Congratulations! This is good experience. Could you say what wallets do you use? I suppose most people here are dreaming about zero fees too.

yesterday I read that buying a Tesla car can use bitcoin and atm bitcoin is already in big cities now buying vitamins can with bitcoin proves that bitcoin is advancing in the real world yesterday bitcoin is only limited to digital currency and is not accepted in the real world and some even claim bitcoin banned in some countries maybe in the future bitcoin will be accepted in all countries.
Buying a Tesla with Bitcoin is supposedly a thing, I wonder who will ever buy one with BTC though, so are the ATMs, they have started popping up in every corner, even in smaller countries. However, OP here is mentioning that the seller of the vitamins was a friend, otherwise he wouldn't have bought them with Bitcoin. We are not even close to having BTC as a payment processor, due to its fees and its high value.

That was good. So cool to know that you were did Bitcoin transaction for the first time with your friend. I imagine that your friend is so thankful that you are his friend. That was a bonus points for having a good friend. Good friend is hard to find because some may always take advantage the other. But in your case, both of you are in common denominator of being beneficial to bothbin times of circumstances.

The use of crypto currency in this fashion is best way to boycott the fiat currencies. Obviously we still need the later one but if you want to futuristic, anonymous then here you, just switch to your bitcoin wallet and send the money. Unlike other UPI for example, GPay, an Indian payment wallet by Google is worst of all. You can send the money in simple manner but you expose the phone number of receiving party and either way is true too. So I don't like that one. I mean one can make 100+ transaction in single month for daily stuff and I would be exposing my personal details that way.
However, as we know very well, bitcoin is the solution that was made 10 years ago! Most genius thinking as compared to what Google did today. So yeah respect the crypto world, it will grow eventually.

No fees at all because we are using the same custodial wallet that is regulated by the central bank and the government.
I assume you mean the company that controls the wallet is authorized by the government. Just to clear things up, you used coins.ph maybe? Most probably yes. Not only because he's a Filipino, but most of us here transact Bitcoin and other major alts with Coins.ph. And yes the company has been regulated by the central bank Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central bank of the PH).
It really feels good when you made a successful Bitcoin transaction. Just like me when I bought a $200 Android Phone from different city where my friend was situated. I asked him to buy the phone for me and ship it to my hometown, and then I paid him with Bitcoin as he likes to have one also. That was back in 2019, he's lucky If he's still holding it until this very moment.

This is an interesting experience with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, but at the moment you will have to pay a large fee if you want to buy things with Bitcoin. Anyway this is a very good experience for everyone, if this happens more often then a lot of people will know about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

It's very nice to see that more people are starting to use Bitcoin as a payment method. In some countries, I've heard that their governments have imposed a temporary ban on it. But people should be incentivized to use Bitcoin like this also. Because this will help Bitcoin adoption to reach better levels.

Peer to peer payments are complex. As long as we can't make direct purchases of pharmaceutical products with Bitcoin, I am not going to comment much. Here in India, it is not possible to purchase the medicines directly using Bitcoin. First you need to convert your Bitcoins to gift cards and then use these gift cards for the purchase. The second option is to top up your virtual credit card using Bitcoin and use it for the purchase.

Yeah, the wrong part was not really about the fee but about it being p2p, it was more like a Paypal transaction than a decentralized p2p payment. Even if it's between two different wallets and it is a real blockchain transaction as long as there is a payment gateway between like coinbase or bitpay it shouldn't be counted as p2p.
But, sincerely, I think that at least in the near future those types of transactions would far outweigh real on-chain ones, just looking at the fees it makes them really impracticable, I don't know how much those vitamins cost as I know their price can range from a few $ to a few hundred but still a 5-10$ is a bit of turn-off. Eh, in the end at least it did involve bitcoin, every day I feel like there are just so few people using it to sell and buy stuff.
That's what I thought when I read the thread. Let's see if he had paid $15 in fees to buy $50 worth of vitamins. I'm not exactly thrilled with the OP's story either. At the moment Bitcoin is succeeding as a store of value and we will see if in the future it becomes a means of payment, either by LN or by this type of transactions. But if the Bitcoin is the best store of value in the world, which does not stop appreciating, giving the best returns, the most sensible thing to do is to keep it and not spend it. Spend worthless fiat instead. I am not criticizing the OP for this, I too have made small transactions as the price of Bitcoin has been rising, but I am referring to the fact that I see it difficult for it to become a means of payment if it is such a good store of value, at least in the near future. Both me and the seller are using the same local centralized Bitcoin wallet app COINS.PH, so when transferring funds from one to the other, no fees charged. Unless if we choose to use a DEX wallet, of course there will be charges like you just mentioned. And by the way, the vitamins I've bought was worth more than $60 in value. I usually order every month as I take them 3 to 4 times daily. Apart from that vitamins, I also order some optimizers like fish oil and supplements that are good for liver health and brain and he will be happy to accept Bitcoin again for these.

Great experience.
I hope that someday that I'll have those friends that got my back and would provide the things that I need and will ask them that I'll be paying them in bitcoin.
You've got a good friend and you've also used bitcoin as a payment directly without any need to pay the confirmation fee because it's an off chain transaction.

Snip--- My good friend is happy, and he doesn’t mind me to use Bitcoin again to transact with him. I don’t mind how long will BTC be massively adopted, at least it’s good to spread awareness and advocacy about it.
payment using bitcoin is still limited at this time. Moreover, most countries, including mine, prohibit the use of cryptocurrency as a means of payment. Cryptocurrency is only allowed as a trading commodity and an investment tool, all the risks are borne by the user. so if you want to make transactions with crypto, such as bitcoin, it can only be done on a small and limited scale, as you and your friends do. well, if you can cut transaction fees, payment using bitcoin can be an effective payment alternative.

At first i though it is really between 2 wallet, because even in 1 Wallet blockchain, different address need fees too to collect our money into 1 address. But maybe if bitcoin already be legal or maybe it be done with internal transaction like in same exchange, as long both sender and receiver agree to do it, i think no problem if use it. If me i use bitcoin or crypto to pay digital product like pay electricity around 2015 when price still low.

For several years, I have been maintaining my overall well-being by taking US-made vitamins with the same brand since late 2013. I usually order them both offline and online, either paying it through cash, bank transfer or debit card. Until now, I am still a proud user of it. It really helped managed my anxiety and panic attack symptoms, as well as better sleep quality, extra stamina during the day, better metabolism, etc.
But I stopped ordering online for 2 years. In order to save me some shipping fees, I have decided to order it from a good friend who is a licensed distributor of the vitamins product.
One day, I realized that my stocks are almost running out. So I called him to meet me to get my vitamins. My friend already have a Bitcoin wallet, but never really used it. So I asked him if he liked to be paid by Bitcoin this time, and he eventually said yes.
So I just scanned his QR code and paid him the amount (there was zero fee because of using the same wallet). And there you have it, my first Bitcoin peer to peer transaction with my friend for the vitamins.
My good friend is happy, and he doesn’t mind me to use Bitcoin again to transact with him. I don’t mind how long will BTC be massively adopted, at least it’s good to spread awareness and advocacy about it.
Great idea. Really. Mass adoption starts from everyone of us. In your situation it was a transaction for vitamins. I personally know people that made a deal with selling/buying car and one guy did not have enough money in dollars, they decided to transact the sum partially in Bitcoins. Everyone was happy. The other thing is that it is good when you have found such friends or trustworthy people that are ingaged into crypto world. Not everyone has such close and deeply involved into crypto people. But in case people will see that it is real and possible the level of mass adoption will be rising more and more.

an interesting story and of course inspiring... Before the price of Bitcoin was as high as it is today, I did p2p transactions several times to my friend who sells women's bags, doing p2p transactions was really simple and not complicated. I am planning to buy some stuff from my friend and I hope she has an LN wallet because the fee is really cheap and fast.

Hey I recognize you in our Local Section (Pilipinas). Did both of you used Coins.ph to transact without fees? That seems the most popular wallet here in the Philippines that is crypto-related. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Edit: I saw your reply mentioning that both of you indeed used it. Forget about my question. Let me just ask this new question instead. - Does your friend have any plans to adopt it as an alternative payment in the future? Because you mentioned that he don't really use his Bitcoin wallet that much.

I've used coins.ph often on ordering on my favorite local eCommerce platform. Coins.ph is easy and reliable to use for Philippine-based customers if transacting to merchants in my experience.

I congratulate you on the first experience of paying for your medicine using bitcoin, this is really a good and faster transaction compared to some other means of payment and that is what Satoshi Nakamoto wants for bitcoin to be used. What if all of the people are using the crypto wallet and knows about cryptocurrency then for sure that we may choose to pay from it rather than paying it in a manual way as you need to go to the store to pay for what you have bought, it is really nice to buy something you want or need using bitcoin or altcoin but still this is still limited for those who only knows about cryptocurrency.

This is awesome to hear these kind of purchases that involved bitcoin as a payment system for purchased and I can say that adoption is getting more and more coming in upon to us enthusiasts. It may take more years for this to happen into our country to adopt on this but I am certainly excited for it to happen and I am here to wait.
