Ok - I'm an amature at this. I have restored a wallet i made 5 years ago. I have a brand new PC, I installed Bitcoin Core and then Armory. I restore account and find BTC with no problem.
When I try to send BTC I get the Error:

The transaction that you just executed failed with the following message:

tx broadcast timed out  (get).

I have tried to read a post on this forum with that title, but I didn see the relevance to me - or maybe I just did not understand it...

As I said - this is a completely fresh install - does anyone know a way to fix this and can explain it in not too technical terms (I have tried to delete database and rebuild - no effect)

Chances are the tx was broadcasted. You have to start bitcoind with -server at any rate. You wouldn't experience this issue if Armory could talk to Core's RPC.

Thank you - I cound not understand the "bitcoind" part - you mean bitcoin core?

But I found another tread and managed to create the config file and add server=1 and that solved the error it seems

Sounds like Armory may not be communicating with bitcoind properly... can you please post your Armory logs?

I would suggest you paste them to pastebin.com and then post the pastebin URL here to avoid creating a super long post (or having it cut off due to max character limit).

Hi there.

https://pastebin.com/Yub3M4YR   Here is the website to the logs. I hope I got it right. Yesterday I managed to send 0.02 btc and it worked. in 20 minutes I got it to my Binance. Later in the evening i tried to transfer the rest and it didn't work. It said: tx broadcast timed out (get).

Where do I go from here and why did it work for small amount and not for the big amount of btc...

This is potentially a problem. What version of Bitcoin Core are you using?

That's a very old, outdated version of Armory... it won't work properly with newer versions of Bitcoin Core. I would suggest you go here, get 0.96.5 and update your Armory, then try again: https://btcarmory.com/

0.96.5 is on the releases page: https://btcarmory.com/releases/

Where do I go from here and why did it work for small amount and not for the big amount of btc...
Honestly not sure... for some reason your Bitcoin Core client didn't accept it. It is possibly related to the old Armory version doing something that Bitcoin Core isn't liking Huh

At this point, all I can suggest is to update Armory and try again. If it still isn't working after updating... post the updated log files.

The wallet files should remain untouched... they're stored in the Armory data directory (in your case: C:\Users\sarat\AppData\Roaming\Armory\)

When you uninstall Armory and/or install the new version, that AppData folder is left intact, and only the program files that are in the "C:\Program Files" folder will be removed/overwritten when you install the updated version.

I would suggest always do a backup first of your armory wallet and files from %appdata% before you uninstall and install the latest armory.

It's for your wallet safety if anything goes wrong and actually, you don't need to uninstall them just download the latest version and install it will automatically delete the old version including old files except the armory wallet file that you can find under AppData.

Yeah... If you can actually get Armory starting (even if it isn't syncing etc), and you haven't already, you should make sure you have a paper backup with the root key etc.

Regardless of what happens with the wallet files, if you have your paper backup, you'll be able to recover your wallet and funds.

Do you have other drives/partition that has 400GB+ of free disk space?
Because Bitcoin Core will need it for its data directory files, mostly the blockchain.

Oh, without the space, you can't use Armory because it requires the full blockchain (c/o Bitcoin Core).
Your option now it to use an SPV wallet like Electrum or if you already sent bitcoins to it, you can export the private keys to another wallet.

If you're planning to expand the storage, it should be an internal drive for better performance, but an external drive will work as well.

Ok so if I buy an external Hard Drive, do i need to reinstall everithing on that drive or it will just continue to load on that external dics?
Because I can't send the bitcoin from Armory to Electrum since Armory node isn't completely done it stopped at 31%.

You can use your current installation but it needs some configuration tweaks in both Bitcoin core and Armory.
You'll also need to move Bitcoin core's data directory to the new drive, then the settings; so you wont have to start from scratch.

Here are the configs (both should be closed before following these):
  • In bitcoin core, create/find the "bitcoin.conf" file in the default data directory (after moving everything to the new drive).
Open it using a text editor and put this line: datadir=E:\Example\Directory - the path should be the external drive's new bitcoin data directory.
  • In Armory, just follow this pathing tutorial: https://btcarmory.com/docs/pathing

Note: since you're planning to use an external drive, please bear in mind that it must have a reliable connection to the PC while armory and bitcoin core are running because a simple break in communication with the external disk could lead to corrupted blockchain, block index and/or UTXO set. Fixing those issues will be time consuming.

You won't be able to "send" the coins from Armory... but you could export the private keys from Armory and then either import or sweep those private keys using Electrum

For details on exporting the private keys, refer to my old guide here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4746784.msg43255691#msg43255691

Once you have the private keys, importing or sweeping them into Electrum is relatively easy. There is a very good guide here: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/importing-your-private-keys-into-electrum/
