What is strange is after not getting pole position Max's odds are better @1.69x to win the Canadian GP.
It must be due to the one who received pole or the weather could be a factor.

It's because the main force driving the odds up was a total flop in the battle for the grid positions, but right now Max has only Rusell in front and two of the main contenders are back after Ferrari did the unimaginable! So they expect that if the McLarnes weren't faster than Max they wouldn't be able to pass him in the circuit also, had Max scored the pole position the odds would be under 1.4 maybe 1.3 probably.

The only thing that pisses me off is that I discarded the option of Russell finishing in point before so right now that's worthless in the betting.

Thanks rdbase and if there is anyone who bet on Russell from odds like 31.00 then big congrats!    Mercedes drivers were really solid in FP3 but I didn't want to fall for that because of what I saw in Monaco after the same situation. 

But this time was different. Russell was killing it in Q2 already. He even had the fastest time of the whole session in Q2. But that kind of an ending was very unexpected for everyone undoubtedly.



They had completely the same time for the pole... But Russell was advantageous of setting it before Verstappen. Have you seen how desperate Ferraris were. Saying goodbye in Q2 already must be frustrating.

Well, I didn't expect to see a race between a RB and a Ferrari happen with Haas cars around competing for that but...as I was saying two races ago, the bookies were spot on with all those Ferrari upgrades, weren't the silver bullet needed.

So, Max won, Ferrari flopped, and Mercedes compensated on my bets for the placing, I'm starting to get the pattern here. Probably I'm going to stick with Lando being on the podium from now on and completely discard the Ferraris for this, the McLaren boys seems far more consistent on this.

Finally my heart was racing along cars this F1 weekend and I'm glad that Canada delivered the best race of the season so far and it wouldn't have been possible without rain right ? Hopefully in Spain we will have at least 50% of what we had today because F1 needs race like this to keep you on the edge of your seat.

I also think Max won fairly but I must admit both McLarens and Russel put up a great fight in order to win the race but Max is really something different and very hard to beat.

Do I understand right that safety car was released after Norris went through finish line, otherwise it would be difficult to understand why he stopped to change tyres only on next lap. So, Max got a bit lucky with this. But in general, it was great race with some rain. And one of rare cases when we didn't had any red flags because of this. Both Mercedes and Mclaren drivers gave great fight and changes in results is still possible because of investigation.
Right I said yesterday, Perez got contract extended right on time, few his recent performances is just disgraceful. And weekend to forget for both Ferrari.

The thing after pondering about it for awhile afterwards was the engine troubles he was having earlier in practice that bled into the later sessions there after. Upon post inspection it was to do with the car's energy recovery system among several other things.
So I would assume they remedied those problems as his RB20 looked superb in Sunday's race.

I was wondering what the qualifying race looked like and F1 posted about it showing a splitscreen of both drivers within their cockpits during the exact same timings for pole position but could only be given to one driver and that was Russell of course:

They were discussing if maybe they should move the timings to 4 decimal places instead.

The race was almost Lando's again but he was doing so great that he past the pitlane where he could of boxed to change his tyres just like the other 3-4 cars that were able to do it before the first safety car came out after the crash of Sargent.
The shock of the race was both Ferrari's were DNF, first Leclerc then Sainz.
Russell taking Hamilton's podium late into the race was also unexpected but I would like to think he was just giving him a going away parting gift.
Or actually taking it away from him.

I'm enjoying this season more and more.    The gap between Red Bull and others is closer now as you can see. Verstappen can't dominate every race that easy anymore which is great to see.

I didn't understand why McLaren didn't call Norris to pit at the same time with his direct rivals when he had a great time advantage. I think Norris really deserved to win this race so no wonder why he was the "driver of the day".

Another interesting thing was seeing Ferrari gamble with Leclerc's race. Why would you go for hards while it was still slippy and likely to rain more??    I can't imagine how frustrated Leclerc was after such a poor race.

They didn't call Norris to box like all the others drivers because they couldn't.
He was too far infront to call him in and past the pitlane unlike all those other cars.
Which as you had mentioned basically cost him the race.
As for Ferrari receiving a double DNF on both cars that is pitiful from the Scuderia il Cavallino Rampante.
You can see Leclerc struggling in the corners trying to keep it on the track.

So we have two-weeks until the next race happens in Spain.
The drivers have their summer holidays from now til then so they will have alot to ponder while catching those  rays.

What is even funnier on those major streaming services there was a movie which just released called Ferrari with Adam Driver showing how the car company came to be.
Might be a comedy for those interested and the Ferrari drivers watching it this weekend without a race.
You would expect double DNFs from an Alpine or even a Williams but not a Ferrari team who are closest to Red Bull in the constructors at 252 points.

Many are saying that the season is generally over since it looks like Max will get another win this year in the drivers championship. There are another 15 races to go into the season so I don't know where they are grabbing their stats from.

In addition to all the changes mentioned on the source, downforce is also expected to be cut by around 30%. Just as it says in the source too, this means slower cars than now.

However I think these changes will be likely to make the races more fun.    Cars will be smaller so overtaking on even annoying tracks would be more likely to be seen.

I'm just not happy with the change in DRS system.    I think most people love the traditional DRS instead of this new mode they are going to be trying.

Nice wholesome story to hear and seen a bit to the end of the race, where she beat a field full of men which I found amusing right before watching the Canadian GP. Where she can probably beat some of these current F1 drivers like Lance Stroll (at his home track) and Liam Lawson.

Not that Ferrari needs my defense, but I think the track was drying, and what we need to remember is that when there are 20+ cars going about 300+ km per hour, the track is hotter than everywhere else, which means that it dries quite fast, even after rain, because those tires do leave skid marks that make it hotter and hotter.

So, their assumption was that because rain was leaving soon, if they do hard earlier than everyone else, they would be first ones to get advantage, sure maybe for one or tow laps it would be bad, but then it would balanace out and he would do better and everyone would pit and he would be ahead of a few people that way. The strategy obviously did not work, but it is totally understandable why they did it.

By the way, Kimi Antonelli is going to be allowed to enter Formula 1 at the age of 17 after a recent change made by FIA.    They have decided to make an exception for young drivers who have proven their "outstanding skills" to them.

I have watched the video and yes, I can agree with the possible dangers. Especially those active systems on the front and rear wing make me doubtful as well. How are they going to guarantee there wouldn't be a problem?

There is still a long time ahead of FIA to rethink and revise these changes until 2026 season. I hope driver safety would be prioritized while trying to make overtakes more often and make races more exciting.

Taking about Kimi, it got me thinking if he would be the youngest driver to join F1 or would it still be Max?

Kimi Antonelli was born on August 25, 2006. He already got past 17 years 166 days on this February so he missed that train to be the youngest driver to debut in F1. 



Such a young driver Verstappen was back then though. I really wonder whether we will see any other driver breaking his record in the future. To tell the truth, I believe it is quite likely after this change in the rules.

By the way another thing I'm wondering is what Mercedes is planning recently.    Maybe they might want to bring Antonelli even during this season and make him their reserve driver to start preparing him for Hamilton's seat already.
