because you just realized now !!! So during this time your coins are stored where and you yourself have never seen the news about bitcoin until this long time.

You better be careful if you really want to sell that much bitcoin and don't believe too much in direct sales, it's better to sell regularly on exchanges that you can see on CMC and CoinGecko, hopefully you will become a new billionaire.

...//...:
I think you got confused! It happens sometimes, you confused satoshi with BTC. (!?)

Although, why not, many years ago I knew a story in the two + two of a guy who said that he had won (inheritance) +/- $ 35,000,000  and that he wanted to start playing poker. His fortune and history was real. In your case it is very easy to find out, although I am not interested in doing it, there is no necessary reason, for now your conjecture does not hurt anyone.

In that sense, it is worth telling you that there are several things to take into account, not only with your amount of bitcoin with any amount, and they are mainly legal, taxes, use of bitcoin, origin of those assets, etc. You must check the laws of your country, even taxes can reduce your money by up to 45% depending on the country, but also in others it is very low and in some other countries  there is no serious control over the bitcoin asset..

So research the legal that can guide you in better ways to sell your "50,000" (!?)

Hello, those BTC that you say you have at the moment are more than 1,648,750,000 dlls, maybe you should sell them little by little so that the price of BTC does not collapse and sell them on various exchanges. And leave BTC in your wallet for the future. Another thing you can do is buy things directly with BTC, such as cars, houses, services, etc.

In the past few days or weeks that Bitcoin have attained its new ATH,  surprisingly lots of people here in the forum are sharing their regain access on their Bitcoins that have been stocked for too many years and now they are unfolding their story of success on how they have been able to regain access on their supposed to be forgotten amount of Bitcoin that they have obtained on the first years of its release and when the price is pretty much affordable as if compared to the price it have right now. Congratulations to those individuals who have made it a point to still manage remembering their accounts and benefit themselves into the value that each Bitcoin possesses on this days. Also, it will not be a good move to sell your Bitcoin supposedly if it was true to be 50,000 Bitcoins in just one drop because lots of risks are associated on that. Better slow down selling bits by bits rather than putting it all together in just one drop.

See  its possible but the transactions will take place step by step like twenty thousand (20,000) per bitcoin withdrawal at time the next will also take the same measures until all is out, because bring all the same time will  cause blockage of account by suspecting the account as a scammers, even bank of such country will come for the person if such kind of transactions have not occur before in your account.

true or not I think it would be better if you show your portfolio. because if it's just bragging, I can say that I have 100,000 Satoshi.

does it look outside? Obviously not, because without any evidence it just makes you laugh at

I cant believe, this is a huge amount of BTC and the current value is really too much high.
If you really have this much bitcoin, I don't understand why you have to sell all of them at once. You will not be able to withdraw much money at once using any exchange, if you will try to do this, they will seize your account and freeze the account. You can talk to grayscale or microstrategy to see if they agree to deal with you.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?
I don't believe it but congratulate you if it's true. You will become a billionaire when you sell them all, every day you sell about 1000BTC is fine, after 50 days will be completed.

Selling them all at once would result in a strong drop in price so when you want to get the most out of your coins, then this is not the best method.
Would be awesome to see drop in price though Cool.
Probably you would want to send an exchange(s) a notification what you are about to bring upon them. You would probably cause a liquidity crises for some time Grin when unloading that bag.

But yeah, dreaming is great.

Oh whoa, congratulation, dude!  Shocked

I wouldn't recommend selling all bitcoins at once because then it'll lead to a drop in the price of bitcoin. It's better to sell in small parts. I think that the price of bitcoin will rise again soon, so selling coins in parts is a more logical solution.

I'm sure that selling such a huge amount at one time is not the best idea. You will probably get less profit than you could get if you would sell it by parts. There is a big chance that you will purchase a lot of offers with prices less than the current market price. But if you need to get a few hundred thousand $ then you can do it right now.
If you really have 50 BTC you haven't sold yet then you are really lucky one  Cool

In the first place, does he really own 50k bitcoins here? How come he created a new account just to ask this? If he is a long time holder, I guess he should know by now the right answer to his question. I am curious about his true motives of the OP.

If the really meant what he said, it doesn't matter if his account is new just to seek advice from a reputable community like btt forum.
But @OP, it is impossible to sell that off at once. The fees will be quite high that you can't imagine. Or at least sell a few and hold the rest for future use. There is a maximum limit with some crypto exchanges. Unless peer to peer transaction has been agreed upon by both parties with $50,000 bitcoin.

That is possible to do. But I think that can make the exchange suspicious with his account when he deposits all of that amount, and they will watch closely and pay attention to him. They will monitor his activity on that exchange, and if he is doing something suspicious or wants to withdraw all of his money, they will ask many things before they will allow the transaction.

Bullshit walks and money  talks
You aint talking !
$50,000 bitcoins would have cost more than $50,000, and anyone with $50,000 invested would never stopped watching the growth, or lack of it for a minute .
Well you got you 15 minutes of attention, now go back to sleep, and wake up to the fact that your a loser !

That's a lot of bitcoin saved from previous years. I suggest you not to sell it in one go but in succession for a certain amount of time if you don't mind the sudden changes in price and just purely needs the money instead. There is an opportunity for you to go on trading or investments so it is a good choice to use some of your bitcoins to engage on those businesses.

Only in your dreams... Anyway, that's a ridiculous question. Selling anything worth $1.5 billion worth is going to take some effort.
If that's true, you're going to draw the attention of the entire bitcoin enthusiast

I smell a troll, and maybe a spectacularly inept manipulation attempt to scare people into dumping Bitcoin.  If someone were to dump >50k BTC all at once, the market would feel it; it wouldn’t be a catastrophe, not nearly, but it could cause quite the bumpy ride for a bit.

I am surprised that by the third page of this thread, nobody called that!

Here, let me try my version:  I just remembered that I have a few billion dollars in cash sitting in the back of my closet, beneath my collection of vintage Monopoly gameboards.  It seems I forgot about it, because it looks so similar to the Monopoly money—I got confused.  Anyway, is it possible to dump it all at once for real money, i.e., Bitcoin?  Or should I use a bot to make tens of thousands of small, quiet exchange transactions—as MicroStrategy did, shearing the daytrader sheep bit by bit, so that they could make a huge move without driving up the Bitcoin price prematurely?

what are tour private keys ?
Just copy and paste them and us folks here will help you as much as we can.. We are trustworthy .

LOL.  I think that that is the right answer to this one.

Selling all of them together will definitely land you into trouble from either bank or other regulators. I would request you not to sell it at once and gradually exchange it everyday and that too in multiple reputed exchanges. Since you have posted it here you might receive various offers from scamsters pretending to buy your Bitcoin, please don't fall for trap either sell it through exchange or escrow.

Since Bitcoin went up dramatically to the price of $ 40,000, I have found a lot of newbies making almost the same thread, that is having a large
amount of Bitcoin. I don't know if this is really true or attention seeking, what is certain is that the rising price of Bitcoin has succeeded in making
some people become millionaires. I myself have not too much Bitcoin, feel a huge profit. Especially in the country where I live, enough to have
5 BTC with the current rate can secure the future. Moreover, having 50,000 BTC is like an opening post, I could faint if I really have that much Bitcoin.

Oh, because of this reply, Now I am thinking you have a genuine 50k BTC in your pocket right now. That's actually amazing tbh.

Because of that reply, I don't think that you are just bragging anymore, but just really asking for what you need to do in those coins of yours.

I hope, the replies in this thread really help you out.

LOL Tongue You expect 0.1 BTC in return for that person. isn't that too little bit.

Having 50,000 BTC is of course just gibberish without proof of address or transactions that have ever been carried out.
Bought in 2010 and didn't sell until now. Does not make sense. It takes evidence to explain it's not just gibberish.

That amount of 0.1 BTC that compared to 50,000 btc is a pittance, for me it would mean a lot and it would help me a lot because as a result of the pandemic I have been left with many debts.

And I want to assume that iwoswinvs is telling the truth.

There is always hope.

On the other hand, if he has that amount of btc, it only remains to recommend that he be careful because if bad people find out that he has it, they can do something to him.

i have no debts like you but 0.1btc is really a verry huge amount if converted to fiat on todays rate but it is only a dust to the giver .
nice signature you have by the way  , it looks that you prepared for this moment eh ? no one will found out that he has a tons of btc if he will transact online , transacting offline with that amount is dangerous .
the people that he wants to transact are not just ordinary people but how  possible for him to sell to those large comapnies ? it must be hard but selling on exchange is easy but only he cant sell all at once .

It would be better if you will not do it by just one transaction only, remember you are talking about 50,000 bitcoin and yet you want to make it an instant transaction by making a single transaction only. If you are talking for the past 12 years and you have been sold 50,000 bitcoin then maybe you've been cause a huge price drop on that year because a huge number of bitcoin has been sold. Anyways, I hope my advise can be consider next time by those people who will have a huge amount bitcoins someday.

it can be risky to hold them in a wallet but be carefull when you are transferring to them to other wallets. remember the guy who sent 8999 btc to a wrong adress.

if it is hard to sell 50.000 coins you can donate me some of them Smiley 1LzJmD1dJwRwLtQMSNzRMiJqEZxR5KC8Wg

That's quite a lot. Are you holding it in a non-online wallet, because probably online wallets will lock your account unless you prove your identity and your income.
Not sure how you go from there, but you should probably start sending your fund to a safe wallet assuming you're holding it in a online wallet.

That amount of 0.1 BTC that compared to 50,000 btc is a pittance, for me it would mean a lot and it would help me a lot because as a result of the pandemic I have been left with many debts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5306106.msg56001526#msg56001526

And I want to assume that iwoswinvs is telling the truth.

There is always hope.
that hope will remain while trying and without expecting pity on others. come on dude, it's not just you who are suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic, there are still thousands of families out there who are worse than you.

iwoseinvs is only a beginner account that creates a thread about boasting because it is without proof of address and transaction.

Talking about personal matters about family problems in this forum and hoping that someone gives 0.1 BTC is very unethical and seems to ask for mercy to others, it will make you look weak and without feeling optimistic to get up.

Hopefully, you and your family are always doing well.

I think it's amazing whether in 2010 you just bought it and then forgot about it or vice versa, and I don't believe you are just talking like that because there is no further evidence. And if it is true that you hold bitcoin 50,000 I think it will affect the current price of bitcoin.

i have no debts like you but 0.1btc is really a verry huge amount if converted to fiat on todays rate but it is only a dust to the giver .
nice signature you have by the way  , it looks that you prepared for this moment eh ? no one will found out that he has a tons of btc if he will transact online , transacting offline with that amount is dangerous .
the people that he wants to transact are not just ordinary people but how  possible for him to sell to those large comapnies ? it must be hard but selling on exchange is easy but only he cant sell all at once .

Following that argument, there's no safe place for him as the amount of his assets is really huge enough to attract interest from all different kind of people, (hackers, scammers and all illegal doers and a like.)

Transacting offline with that huge amount of money, better to set up the deal inside the bank and have someone who you really trust to guard you though there's always bad case scenarios that may happened along the deal, better to sell it out separately deal with the
transaction fees just don't let your guard down as you able to keep the huge amount for 12 years just keep doing your security thing or better to enhance more.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

I'm truly speechless, it is an immense sum sincere compliments.
Take all possible precautions because the crypto world is full of scammers and malicious people, I would probably sell very few at a time (1-2) to avoid unpleasant situations, keep calm and enjoy your btc, lucky you  Wink

When you waited such a long time why you want to sell all at once. If you really have more than 50,000 bitcoin that's great. If I were you I won't sell all I will sell according to my needs otherwise I will continue to hold because selling such a huge amount is quite challenging.

Selling it all at once is like buying a pizza for 10,000 Bitcoin, you just lose your profits that you could make in the long run. Don't sell it all because the price went $42,000, don't be a FOMO, just sell the right amount you need to survive, save the many for the future, trust me, it's much better to sell Bitcoin in every time it'll make an ATH. For example, once it hits $42,000 again then sell 1 Bitcoin, buy in the dip. Sell again when it hits $60,000 or even higher, buy again in the dip.

And that's how you do the trick. Selling all of your Bitcoin could attract negative things like thieves or someone could kill you for your money.

if you sell a large amount of 50,000 bitcoins to people it will be at risk. My advice is that you sell to the exchange and you can see the appropriate price. for how much is sold I think it's your choice and it's definitely profitable for you personally

I doubt you would be able to sell 50,000 bitcoins at once! That would be insane for a "normal" user to do this. You will probably trigger a security alarm and your account might get flagged and locked. If you want to use an exchange, maybe contact a reliable exchange first. Let them know how many coins you are going to convert. Give them all the details and ask for suggestions. I am sure they will let you know what sort of documents and other things you might need to prove your ownership and to see if the coins have originated from a legit source with all taxes paid. Again, they probably won't be able to convert all of your 50,000 bitcoins. You might have to contact different exchanges.

He sells it all is reasonable, 2 billion dollars can enjoy everything in life. End of 2017 is a good time to sell, 50k bitcoin he can still patiently wait for the price to go higher, it's really unbelievable. I think it's not too challenging, it's good not to sell too much in a short time.

I'm not going to believe you without proof.

Back then there were only a few thousand bitcoin users (I wasn't one of them either).

I might be more inclined to believe that someone mined 50,000 bitcoins back then.

If you're actually telling the truth. I would be looking to buy real estate directly using bitcoin. There's also no way that you could sell 50,000 BTC at once without dropping the price massively on the exchange that you're using and losing a ton of value or even having your money seized by the government or stolen/frozen in the exchange.

The only good way to sell mass amounts of bitcoin is slowly and carefully. It's going to take you days of planning and weeks of execution to sell even a few thousand bitcoin effectively.

If you're serious about this OTC transactions are going to be the best way. This way the market price won't slip down and you won't pay any fees.

Syscoin has the best of Bitcoin and Ethereum in one place, it's merge mined with Bitcoin so it is plugged into Bitcoin's ecosystem and takes full advantage of it's POW while rewarding Bitcoin miners with Syscoin

Sell a few, don't sell all of them at once. It all depends but I think exchanging 0.5-2 btc at once should be risk free. Try different exchanges. Maybe invest in different assets, diversify. Buy some stock, why not. Just don't try exchange all at once if you don't want pain in the butt.

Well, it is still unbelievable to me. I don't hear that there is a single wallet held 50k of bitcoin alone, -- but then if this is true, it will surely have an impact on the bitcoin price that will also move or down the price, it will totally shake the price. You can do whatever you want in your bitcoin, but I think an exchange will ask you a heavy regulation like a full KYC Verification. I suggest you sell little by little not just at once if you want to take a profit, that is huge money and you can retire early if you have a job. Indeed, congrats!

If its true then congrats you're a rich man right now.
If its false then nice try Smiley.

Whatever it is, selling that huge amounts of Bitcoins at this moment will be very hard knowing that some of the popular exchanges right now have KYC. Selling little by little would be better but that may affect your profit since Bitcoin can drop significantly in a matter of days. Either way as long as you can sell your Bitcoins right now then you're still in profit. You might want to hold some if what you are saying is true.

Not as long as you.  But I also made the same mistake.  I sold my bitcoins in 2019. More than a bad year in my life.  I worried and rethinked about how unsuccessful my job was.  The world's conditions over the past year drove the price of bitcoin to cross all gaps.  $ 50k will come soon on Chinese New Year.

You are very fortunate and enjoying the big profits of the Bitcoins you've bought last 2010. CEXs are imposing limits on how much BTCs that you can withdraw in a single day. But the banks are the ones that you need to worry because if you are receiving a huge amount like that from your BTC, your funds might get freezed. If you don't want to suffer significant losses  later on, I suggest that you convert them to USDT or USDC first. Then slowly but surely, withdraw within your limits from each CEX such as Binance, OKEx, KuCoin, Huobi, etc.

Your such a great holder of bitcoins, investing since  you bought in 2010 in such a low valued price. Im just imagining if you sell it now it would be so much money but be careful when selling it, maybe you should sell it 1 by 1 or convert it to other alternative coins so that tou can cash out all of those 50000btc.

Only in your dreams... Anyway, that's a ridiculous question. Selling anything worth $1.5 billion worth is going to take some effort.

Yeah it’s so surprising that the guy is making easy statements regarding bitcoin worth billions. He would be listed into top 100 richest people immediately if he does sell that much bitcoin in one go. He would break all the record to gain huge asset on individual basis in single moment !!

But wait, that’s not gonna happen because there are not many exchanges who would spend that much liquidity at once considering there are also numerous buy and sell orders already in progress.

Anyway, I am more interested in seeing screenshot of how 50,000 bitcoin look like in wallet.  Tongue

It is impossible to see that kind of coins from the OP's wallet simply because, he was in a cave all this while and if he really had control over his coins he would have already moved the coins a long time back, you will see many claims like this and only now he remembered about his stash of coins is like he just woke up from a comma and now identified his wealth and becoming an overnight billionaire  Cheesy.

Wow! that is a hella big amount right there and you bought it in 2010 you surely did earn a lot of profit, I can't imagine. Anyway, I don't think it is a good idea to sell it in one go because there will be a lot of problems like I don't know if an exchange will allow you to pull off that huge amount of money. If they allow, I am pretty sure that it will take a lot of processes. You could exchange it for P2P but that would be risky. Perhaps the best option is to sell it in a fragmented way. Just take it slowly, it won't going anywhere as long as you secured it.

BIG WINNER!

If you are really saying the truth then congrats to you because you will now be rich from that but I don't think that you are telling the truth, I don't know your purpose of creating a new account just to create this kind of story but for sure you just want bitcoin to get dumped so you are doing this thing but anyway if that's true then for sure you have got the good answers for what you have going to do for it.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?
Wow, that's a nice amount to have at this time!!!

I'm sure you area aware that this is a large number of BTC and if you was to sell it all at once you could send the entire  market into a plunge, and worse, end up having your order executed at lower than the original price.

This is why it is best to sell in batches. This way you know your order will get filled without any further complications. Good luck!

Very lucky, of course, if it is true and clearly real, I agree with you that if you sell everything in large quantities it will clearly affect the market which could happen. but hopefully that doesn't happen and just in the shadows there may be other alternatives.

I am also amazed but confused by the OP can have a lot in 2010, but he did not hear the big news that we know that in 2017 there was an increase too. does the OP also not know? why only now knowing, for me this is more than amazed than receiving information he has a large number of bitcoin !!!

be happy with these fantastic bitcoins.

Why just remember, why don’t you use it for the pleasure of your life and start a business in the real world. If you have that much BTC
you are already quite successful in the world of cryptocurrency investment.
Holding bitcoin for 12 years is a very long time.

You will have a better chance to find him on social media than in this forum, as you said meeting him on a paradise island, such people tend to have a lifestyle that is usually shared on social media like twitter, instagram, facebook, etc.
I'm wondering, have you decided how to sell 50000 bitcoins? is it all at once or partially in stages?

If serious, you might want to use escrow. 1% fee or maybe even less. I'll accept 1/5th of 1%. I suggest to DCA (dollar cost average) out over the course of several months.

That is a huge amount of coins that may make it really hard for you to cash them out all at once. If this is true of course. Exchanges are not expecting this huge of an amount to be withdrawn as most of them can get all their liquidities dried (no pun intended). Which leads to issues comprising of suspected hacking or fraud which your account may get flagged for. So it's much better to cash them out little by little

Well, if you really bought bitcoin at that time, that is really good news for you to know that the value of bitcoin as of now is really high, hitting a new all-time high and even doubled since 2017. Imagine buying a bitcoin at such a low price, you are already a millionaire right now.  That is really good but the fees are high, but knowing that you are holding a lot of bitcoin, that is still good. I am also wishing that I bought bitcoin at that time but I knew bitcoin in 2017, and the price is already high.

most exchanges cant handle that worth of token, even the binance and Kraken, so it is advisable to sell through OTC, where they find an average price and sell in bits to manage the market. Such huge amount can dump the market for a long while. Even for grayscale acquiring that size they are not selling soon and they understand it, even at the bull market if they need to sell it will only be a few from high price to attain the amount of fund they want.

Knowing all the potentials and having this huge amount of assets, grayscale are knowledgable enough to understand how big might be the impact of taking this and selling it in one instance.

There's a difficulty selling this huge amount of assets, lots of questions might be raised once this certain amount be transferred to exchange wallet or in the other side, a risk that hackers will chase this wallet once they've noticed this huge amount of coins being move, knowing the abilities of those illegal doers, chances being taking away from your possession is really a high risk.

Probably he is just joking.
I'd never think that someone, a single person holds that amount of Bitcoin is a single wallet address. That's wort huge if converted to fiat money and probably it got attention to the cybercrime group if that he caught and might be in question.

@OP, better not to engage in any parties. Make sell into different exchanges, spread it in small chunks if you wanted not to be suspected of any malicious activities (I hope you are not doing this). Make it now or you make yourself vulnerable to hackers.

Hey buddy, tell me I'm wrong.
I picture a 30 year old guy over weight living in his mothers basement , never had a job. Waiting for his mother to come home from work with a pizza for you .
There you'll sit dreaming with pizza dripping down your chin ,savoring all the attention your getting on this forum.
What others are you on?  Are you an anonymous winning race car driver too.
Don't fall asleep with that pizza still in your mouth .your Mom can't afford the funeral cost after supporting a loser like you .

Wtf! Shocked Shocked That’s over a billion dollars if you’ really mean this!!! Cool You shouldn’t sell that amount of money at once, and I wouldn’t even advise you to sell it by using a centralized exchanges, if I was the one I will make use of P2P exchanges, there are lot of them where I live and they offer good services.

If you try selling it at once, and move it all to a centralized exchange, you might encounter a problem with them as they may try to verify the source or something, and then if you send the huge amount of money to your bank at once you will have a serious question to answer, and it gets worse if you can’t prove it. Selling it bit by bit and using P2P would be best, don’t be in a hurry.

50,000 bitcoins? And you bought the bitcoin in 2010? Are you serious? I don't know why but I am not sure if it is a true story. If you bought the Bitcoin in 2010, you must sell it in 2017 once the Bitcoin price increase significantly. At least, you must sell some of your Bitcoins. I think you won't hold all your Bitcoins for more than 10 years. Also, it means you are an experienced investor, you won't ask people for suggestions like this way. Please don't tell a fake story!!!

Well, if you really mean it and own such amount of Bitcoin then, great! Just be careful what exchange you send it to do you don't get your account flagged for whatever reason. Just like the bank could flag you I'd they notice a very large sum of money sent into your account.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

You still own 50,000 BTCs?
It would be better if you could sign a message from the address so that we can believe that you are not fooling us around lmao.
It would be great to see someone just made the wisest decision 11 years back.
Coming to the part of selling it, then if you sell 5 Bitcoins a day, it will take you 3 years to sell those and to not come under the government’s supervision.
You can also invest some capital at some business (Gambling site) can be perfect.
Hope to see some updates from you.

If I have more than 50,000 BTC Bitcoin from 2010, I will not sell them all at once. Because the Bitcoin price can still go up even higher, so it's
a bad idea if the opening post is planning to sell out all at once. My advice is only to sell it, it's really needed, just keep  the rest in a hardware
wallet. Imagine if it turns out that Bitcoin this year can actually reach the price of $ 100,000. You will regret selling all the Bitcoin you have.
Because if you keep HODL some of the Bitcoin you have, I'm sure the benefits you get can be much greater.

To answer your question directly, yes, yes you can actually sell them all, but that would be the worst decision there is, we all know that BTC is yet to hit it's new ATH in the next bull run, and if you do sell them all, it would be a big waste, and selling $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin is actually unnecessary, call it an overkill.

Quite interesting in knowing what did you ended up choosing to do OP. It's nothing of my concern but I would really like to know how you structured your investment (what you plan to sell, what you plan to keep, if you're considering donating to a charity, etc etc).

You are great indeed, for you to hold onto such amount of Bitcoin till date show much about your resiliency in terms of Bitcoin price fluctuations. Having such amount of Bitcoin and want to sell them shouldn't require sending to centralized exchange but decentralized exchange, just for safety purposes. Also, ensure not to send whole stash of coins into exchange because of unnecessary flagging of accounts.

In the end it is up to you to decide. If it were me, I would sell a small portion, and the others would wait for the price to continue to rise.

You'd better trade him separately, this is not a small amount. If you trade too many bitcoins at a time, it is likely to be a danger to yourself, it is better to choose to sell a small portion of it for your daily life.

Wow. So many bitcoins. Do you accept my 10 pizzas as a swap?

I wonder if that's true. If there are still people that own a monstrous amount of bitcoins that were bought/mined back in 2009/10. I want to discuss this, so I created a topic: /index.php?topic=5312836

LOL Tongue You expect 0.1 BTC in return for that person. isn't that too little bit.
It's nothing compared to 50,000 bitcoins. It's like taking you 1 dollar out of 500,000. You won't understand any difference.

Hey mate congrats if you really discovered that you own such large amount of Bitcoins with you when the prices are surging above $30k at this time but if you want to sell your Bitcoins you need to be very careful and follow some steps for processing such transactions.

"Financial restrictions"
There are some financial restrictions over the exchanges or say limits set up against your account and you can withdraw only upto that much amount so you need to sell your coins on patch basis meaning selling in portions which will in turn not lead to price dump situation in the market because you are saying about 50000 Bitcoins which are more than $1 billion and it can lead to panic in the market with single transaction.

1) Sell over any Exchange:You can sell over any legit exchange as you know if you are not new to the market but be sure they don't freeze your account on temporary or permanent basis as you can loose access to your wallet

2)P2P: You can sell directly to anyone in your reference and who is willing to buy that much of coins from you.It benefit are you can trust that person and moreover you can avoid government regulations and taxes and security breaches over the internet

3) OTC Excganges: You can directly contact with the buyers here without any third-party party intervention and sell to them directly but it's difficult to find buyers of such large amount of coins.

Here is list of some of exchanges and their rates on which you can sell large amounts of your btc
Sell your coins

Its really wonderful feeling when you discover you became rich at very unexpected moments best of luck to you OP.

I suggest you sell a small portion of Bitcoin first. The future price is difficult to predict. If the future price continues to rise, you can still make more profits.

This is a bait and we are talking all about it, the only time that I will believe this OP is when s/he provides a screenshot and the address of the wallet containing the "50,000" bitcoin. OP also needs to share his/her story because no one will believe if you just say that you got 50,000 bitcoin.

I do not recommend that you sell all of it. It is difficult for you to predict its price now. If the price rises in the future, you will regret it.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

I do NOT believe you have 50,000 Bitcoins that you " just remembered "   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy   Never in the history has anyone forgot that they had a bank account with 1.5 BILLION dollars in it.

I will not believe this for one second unless you show everyone your wallet !

damn that's a lot of Funds , 50,000 Bitcoin ? So you're one of the early adopter  and one of the person that becomes Billionaire .
50,000 bitcoin is a lot of coins and anyone holding that kind of coins should be a miner or someone that purchased the coins when the valuation was minimum but the question here is that whether he is really having that kind of coins and whether he was sleeping when the price of bitcoin touched its all time valuation last time, it was a global news and anyone invested would remember them.

@OP there are legit OTC traders available if you are holding huge number of coins. You can contact Kraken and they will help you in finding good buyers.

You should sell your bitcoin slowly because it will be very suspicious if you will sell your Bitcoin all at once, also you should leave some bitcoins for investment in times of crisis you will have an investment to have.

Well, Congratulations if it's true your a billionaire now but we doubt that Grin.

It is possible to sell that amount of bitcoin there was really no limit as long as there were volume in the market you could sell it off, the problem was your cant sell it all at once since its a high volume your gonna need to finds a high volume market for that but if there is one you could easily sell it off. We rarely see orders in over 1-4 bitcoins, most of them are lower than 1 bitcoin. Also, you might experience some issues especially in cashing out because some might have limits in it. It's better to sell it in percentage it's already a huge amount of money but bitcoin is still a good investment so through the years you could probably sell 5 BTC and then 10 in the coming years.

congratulations you are now a rich man, but my advice is that you better not sell all your Bitcoin at the same time and sell them slowly, because the price will immediately go down (unstable) and you do not get maximum profit, but I think you'd better HOLD 50% of your Bitcoin for a long term investment, because the price of Bitcoin can still increase very high and give you a bigger profit, then I think it's enough for you to enjoy your life by only selling 50% of your Bitcoin Grin.

If this is true, then you're in a lot of money. 50 thousand bitcoins isn't something small and it can ultimately change your life forever.
I think it is advisable you sell your coins bits by bits so you don't end up getting flagged by the exchange. Using P2P services isn't advisable either. $1.7billion isn't the size of P2P.
Secondly, it's better to sell just half of it and not more. Keep the rest as a form of investment. You should know that the price of bitcoin will still rise and that will give you even more profits. Trust me, it's a decision you won't regret.

I posted on here shortly after the loser posted his claim to fame( in his mind) that he struck it rich.
I recall several times newbies on here being told to go to the beginners forum .

Then I noticed so much talk about mining BTC, and very advanced discussions of how the block chain worked , and I noticed a lot of people on here seem very educated .

Me , I'm just a street wise old ex con. that got as far as the 8th grade .( In juvenile jail ) .

So I see obvious B.S. , some attention getter ,getting so many of you intelligent people's advise .

My first post ,after seeing his claim ,was for him to post his private key on here and we would help him out . I meant it as an insult . I think it was one of my posts that got deleted .   You guys wake .up .

This is ( in my opinion) some loser living n his mother's basement , never had a job. 30 years old . No friends , playing video games his mother buys for him. And out of sheer bordome googled bitcoin, after seeing it rise on the news . and then joined up ,and you people treat him like a hero ..  Wow , I quit my criminal career in late 70's . But If I was still interested in ripping people off , it's you educated folks on here whoe's money I'd be counting today .

decodx,

The nature of your posts confirm every day that you are full of hate and just a miserable person.   I can not imagine what it must be like to go through life like that but it must be hell.   You can get help, it will take time and a lot of EFFORT, but it would be worth it.

Dude if actually your claim is true, then you should know that it's a lot of money that is involved here and selling all one wouldn't be what you'll want to do

So I advice you see little if possible 20btc and it'll be much nicer if you also donated to the charity and orphanage or you can as well help out with people with problem

Just my say though Smiley

Reading through the first 3 pages was pretty baffling, I was fully expecting this to be 8 pages of people mocking the OP but was disappointed to find that it was a thread of people advising this joker what to do with his 50,000 Bitcoins that he's clearly just pulled out of his ass. After 3 pages I decided to skip to the last page to see if any sanity had been restored.

Well played guys.

Do you seriously have that much bitcoin? And never sell it, even though in 2017 bitcoin is at its highest ATH,
and you just remember it now. Actually, this is very impossible, because it is possible that an investor will sell
their bitcoin holdings if it has profited a lot. It would have been a billionaire if it had sold it at the highest price this time.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I smell BS on this story, 50k bitcoin and this is the first time that OP has thought about it all this year. 50k bitcoin around the July of 2010 or so costs 4k USD which is a lot of money and the OP does not provide any proof that he/she can afford it back then, he/she just jumps straight to the question without a background information. If it ever this was real, I would think that it is better to sell about 10k worth of bitcoin so he/she can have a good retirement.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

Wow, that is surely such a great gain for you and you really did profit a lot if we compare the prices before. The decision is now whether to turn it into cash or use it as another investment to create more money. 50K btc's is a lot and it will surely be enough to have a happy life before you die. One thing you can do is distribute it to your family if possible or give them capital's so that they can earn their own money within the Cryptocurrency Industry which really is possible since you did it yourself..

decodx,

The nature of your posts confirm every day that you are full of hate and just a miserable person.   I can not imagine what it must be like to go through life like that but it must be hell.   You can get help, it will take time and a lot of EFFORT, but it would be worth it.

What a DUMB and IGNORANT statement. reference

The fact that you REJECT REALITY in order to fit what you WANT to believe tells me you are just stupid... reference

BUT, I have a special dislike for STUPID, I call it out whenever I see it   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy reference

I wish I had bought BitCoin at 1 cent when I first learned about it    Cry Cry Cry Cry    But that ship has sailed, and will never be back.  You need to in early on a Ponzi Scheme to profit greatly from it.    I will NOT, NOT, NOT be buying bitcoin for long term at any price, I think its value is going down to near zero in the long term.  If you win, I will be man enough to tell you that you are right and apologize to everyone... reference

There is no one who will know and believe that bitcoin can do that even satoshi itself. Because I only the first intention Satoshi made bitcoin was for an alternative to pay something beside money fiat. But, do you see now? How many people or even merchant who accept bitcoin as a payement system? I guess it is a few. Most of bitcoin's user now are only use bitcoin as mean of investment. More than that with the fee issue who made mant people reluctant to use bitcoin as payment system. This is why, there will be many people who will be regret to sell bitcoin at the low price. It would be different if you have known that bitcoin will be like now, I'm sure you will still as much as you can.

Loser, If you had so much as a 50 cent US coin in your pocket ,your pants would be falling down .

go to school ,stop tell your Mom your sick . in the 4th grade you will learn to add , and subtract . As in 2020 minus 12 equals 2008 ,not 2010.

Well I ggtta admit even as dim whited as you are ,you out smarted everyone giving advise on here .

Would anyone really take advise from any of these people who posted advise to this dummy ?

I suggest not to sell bitcoin. In recent years, the price of bitcoin has been rising. You should keep it in your wallet until the price is the highest.

OMG! Congrats!!!

Agree with RickDecard: Nuclear bunker + Sell max 10 per day

Of course, provided that the OP claims are true then you have one hell of wealth to use. I do agree to do it slowly but surely, as to avoid scrutiny from big corps. You can do once a week withdrawals only so to avoid any suspicion. Make sure you can hire an attorney so they can guide you how to legally show proof that you own the said coins in an event there would be investigations. Hopefully you have proper documentation of ownership of your computers and gadgets to erase suspicion. Anyway good luck.

its not advisable to sell off all your bitcoins at once, and also selling all will take a huge effort depending on your country laws about crypto transactions. alternatively, it will be better to sell it little by little and also hold some

Selling that much bitcoins all at once gets you flagged for either fraudulent or suspicious withdrawal, the exchanges we have do not expect that amount of withdrawal, all at once, even if you were a pioneer and someone who held bitcoins for a very long time. If ever, do it slowly, at least 10 btcs per week so no one notices it.

That's quite some large amount of bitcoin right there, if you sell that huge amount of bitcoin at a time it  will really affect the current price of bitcoin, mere moving from one wallet to the other will raise some eye brows in the crypto market Roll Eyes, if you actually have such amount and want to sell I won't recommend any centralized exchange, cause they will ask you to provide KYC to be able to withdraw, so if you want to withdraw under the radar, I would advice you withdraw/exchange it for fiat piece by piece, you can't sell all at once.

Withdrawing 10 btc ($ 378,000) per week has to be noticed by someone.
I don't really know how OP can make you on the tax issue.

quote..

No, That's not when you were introduced to Bitcoin . You better check your very first post that you made in Jan. 2020..

You stated that you bought them 12 years ago remember ?
yeah, that was back in 2008.

But not to worry ,the geniuses answering you with their brilliant advise haven't picked up on your error ,probably never will .

BTW does your mother know your playing on her computer again ?
Your probably going to be grounded again. Bad boy !

This is so huge selling bitcoin at once may have an impact on bitcoin price. I'm surprise if you really forgot you had bitcoin from 2010. If this is true will then a victory on you, seeing the current market price increase and you have this bag of bitcoin in your wallet is incredible. As others have been saying here selling weekly is also a good decision, anyway, it is still your decision to follow.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

That was too many bitcoin for you to forget, you're already a billionaire. congratulation to you if it is true. Maybe selling it as a whole today is not a great strategy because 50k bitcoins is a high volume in the market and could affect the market bringing the price down and the fees it would take is so high also. Maybe you could sell a low volume of it in the market maybe weekly and you could experience some problems withdrawing that kind of money in just one wallet or maybe an exchanger that you use. Your so lucky but I don't think you really have 50k bitcoins.

Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

I think you're just making this post to be notice here because at first you have a wrong calculation in the years since you bought bitcoin. It's only 10 years and not 12 years. Also if you really have that amount of bitcoin I think you should keep it by yourself and learns also by yourself on how to sell that.

There is always been a miscalculated about the years bitcoin first all time high. I think bitcoin have been created early as 2010 and we don't actually lnow that or aware because it is very simple and the valie ain't gonna ring a bell for us. But I think the idea of the question is that what if he sell bitcoin today from what he have from 2010. He may be having some hard time thinking that it would be a blast as of it now. Bitcoin may be in its new all time high today or making it to a new record, who knows. The fact that bitcoin is become nothing to something is on3 of the most regretful decision people made from their 2010 or starting self.
