Well you can easily click twice on marketcap button in coinmarketcap website to sort coins by its marketcap.

I have one rule of investment: Never ask for financial advice on the internet. People who answer you will only give you the answer they like. What's that mean? it means they will only ask you to buy on something that they bought or profit/loss before. Without any real reason on why you should buy it. You can't blame them if the coins have no value anymore in the future.
Always do your own do diligence, read more! There's tons of articles and video to watch before putt money on some coin.

For now polka dot looks like the most innovative project in the market so my vote will be for it, i can not predict how high the price of dot will go but i have really positive vibes about it.

Polkadot is really one of the most promising projects out there at the moment but you need to keep in mind that it already did at least x10 since it was listed on exchanges compared to otc days it probably did more than 50x so the question is, if you are already late to the party if you join now.
And OP asked for a project with a marketcap below 500 M USD. Maybe radix is something for you OP, it's also running at it's own blockchain soon and it's marketcap is only slightly above 500 M$.

For coins below 500 million you can find the projects that have eth based tokens some of them i really have high regard for are utrust utk and telcoin tel because i think they are authentic projects with real future potential and use cases.

They're quite rare now these days so I can't count any.
One is likely just from pump and dump.
Hypes.Celebrities.  I don't believe that much in newer projects even if we're suppose to find more opportunities out there to invest.

Amepay with token ticker AME looks solid to me, initially i thought it was an overly hyped project but when i analysed it myself i am convinced that it will be an outstanding project that can make positive change in the market. From investment point of view it looks very solid as well but in the end it is your choice which one you choose to buy and hold.

Bnb was my most favorite altcoin cause i knew that it could be suceesful. Recently it pump a lot and so can't suggest that anymore.but i think you may check dego finance on coingecko. Circulating Supply is 5,422,186 out of 9,908,686 max supply.it has around $21,555,326 Market Cap at this moment.they have eth and bnb network, it can be mine too.but it pump 4x within 15days. So check out before buy cause you'll be responsible for your own decision

you can drop your money to polkadot or BNB, if you think eth price already too high mate
but i think you will regret if ethereum price touch more than $10K in the future, and you will think if the current price of eth is cheap
