I think a neutral tag should suffice if there are suspicious accounts names. A negative tag would be appropriate if the account in question has been sending PMs pertaining to be the real member or if they are posting in a manner to emulate the name they create their account on, it should receive a negative tag. Not tagging impersonating accounts could lead to problems later including loan requests and other scams.

Giving a neutral trust is sufficient in such cases, especially since s/he did not attempt to request a loan or claim to be connected to ABCbits
Also, the lowercase letters make it very easy to distinguish between them.

ABCbits already added a disclaimer in its profile https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=3761276, I think it is enough to tell anyone dealing with it that it's a fake version. You can add yours too if you wish.

I already asked him his intent on This thread and he never replied.
Imposter should be red tagged, and there's no way it's not an imposter.

Hi, I will explain the matter in another forum. There are people with the same name there too. But they are not teleport account.

Hi, I will explain the matter in another forum. There are people with the same name there too. But they are not teleport account.
Which other forum are you referring to, is it altcointalk or which other one to be specific? Because if it's altcointalk, I'm sure there is this common practice where users who teleported their accounts are been asked to puts a link of their altcointalk account into their bitcointalk profile to prove that they actually own and operates both accounts, before it could be approved.

However, when it comes to this forum (bitcointalk), creating an account that is similar to that of a highly reputable member on this forum is treated as an attempt fraud. Because there is no way you will tell me that those accounts were created by coincidence, because it's definitely not possible, since those are specifically drafted phrases and not commonly used words e.g Bitcoin (Bitcoin001 or BitcoinABC).

Yeah, funnily enough I sent a PM not long ago to hilariousandco or who I thought I was sending to hilariousandco. I made a type and sent to hilariousando (profile link - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2897401).

Luckily it wasn’t anything sensitive financially but it could have been. Please double check any time you are speaking with a poster here privately.

Assuming it was a financial deal it would have relied you like hilariousandco. and you will think you're talking to the right person..This is high time to be giving a contradictory usernames a red tag,  so that they will stop impersonating someone usernames, i believe the people that's using reputable forum members users to create alt, they doesn't mean well for the forum, and they need to be filtered and evacuate from the forum, Assuming you're not clever enough to detect that your messages were sent to a wrong person, you would have been waiting for a rely from the impersonator thinking it's hilariousandco.

As far as I know, things like that have been happening for a long time on this forum, where the same name is often used by other members.

As I discovered a long time ago:
Topic: The name is the same as, staff, monderator forum.

Mod names, Admins and other members are not immune from imitation of the same name.

Including my name has also been imitated.
YOSHIE345

But as long as members know and provide a warning on the profile in question, I don't think it's a threat to certain members.

If forum wants to apply this rule of banning users with similar usernames, some few hundreds of accounts would be banned. I have come across numerous usernames that imitate reputable members including the forum admin username is imitated. The only thing that is clearly visible to differentiate the real users and the imposter is the account rank and activity.

Newbies are likely to fall victim if they choose to pull a scam because they are likely not to pay attention to obvious parts. They mostly focus on the username. Unless, there's motive behind that, I see no reason why someone deliberately choose a very similar username and deliberately made a little modification when there are several usernames available they can choose from.

Why can't they think of something unique as username? I personally prefer to stand out from the rest so I would vote yes if forum wants to stop users from creating a similar username.

See?  If you were a true Bitcoiner you would know double or even triple checking before sending is the golden rule!

Just joking.  Obviously.

If LFC_Bitcoin had previous conversations with hilariousandco they would probably immediately know some thing is wrong but I do get your point.  Have you ever seen impersonators and the way they usually talk?  They do not even try to put an effort in impersonating the writing too!
