I've just restored my old wallet.dat from 9 years ago when I was mining and buying bitcoins - it now has all kinds of other balances as well (BCH, BCC, BCD, BSV - at least - as well as original BTC).  I worked this out by using pywallet.py to list all my addresses, and some websites to show my balances.

I no longer have or trust the original bitcoin software that I used to use, and I do not feel like installing anything new (my skin crawls just thinking of all the complexity I'd have to come to terms with to cash-out all those coins and several-dozen wallets).

Does anyone know of a trading exchange or an online web site (trusted!!) which will let me upload my file, supply my key password, and automatically do "whatever it needs to" to efficiently (sensible low fees) let me trade my coins, or, send them to my existing FTX deposit addresses - ultimately - I'd like to use FTX exchange to trade.

Stupid trivia 1: I was buying BTC off eBay for $12, and I refused to pay the extortionate prices of $14 that most sellers were asking at the time... (face-slap).
Stupid trivia 2: I was mining on my top-of-the-line GPU, but it overheated a few times, but rather than fix the cooling [a peltier that worryingly dripped condensate], I simply stopped mining (other-cheek-face-slap).

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I don’t think any such web services are available. If there are, they most possibly will be scam site who will steal your fund. Well, some sites allow importing private key.

Can’t you remember the wallet you used? If the file is wallet.dat, as far as I know, it should be bitcoin core wallet which is still very much trusted (in fact that’s the original wallet from satoshi). If you can figure out, it’s nothing much of hassle.
And to claim the bitcoin fork, you can follow this tutorial by LoyceV- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.0

Friendly advice- Don’t trust anyone with your wallet.dat file. You can easily recover the fund.

I would not do this. My advice is to move your bitcoin to an exchange (if you intend on selling them), or a new wallet (if you plan on holding them), then to download the wallet software on a fresh device for each fork you are claiming.

Any online site does not offer extracting your coin from wallet.dat file. If anyone is offering such service online then most probably they are scam and if you step in their trap then you will give yourself another face-slap.

The files from 9 years ago which means you should have a good amount of crypto to give it a try by yourself. Don't be that lazy and spoil an opportunity and later regrate again.

Install bitcoin core, search online or write here if you do not understand anything. Carefully follow the steps you know and the steps you will learn on the way you go. Recover the coins and then download Electrum which is very easy to operate and move the coins to the new secure wallet.

Something strange reads between the lines. You managed somehow to set mining program and it worked well. This was done when minimum was something new to society. And you have done it. Then 9 passed and you have lost all your experience and are afraid to install wallet? Hard to believe in this.

I dont think that there are exchanges that offer someone to upload something to them and let them do the rest. Why dont you hire someone that can set everything on your device?

P.S. You know what, I think that you simply bought (or got it other way) that wallet.dat file and keys and know what to do next. I think you have bought something like "selling my old wallet with 1000 BTC for $100. Cant remember the last digit from password and I'm lazy to manually check  26 letters and 10 number. That is why I'm selling it"

Thanks @all - like I said - I wanted to skip having to waste days learning all the new ropes (software, sensible fees, new wallet formats - for every damned fork)... but looks like that's not possible (grr).
And to the skeptic lurking here, bzzt. nope. everything I said is true. (and yeah, to be fair, for every one of me, there probably are ten or a hundred others exactly like he described... but hey - I like being exceptional :-)

If you haven't done so already, you can use TryNinja's site https://findmycoins.ninja/ to check for any forked coins you own. Unfortunately, there is no shortcut in the process of claiming hard forks. The most important thing is to transfer bitcoin from those addresses first before importing their private keys into non-bitcoin software.

When scammers see your OP, they will probably PM you offering their services. Most of the time they'll ask you to send them your wallet.dat file. Never do that, they are lying, they can't help you, and only want to steal your coins. Each step of the claiming and recovery process should be public.

Advanced crypto users specifically avoid anything online when they deal with their private keys, they even handle them in environment fully isolated from the Internet, but you want to do the opposite and just give your wallet to some website because it's "trusted". I never heard about any site accepting private key or wallet as a form of deposit, but there are some services that would take your empty Bitcoin wallet and claim all the forks for a 5-10% fee, but I don't know how trusted are they.

You should get an old PC or laptop, wipe it, remove hard drive, disconnect from the Internet, boot a live Linux OS, then try to open your wallet.dat in this environment, check the addresses that you get on online machine, and if everything is good, sign a transaction that moves your coins to a new wallet, created in this same isolated environment.

...

I recently ran into this topic at a forum, so you can ask this guy:
LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service)

But I can't guarantee that he is TRUSTED as I had no personal experience with him (perhaps other, more experienced members can confirm this).

Personally, I would probably try to follow the instructions and claim all the forks on my own. But that's just me.

I'll start with a short version Smiley First, make a backup of your wallet.dat. Then, make another backup on another device (USB stick), and another backup!
Then, get a secure computer. If you're looking at several Bitcoins, it may very well be worth to install a Linux distribution. There's no rush, learn before you do things! Or buy a new laptop just to be sure it's free from malware, it's a small investment if you're holding several Bitcoins.

That being said, I can do everything you're asking for, but there's this:
General note: never give your private key or word seed phrase to anybody! If you're not the sole owner of your private keys, you're not the owner at all!
If you want me to claim your forked coins for you, you're going to have to give me your private key(s). Now, read the sentence above this again. Are you confused yet? That was intentional to make you realize what you're about to do!
You should NOT risk your Bitcoins. Period! Your Bitcoin is more than 98% of the value of your wallet.
After you've securely moved your Bitcoin, I can extract your Forkcoins for you:
I can't claim all Forks, only the ones that are worth it. I can extract these Forks:
BCH: $480
BSV: $180
BCH-A: $14
BTG: $25
BCD: $9
Current rates are a tad higher than quoted above.

several-dozen wallets
If you literally have several dozens of wallets, you can do them one at a time.

Thanks @all - like I said - I wanted to skip having to waste days learning all the new ropes (software, sensible fees, new wallet formats - for every damned fork)...
What's a few days on 9 years? Wink
You don't need "all" Forks, most are pretty worthless so you can just skip them.

you can use TryNinja's site https://findmycoins.ninja/ to check for any forked coins you own.
I don't think it's TryNinja's site. And I've seen it give incorrect results on several occasions. I use it, but don't assume it's correct.

You should ignore all PMs you receive, offering to "help" you. People have been scammed that way.
