1NiNja1bUmhSoTXozBRBEtR8LeF9TGbZBN

This is the donation address for https://www.bitaddress.org/

He has had inputs (donations), but no output so far, and at the moment he has 36.42374799 BTC  Shocked, this is a very large amount for the owner of the page not to take out the BTC and live rich.

What will happen? Did the owner of the page forget the private key, would something have happened to him or what?  Shocked

It seems the owner of that address is pointbiz who developed bitaddress.org and last active here on the forum is "July 02, 2018, 09:50:39 PM".

His announcement thread about this project "[ANN] bitaddress.org Safe JavaScript Bitcoin address/private key"

I believe that this is not the only wallet he had and I'm sure he already sold some of bitcoin.

And take note he is still active on Github look at this recent post from another github https://github.com/janoside/btc-rpc-explorer/issues/286

Remember he created it back in 2011 back then BTC was cheap. I think it was as low as $2 or $3 a coin. He could be sitting on a pile of BTC.

Mining was also generating a lot of coins for the hardware that you could get at the time (not necessarily profit in terms of dollars) there are a lot of old timers out there that are sitting on 100s if not 1000s of coins. Selling as needed.

But you don't know those addresses or hear about them, because most people are not going to come here and talk about it.

If he lost the private keys, he can probably change the donation bitcoin address on the bitaddress website anytime.
As what @BitMaxz said, he/she still active on Github. But the repository of Bitaddress is still no changes or other commits since 2016.
The owner got diamond hands Cool, HODLER  Cool.

Even if he can change the address, that would be if he still has access to the the website itself. Or he simply think that the top hasn't been reached yet and still looking for a good exit point for those coins.  It should definitely be a painful experience if it turns out that truly he lost the private key.

This looks like it's the case with it.

This kind of activity really allows us to see that this guy must be a good guy (ah funny saying). I mean he could be living the life that he's always dreamed off (I do believe he had other reserves of BTC somewhere) and yet he's still humble to the point of helping out other people and actually contributing to projects. Good for him and for us!

The fact that he still holds the same address doesn't really it in the whole theory of him losing his private key (at least for me). Perhaps he's using that wallet to just funds for when whenever he deems fit use in order to improve the project or something like that (and even that thought doesn't make much sense).

Yeah probably he also mined back then or something like that so the donation is perhaps kind of a side thing ? We can also think that he has so many BTC's that he doesn't even remember checking his donation address  Grin

Isn't it ironic though, the developer himself, a paper wallet application that has been used for probably thousands times by many enthusiast to hold their precious BTC, losses his own access which currently sits around $1,900,000.

He's probably living the life he's been dreaming of 10 years ago while automating this service. Imagine, being aware of Bitcoin for 10 years give you enough time to contemplate whether this tech is good or not. Anyway, the fact that he doesn't touch the Bitcoin in that wallet means he has hundreds of em already in another wallet.

That's probably a reason why he still didnt access his account.

And looking at hoe much bitcoin cost right now, with that 36 bitcoin on it he can surely enjoy life at the moment. But there are also questions in my mind. Whether he is still active or not in other websites aside from here. And oh I saw bitmarz reply;

Quote
And take note he is still active on Github look at this recent post from another github https://github.com/janoside/btc-rpc-explorer/issues/286

In this case maybe he still wanted to hold those bitcoin for some good purpose.

WHY?!!
Why is it so hard for some people to believe that there are others out there that don't care about these small rises that bitcoin has and are in bitcoin for the long haul not to get rich quickly.
You also don't know how much bitcoin that person has in their other addresses, even having 0.1 elsewhere is more than enough to not want to touch the cold storage.

It's quite easy to say that he doesn't need it and he is in it for the long run. It's quite safe to assume that he has forgotten it exists because he is active somewhere else. A lot of people probably focus on the things they are doing and not care about other stuff. Unless it's the only source that he has but that's not the case for him for sure.

Maybe he is thinking of a way to use it too. Maybe a great way to spend it is to donate it as well for charities. There are great charities here in the forum.

If you check the "Games and Rounds" sub-section in this forum for posts in 2012 and 2013, then you can find a lot of giveaways of BTC0.001 or even BTC0.01. Back then BTC was trading at around $5 per coin and no one thought that the prices would increase by 10,000 times after 7-8 years. A lot of the experienced users had a habit of giving small giveaways to new users. Those who joined back then were really lucky. I joined this forum one year later.

You are actually one of the lucky ones who joined this forum in 2014, the price of Bitcoin was still around tens or hundreds of dollars at that time...
Very bad luck if the owner of the wallet actually forgets the password or loses his private key because currently, the value of Bitcoin in that wallet is around $ 1,632,510.

BIG WINNER!
[15.00000000 BTC]

It's probably a paper wallet Wink

And it's probably he lost the private key,  Smiley

Guess he/she would have changed the address by now if the key is really lost. I don't really see why the address will remain on the site if the keys to access the coins has been lost.

This thread reminded me Kryp Tina. Her bitcoins that were donated for her work are now sitting, waiting for someone to spend them. Unfortunately for Tina, the private key is lost: 1HVzMTuEGCibEpKNUNFdwW2kVrnZqfsLMj

WHY?!!
It surprises him, because this person has a non-touched fortune of 36.4 bitcoins for a decade. It isn't a matter of wanting to be rich quickly, it's just odd. But true, we don't know how much money does that man/woman have, so he/she may never needed to spend them.
