Dubai is a progressive country, they can survive even without gambling. If their government is okay, then there's no problem with that as it needs to be regulated. If indeed they are giving license, then it's good news, but how would it affect the religious aspect, Dubai is a Muslim country and gambling is against the law of God.

I have not visited Dubai yet, but if there are gambling casinos already, I might check them out.

Maybe it is not interfering with the government policies, but if the religious bodies can or the government can discuss or talk to each other, it will not misunderstand them.

I observe that misunderstanding is the biggest problem between the government, people's elements, religious bodies, and other societies. Each of them does not want to invite people or another element to discuss to make misunderstanding between them.

That is not the way many of the religious bodies are behaving right now. They want the government to follow whatever orders given by them, without any questions. Being a resident of Singapore, I have immensely benefited from the complete separation of religion from politics. In fact I would say that Singapore would not have become one of the richest countries in Asia, if the religious bodies had too much influence. On the other hand, I am a frequent visitor to India and I can see the negative influence of religion in politics. The politicians are forced to bend down to various religious leaders, else they won't get re-elected next time. And that is not just the case with India, but also with most of the countries in South Asia region - Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka.etc.

IMHO, they don't have to think of it. They're all approachable and understandable and that's why the religions are there. They're the ones to understand why the government has to do it. As I'm saying, there's no problem that will be made, there's no problem upon approaching. It's easy to approach them because they are the ones to understand why the government has to do it. The management of a country depends on its government and if they're doing that, they have to make it happen and actually, the government doesn't need a go signal from them.

We will see the next news from the government. If the gambling place really opens in that country, it will give additional income for the country and maybe give people new jobs for people who do not have a job.

The government, as the regulator, needs to listen to all people's elements before they decide or make regulations or something like that. It will give peace for all people if they can work together to grows their country.

Yes, it is right what you say. The religious bodies seem to want the government to listen to them, which is happening in many countries. Maybe the religious bodies will not show that thing to the public, but they can secretly contact the government and make a secret meeting without public knowledge.

It is hard for politicians to bend down to the religious leaders because they can not make their own plan to grow the country and help the people.

If tourists want to visit UAE, then they should concentrate more about the duty free shops and artificial islands, rather than the illegal casinos. For gambling, the tourists can visit Morocco (for budget gamblers) or Monaco (for the more affluent gamblers), which are not too far away.

If the legal avenues are not there, then they will use the illegal gambling dens and online sites. The question here is whether we want this. It will be much better, if the industry is legal and regulated by the government. Making it illegal will only push the entire sector in to the hands of organized mafias. But here we are not talking about illegal casinos operating in a smaller capacity or online gambling, the issue stated acknowledges casinos that have more of a tourist attraction vibe to it than anything else. Haha Imagine in Russia this forum is banned by court order precisely because of gambling. So we are well aware of the absurd laws and strict censorship. In Russia, a ban on the use of VPNs has been discussed for years. So we are not intimidated by the ban on porn, gambling, etc.

There will be for sure a positive impact if it's already rolling. They know what to do and that should be easy and fine to their government but for the meantime, we're all just guessing what's on it and what's with them.

It cant really be stopped because no matter how they do impose restriction there would be always those places or ways on where people could really play.

They are aware with the risk if they've been caught but actually getting rid of it completely is indeed futile but well this is where each country decisions do vary from time to time.

Just like in any other countries too, there are culprits that hiding from the government's rules.

There is no perfect system nor restrictions that can eliminate something illegal in any country.

The most important thing for these restrictions is at least the government is doing something to lessen the activity of those that are not supposed to be permitted to operate in the first place.

Compared to all the surrounding countries yes Dubai is quite progressive. I think many people who live in stricter countries are actually quite glad that Dubai acts as a hub for entertainment  and lowers, even if not completely, the barrier and standards of, for example, Saudi Arabia or perhaps Qatar. Do not get me wrong, you can find "banned" activities in all countries, is just a question of keeping things in private an do not put yourself in the position of getting the attention of the authorities.

When such a simple move was delayed for many decades due to opposition from the conservatives, you can just imagine what would be the reaction from the religious circles, if anyone suggests to start granting gambling licenses. I know that UAE is much more progressive when compared to Saudi Arabia, but even then talking about permitting gambling is taking it to another entirely different level.

When people often access things like that and get prohibited from accessing those things, people will search for a way to help them access, even if they need to purchase a VPN that can make them access the sites. Maybe the government does that because they do not want to see their people will busy with unnecessary things or the government have another reason why they block that. We can guess their reason, but we do not know the truth.

But if the state is prohibited, people who play traditional gambling or often play on the casino, whether legal or illegal, will try to search for the other way to play gambling still. The state will not allow the casino to operate in their country. If you read more on that article, Dubai's police launch an app where people can report suspicious activity. So it is clear that gambling is not allowed in that country.

I thought that most of the countries are now fighting for equality in terms of women's empowerment. That's why I thought that you're saying off-topic and it's not related to the gambling license that I've said before.
