Hello World! I am proud to have registered on Bitcointalk and to have received a unique 3 millionth ID. I also received some welcome messages which were very encouraging for me, and I want to say that I will never use my account for shitposting.

I hope that by the time we see the ten millionth registration the forum will not have undergone significant changes and the newcomers of the future will have to deal with the version of the forum that exists in its current form. Although in 10 years the information on Bitcointalk will still be relevant, I really hope that for future newbies we will not have to create simplified guides, despite the fact that each generation becomes dumber. I hope in the future the situation with activity will become clearer, and we will see an influx of fresh blood!

It is a big coincidence when registered as the 3th millionth user and chose exactly the fitted username for your userID.  Grin

As newbies, they need to read rules, search for available topics, answers. Create new guides is not a must practice they should do.

You noticed very accurately ... even if we disregard the coincidence with the username, we still cannot deny the fact that this thread was hidden on the second or third page, (unless, of course, no one pointed out this thread to him). I think the owner of this account at least already wrote in this thread.

I really hope that for future newbies we will not have to create simplified guides, despite the fact that each generation becomes dumber.
I would not say that future generations are becoming dumber ... Perhaps they read and communicate less tete-a-tete, but definitely not become dumber. I personally watched a preschool child try to turn on cartoons, thinking that old tube television has a touch panel. Each subsequent generation becomes smarter than the previous one, because they have access to such a huge variety of information that we did not have with you.

Do you want to celebrate this event with us? Join the unofficial Discord server!

In May 2017, we celebrated the first million users, which is almost 8 years after the launch of the forum. Looking back, some of us may remember the discussion dedicated to the anniversary 2 millionth user who was registered on 03/04/2018. And although it was an alternative account, this does not negate the fact that it was a historical moment when we summed up the results and looked into the future with enthusiasm.

  • At the time of this posting, 2,999,089 profiles have been registered and I expect the Three Millionth User to be registered within 24 hours.

This is the anniversary thread and the continuation of the discussion started by Vod...... Are you ready for 2,000,000? / Below are a few anniversary quotes ..

Sorry if it sounds VERY ironic that an alt has been the 2000000th account on this platform, but there are quite a few things that I have to tell you all, possibly a new post will be better. I started as a small BTC speculative investor and cared little about the tech, I then became a shitposting Bounty Hunter. But over the months I've come to realize that it's much more than being either of them. I am trying to learn about the technology, not only BTC, but also the alts. I feel that the socio-economic impact/aspect of this revolution will be far more reaching than just the tech and it is yet to come, although I still am a noob and monetize my original account (can't help it, the pay is lucrative); I try to improve my posts and contribute to the community in  the small ways that I can.
Hi guys, I am glad to take the uid #1999999.

This is amazing achievement and speaks volumes about the growing popularity of Bitcoin and crypto.
I am glad I am one of those 3 millions members and I hope I am doing my bit to promote crypto to many others like me.

Welcome to the forum. It's nice to see that 3 million UID wasn't made by spam bot or bounty hunter.
By the way, 2 million UID was made by high ranked Bitcointalk member for reasons that I mentioned above
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2000000

Ir would be interesting to know real number of Bitcointalk members, excluding bots and alts. Because large number from these 3 millions hasn't even made single post here.

congrats! it is interesting(a little envious to be honest) you the three millionth user already have a custom title. I wonder if it is an inbuilt feature given for whoever gets the unique ID of a millionth or if theymos gave it to you as a reward for being the three millionth user?

This person has a custom title of "yes really". It makes me wonder if this person is an admin who was able to automatically create this account once UID 2999999 was used. Or if it will be someone who uses a vanity username for an extended period of time, such as scammed-by-nitro with 233 activity, or erwin45hacked (or even erwin45hackedhacked [lol]).

To be honest, I was also a little surprised when I saw the Custom Title, but it seems to me that the admins have nothing to do with creating this account. Someone just has a good sense of humor.

This is not entirely true ... in reality, there are 100 times fewer truly active accounts. And if we also exclude bounty hunters from the equation, then even less. While BPIP data shows that there are currently 250,000 active accounts, it is worth considering the fact that these numbers include 100,000 newly registered accounts (literally in 10 days). So the overall situation is pretty sad.

What we can find out if we look Active users and top posters on Bitcointalk.org in the past 7 days that the number of active users in that period is 15207, of which Newbie 3178, and brand new 8611. It is easy to conclude that a fairly small number of old members are active (in total 1341 Senior, Hero and Legendary).

So the overall situation is pretty sad.

I can only tell you that the number of active users was half as low there somewhere during 2019 and early 2020, so this number is not so bad.

I don't think there is evidence, or even that there can be evidence UID 3000000 is not an admin, absent an admin or UID 3000000 commenting on the matter. I think it is fair to say whoever is behind the account is not a brand new user.

Welcome to the forum. I was quite surprised when I see your username on a post and being curious to know more. As a newbie, you choose a username that exactly matching with your UID. It's pretty impossible for a newbie. I am assuming you are from admin/moderators or one of the tech guys like LoyceV. The custom title was more surprising because it's not possible without admin help.

Anyways best of Luck.

Your number is 3119374. You can find it by visiting your profile link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3119374
BTW, I don't know how many users usually sign up on Bitcointalk every month, but almost 120 000 new users in less than month looks quite impressive.

Lol, clearly!   Roll Eyes

Almost all newbies clearly make their first posts in Meta, clearly something you know a bit about.  And clearly kind of you to point this clearly new member to the rules, I'm sure all clearly see that is is not subterfuge.  Clearly.

Pretending you're new is one thing, but this charade of "I know everyone but nobody knows who I am" is getting cringy. The good news is that I don't need to label this as a "fake newbie" - it stands out like a sore thumb already.

You cannot exclude the bounty hunters from the active user list as they post on forum and are considered active. It does not matter if they are reporting their bounty or doing normal discussion post. Also i believe this number will increase with time as more people become aware of bitcoin and then bitcointalk.

At this rate, the number of accounts will grow dramatically every week. Probably the forum likes it since there is such an opportunity to register thousands of accounts for one person. The goals here are different, with the growth of bitcoin, the number of spammers and cheaters will grow. Today I see advertising of various ICO on the bounty boards again. Thus, there will be at least 10 accounts per person. Hence, we can assume the real number of living people who visit the forum every day. And this figure, unfortunately, is very far from 3 million.
Probably it would be possible to restrict registrations, at least using IP.

Well, even if IP restrictions are placed, scammers will just use VPN or other devices. The way to stop the spam is to regulate the bounty section and make certain regulations like the amount of persons who can participate in the campaign, and ranks. Many bounties accept totally new accounts for their campaigns on social media which leads the spammers to create new accounts. If there's a bar placed like "minimum member rank" then it can be stopped to a great extent.
