Oddly enough I thought today that it's a good way of tracking deflation because I have the historical prices of items like Lucky charms on March 3rd cost 4,073 $SATs now they only cost 3,237 and Illy Coffee Beans, on March 27th they cost 16,783 $SATs and now they are 14,027 SATs.
Printers go Brrrrrrr
This graph shows how many sats you can buy with one USD over time

We're still here guys & girls. If any of you have visited the site recently, you might have noticed the lack of items....... Well Tesco blocked our IP address so we couldn't scrape the data anymore. Anyway, I have written to their innovations team and hopefully, we'll get whitelisted. In the interim, we'll have to perform some magic and rely on older data. Also, we are working on a historical pricing graph so watch out for that

Well Tesco blocked our IP address so we couldn't scrape the data anymore. Maybe you used to short time interval for fetching data from their website... that could often result in IP getting banned. You could use multiple addresses for collecting information from Tesco and use longer time intervals to avoid their DDOS detection, if they don't allow whitelisting.

Without disclosing exactly how it works would you be able to identify why it got you flagged?

Thanks for the input, one of the issues was how often we scraped, initially, it was set at 30minute intervals to ensure the price was recent, then I changed it to once a day. Still, I think it was too often and therefore they band us (probably just an automatic WAF rule) through resource utilisation - after all, we try and collect data on over 7k items. So we had to change the schedule to weekly and we are going to add a couple of rules, which should have been in place. Check first then update.

We've added HISTORICAL PRICES! Going forward it should track the price of items against the price of bitcoin, showing a downward trend in terms of goods. As its been launched today. Its just using todays price against some historical data I pulled. See more here: https://thepriceinsats.com/historical-pricesI need to do a freedom of information request from tesco to give me the previous prices of the 10 items over the last year. Hopefully they will play ball. The mole is moving forward. Thanks for your support.

I've finally added blogs to the site and you can read the first one here: https://thepriceinsats.com/blog/Why-does-price-in-sats-existHopefully, in the coming months/year I can dig deeper into this part of the bitcoin ecosystem. My next blog will just be a list of useful links to e.g. the whitepaper. Let me know if you would like me to discuss any topics.
