"The Streisand effect is a social phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of further publicizing that information, often via the Internet." - Wikipedia

Since Faketoshi and his friend Scamvin Ayre sent a copyright infringement letter to Bitcoin Core, jokes on them, the Bitcoin Whitepaper is now hosted on far more websites than ever before.

https://squarecrypto.org/bitcoin.pdf
https://www.binance.com/public/bitcoin.pdf
https://www.coincenter.org/bitcoin.pdf
https://www.microstrategy.com/content/dam/website-assets/collateral/bitcoin-downloads/bitcoin-a-peer-to-peer-electronic-cash-system.pdf
https://chaincode.com/bitcoin.pdf
http://research.huobi.cn/detail/386
https://btcpayserver.org/bitcoin.pdf
https://keys.casa/bitcoin.pdf

and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

"A lone hornet doesn't stand a chance against a predator.
A swarm of cyber hornets can defend against anything." - Jameson Lopp

Go fuck yourself, Faketoshi.

CoinDesk article: Why Everyone From Square to Facebook Is Now Hosting the Bitcoin White Paper

"The cybereconomy could well be the greatest economic phenomenon of the next thirty years."

~ when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information~
This was not his intentions at all, not in this recent drama nor in any other previous cases.
He doesn't give a crap if the entire internet hosted the bitcoin paper, all he cared about was causing the drama, scam people and most importantly to attack bitcoin core developers. I don't think he is going to stop there either, I wouldn't be surprised to see long and expensive lawsuits against people involved in bitcoin development in the near future.
This will continue until he is behind bars eventually in a couple of years from now.

P.S. don't get me wrong, it is a good reaction from the community to show him the middle finger though.

I think I have old copies of the Whitepaper (both in text and audio forms/formats).
The Original Whitepaper will easily make sense to anyone who understands Bitcoin and its obvious principles like decentralization/peer-to-peer, transparency, immutablity, censorship resistant, permissionless, privacy, etc.
The original whitepaper can always be compared with what people claim as real the ones. The original would be in harmony with The Bitcoin Principles.

It's important to hash the real whitepaper, distribute across many well decentralized nodes(that can be easily run by most users) and keep it immutable

It may or not be the reason. What I like about it though, that him power-tripping Bitcoin Core caused the Bitcoin community to sort of Uno Reverse Card(context) his face. It's so satisfying seeing the community band together that this might as well be Bitcoin's #1 highlight of 2021 already lol.

I agree, most likely he knew this was going to be the response of the community, so we need to wonder what he wanted to get out of this? And I think you're right he wanted to get attention out of this, for people like us it doesn't really make sense but for someone that loves drama this makes all the sense in the world, and while we are completely sure that he's not Satoshi I will consider this characteristic of him one of the most compelling pieces of evidence that shows that he could not be Satoshi, Satoshi was worried about his privacy and about remaining anonymous while Wright wants the opposite.

It's like they say - there's no such thing as negative publicity, all publicity is good publicity. This is certainly true for CWS , and every time he gets publicity some new unfortunate person gets sucked into his cult. I think the fact that bitcoincore.org removed the whitepaper is already a huge win for him, some people would view it as a proof that he might be Satoshi and CWS himself would probably try to use it as such in the future.

Would have been better if all these companies instead pledged funds for any legal fees for smaller sites, like the mentioned bitcoincore.org in case CWS would be able to bring them to court, which I highly doubt he can.

I didn't realize Bitcoincore.org removed it -- that was fast. It's rather sad to see Core developers immediately giving in to this sort of bullying. Undecided

I understand the practical argument that the whitepaper doesn't need to be hosted there, and that a legal case would just be a financial burden and distraction for the Core developers. Still, it's sad to see and it does give Wright a way to declare victory.

Wright is going after Square now, which probably isn't very smart. Unlike Core, Jack Dorsey might be willing to litigate.

This one is definitely going to be really interesting lol. Dorsey's going to have all the connections and all the money in the world to not win here. Unfortunately, Dorsey's probably not the type of guy to publicize with great detail what's going to happen; not like what happened to the Hodlonaut/McCormack cases.

Ah FFS, WTF

just getting this news now of CSW, unbelievable.
My first reaction to bitcoincore buckling was astonishment but I get the argument
that it is just a distraction from their "core" business and wouldnt need the litigious grief pursuing
continued hosting of the whitepaper.

It looks like CSW is going big in 2021
