I suggest forum should enable option to view your entered password while login. Sometimes we just have bad fingers and mistype our password. Option to view password will save us from several attempts due to mistyped password.
Or is there any way to do it?

I don't think such thing is needed. I'm not sure how safe it would be looking from security perspective. I haven't seen that many websites would let to view password - probably there is a reason for it.
And finally, if you had misstyped your password because of fat fingers or something similar, where is the problem to write it again correctly. I don't think it's big issue.

Truth is such, features may never be added to the current forum software. Many good suggestions have been made but nothing has been done which means we may have to wait until bitcointalk is on the new forum software.

That being said, what browser are you using? I do see the option on Microsoft Edge

Edit: I don't see the option in Firefox, Chrome and Opera so I think it's browser dependent.

You alternatively use password manager like Bitwarden so that you don't have to always type you complex password when logging in.

Don't really think most people actually has that much difficulty when typing passwords? Bitcointalk doesn't usually add the tiny features frequently but it would be fairly easy to do so.

Instead of asking the forum, why don't you just get a tampermonkey script that would toggle the password's visibility?

Really is that a serious issue? You can't just write your password carefully? Doesn't matter you miss one or two times, it wouldn't block your account. So this isn't something much important to add a new implementation on the forum software. And I don't think we really need such as service. Who knows if someone following from your backside during entering the password, most likely your account would compromise as well this way.

Or is there any way to do it?
If you are a little lazy to write a password or forget the words to write, you can simply do as shown in the image below.
notebook:

paste:

This kind of feature, in my opinion is safe enough to do, without having to write.
you find it easier to do it.

this way without having to change what is already there.

I think this is freedom giving individuals the choice to see their password whether they've composed correct or incorrect without forcing them to type it once more. Regardless of in which gadget you typed your password should be visible on screen. Truly not a major issue, indeed worthy implement.

There are other ways to do it though.

Technical way: Edit the Input type of the password field from the HTML from "password" to "text" using Chrome Dev Tools(Shortcut Key:F12). You have to do this every time you login though.

User-friendly way: I searched some quite rated Chrome Extensions that would do what you need, I found this from Chrome Web Store. [ShowPassword]
Just need to hover your cursor on password field so it would show automatically.

Suggestion of it being implemented to the forum is not necessary nor needed in my opinion.

It may be a better idea to not even make/type the password yourself and use instead the password a password manager generates for you.
It will be more random and you'll get it into clipboard until you log in and save it into the password manager for good.
(Of course, after login you have to remember to clear the clipboard).
At least this is what I do for some years now.

The easiest way would be to type your password in the "username" box since characters aren't hidden there then cut and paste in the "password" box. Your problem is solved without using any tools or saving PW elsewhere.

I'm not sure if it creates any liabilities for the forum or not to offer this as a built-in feature, I'd guess it is probably not a good idea from a security perspective. But it is fairly easy to do it on most browsers by right-clicking, inspecting the element, and changing the <input type="password"* to <input type="text"* and the password will display. A few steps but shouldn't be too hard to script a plugin or something if you really wanted it.  Smiley

You should also avoid cut/copy & pasting passwords, as the 'clipboard' in your machine is definitely not a secure place for a password.

no it's not browser dependent, that feature need to be added explicitly by developer by toggling the input field from "password" to "text".

Yeb this is right but i guess 70% doing it even they know that !
I would say there is normaly no need for that the password is shown when you type it in .
We all have sometimes Fat fingers if type something in a password or Username field.
Best option would be then a password manager for you , or maybe stay logged in and write down your password if you logging out after a long time , just in case you forgot it.

Do ya'll seriously type your pass every time you log in? I don't even remember mine (not sure if I ever typed it after I registered my account). Thank good chrome has its wonderful feature called password manager.

If you don't feel cool about chrome's built-in pass manager go for premium paid ones.

Well, good and  hard password may get compromised if being visibly seen to others that if we consider lot of btc users in your place and wishes to get your account. However, you can actually change your password of the account to simplified combinations so that it would be easy for you to type your password.

Using also clipboard by typing it and then copy and paste would be a good way too to access your account. Whatever the forum has offer or the design, a user should still adopt to it and making good use of it in positivity. In this case OP, I'd rather get too many mistakes in accessing my account rather than getting compromise with the way how others are done in accessing their account.

Reminders, that the more difficult for you to access your account the more other users or hackers gain access to it. Just always remember your password so that you will not going to lose the account. Bitcointalk account nowadays is so precious that even others are now consider selling or buying it or if not buying merits. I had been having some users that are suspicious in rewarding their merits but I could not get a good proof to it. This usually happens to low rank users.

Browser dependent in a sense that you have the option to view that password on Microsoft edge minus tinkering or adding a few plugins unlike on Firefox, Chrome or Opera. I posted a screenshot.

Great, reduce your account security so that you can have a little bit of convenience?

Copying anything on a clipboard is risky to say the least. The stuff on it are often cached either in memory or just easily retrieved. If you frequently log out of your forum account, then I don't think the environment that you're in would allow you to take the risk of having something so sensitive in your clipboard.

The steps recommended in this thread (inspect element and changing the password field to plain text) seem like more work than to carefully and slowly enter the password in the first place. Why not use the feature to always stay logged in? The forum has no timeouts after several unsuccessful password entries. If you make a mistake, just try again after checking Caps Lock is not turned on and that you are not using a different keyboard layout.

@YOSHIE
I think a few people definitely tried to log in to your account using the password you posted in the screenshot. Grin

Right, it look like the reference I've included here are helpful enough to explain that it's not safe to do so. Clipboard Hijacker Malware. @LoyceV also goes into a lot of detail about how someone become a scam just because of CTRL-C CTRL-V. How to lose your Bitcoins with CTRL-C CTRL-V

Previously I thought this was a good option for the OP, but after I read the @LoyceV thread my mind changed and I don't think it's the best way to do it when the device is connected to the internet.
