I've told nobody close to me that I hold bitcoin, just as I don't talk much to them about other investments anyway.

I'd rather not have their reactions and opinions rattling around in my head.

My advice is just to keep quiet and modest about it, and after all, it's only money, not some great personal achievement.

Why didn't they tell you to sell bitcoin when it was at ATH? We all know that when we invest in something, we should buy low and sell high, yet most people do just the opposite: they rush to buy when something is going up fast and sell when it is going down the drain.

It's easy to say something in theory but not in practice.

I'm glad to know that you have been able to buy and hold Bitcoin at a very deep level, you will never get such an opportunity again.  Wink
If you buy at 10k price range then you have already got huge amount of profit. That's why your family members are asking you to leave with a profit.
I think, They are not really aware of the past and future of Bitcoin, if they were aware I believe they would not persuade you to sell bitcoin.
You should inform your family members about the future of Bitcoin and its vast adoption.

I believe that the time will soon come when we will do all the daily transactions through Bitcoin and the government will start using Bitcoin too.

I just keep within myself that I am holding bitcoin and ethereum. No one knows from my family that I invest. They dont even care rather because they are not aware of cryptocurrency.
When making a decision when to buy or sell, I make sure that I am really decided so whatever the price may be, there should have no regrets. As long as I buy low and sell higher, the profit I gain is really a big help for me.

I share your determination to stick to your Bitcoin no matter what happens. I also have a certain amount of Bitcoin which I intend to keep in my hardware wallet until God knows when, perhaps until such time when Bitcoin becomes the main global currency. As to its price, I don't know, it might already be $300,000 by that time.

I have tried and failed most of the time in trading. While I am still attracted and in fact do some buying and selling every once in a blue moon, I am now satisfied with just hodling and stacking up Sats.

Perhaps, $41k is the reasonable price for them to suggest you sell your bitcoin, so they advise you to sell at that time, and you can buy back if the price is down (which we always see it will always happen). But you did a great buying bitcoin at $10k, and now, you are only waiting for the time of bitcoin price to reach $100k and sell it on that price.

Yes, I believe the bitcoin price will be at $100k and more, but we don't have the right estimation when the price increases. We can only wait and hold the bitcoin, and we can buy back more bitcoin to add more amount to our wallet.

Trust your own decision because other people have own perception about the bitcoin possible value, we know family is needed when we need advice but sometimes we need to stand to ourselves. You need to trust your own guts because in the end you will be the one who lose or gain money from the bitcoin. But if they give advice to you accept it but you will be decide what you do in your bitcoin..

We had, somehow, the same experience. I mean, when my mother knew that I'm into bitcoin and earning with it, she asked me one time how much I've earned already. Of course, I told her the amount. Then some time later, she suggested that should get it already. She meant was, convert it to cash. I just smiled and I still continued to hodl.

The point here is that, we're the one managing our coins so what we do with it is up to us. Well, there will be opinions around us. And it's not bad to listen to them as well, take them into consideration. But the final decision should be based on what we think and what we feel would be best for us and not solely affected by what others say.

I made the baddest decision with Bitcoin in June of last year when I was persuaded to convert my  BTC to BTCV which turned out to be a very unfortunate thing for me because months after that the project got accused of operating a ponzi schemes with its mining plans. I still have not forgiven myself with such a big blunder up to now. Even with some years of experience in cryptocurrency, I became so naive and stupid!

That's ok if they tell you to do so. I would give them some benefit from holding it and would share a small amount if ever they're asking me. They're my family and I'd be glad to share some profits that I've got.

But in my position, no one is asking me from my profits and they're just letting me mind my own business. They're supportive as ever and just keeping quiet and allowing me do whatever I want to do.

$100k at the end of this year? rooting for that too.

Absolutely correct! I only trust my own instincts. My parents didn’t know any much about cryptocurrencies and other cryptocurrencies except telling me to hold it long-term. If I decided to buy, sell and hold, it’s my own instincts and not from others.

Myself too experienced similar situation during the previous bull market. It was my mother, who insisted me continuously to sell once the price reached $20k. I just said her bitcoin has been growing high and high. She didn't know anything about bitcoin or about its market. I said, you don't know anything about bitcoinand its market. It'll grow high than this price. Everything went away from my calculation, and I was in a situation to sell at a much lower price. That was bad, and even now my mom used to mention those old days stating you should respect the words of mom Roll Eyes

good for you. but sometimes it is fine to be cautious just like what your family did. it is always better to have profit than unnecessary loss due to a belief. but you do you and don't let anyone tell you otherwise as long as you are comfortable with what you are doing and the risk you are taking.

I support your idea because I also experience the same thing,
The funny part there is they wouldn't support you on the start and only acknowledge you when things starts to be great.
I have some relatives who laughs behind my back when Bitcoin wasn't doing great and the price was so low but I didn't quit and continue on it but now they are giving out opinion about crypto and how I should earn from it.

Thats a very common reaction when the value of Bitcoin [or other alts]
start to dip, Sell.
Obviously traders are buying and selling at optimal times but thats different
they supposedly know what they are doing.

Its called FUD - Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.

You mention a very powerful word in your OP, BELIEVE

Having a high level of education in Bitcoin gives us the knowledge, confidence
and belief to Hodl for the future.

I appreciate it if you are planning for long-term then just don't care, if you are looking for some good profit then move on don't be too greedy.

Not only your family many would say the same because at the current situation the price is already in it's peak, they say only because you should not miss this chance and opportunity. If the price goes down you can buy few more as well at the end decision is in your hands, future is purely gold without any doubt it's all about making decisions.

With the shown potential in the volatile market, it is fairly common to establish good faith in bitcoin since it set a new ATH a week ago. Honestly, selling it at the price of 41k can give you a good amount of profit, considering you have purchased it at a lower price. Regardless, your family seems to be knowledgeable about bitcoin prices and your investment value. Personally, I have been holding some of my bitcoin as I plan to generate profit at a much higher price. As of now, I have not set any price target, but I have the patience to hold it in my portfolio.

My whole family told me to sell bitcoin when it dipped from 41k to 30k (i bought at 10k). I just laughed and HODL’d. If you believe in something don’t allow yourself to get influenced by family or people online.

100k EOY🚀

I've told nobody close to me that I hold bitcoin, just as I don't talk much to them about other investments anyway.

I'd rather not have their reactions and opinions rattling around in my head.

My advice is just to keep quiet and modest about it, and after all, it's only money, not some great personal achievement.

Same, I don't like any party to be involved in me to know what I do in trading, and also gambling. I just don't want them to part of my decision making, and be somehow able to persuade me to make sudden decisions. I much rather try it alone than to be with anyone else, especially when they're my family.

And in regards with the OP ^^, I do the same, I'm still on hodl of my coins, even though they play in range of 30-38k as I believe that it will reach 50-60k within this month of January or February. Though, I won't wait for it to go 100k  Cheesy
