That's really a huge mistake and will hurt more if you own a huge number and the coin gets pump if you cannot follow the coins you are holding on their channel or on their thread and social medias, better dump your coin and cut your losses or just get even, instead of holding your useless coin because you are late in swapping it.

If we investing in a project (assuming this is a growing project with a potential but not listed on the market yet or at least the market cap of this coin is still low) we should not looking at the project once a month because it's quite dangerous. Everything could happen in crypto in a day, or even in an hour. So i think if we investing in a project we should keep up to date to the information of the project before more over a new project

I guess you must have been or of reach with these projects social media for a while, because I do believe that, this type of swap would have been announced on most of their social media handles for sometime before it takes place and I have been in some crypto space where after months have passed of the swap, investors come and ask this same questions. One solution so as not to lose information is to always update information about tokens in the Telegram group. actually it's your own fault not paying attention to the development of the project you are following / buying so when a new announcement comes you are left behind and don't get the latest information, of course you regret it and in the future maybe you will be more active in the project you are following.

Althought it can be his mistake but the developer should also be fair giving solution by either allowing people who are late to swap again, im sure the developer wont like it when their coin in circulation lost just because some people forgot since that also gonna decrease the amount of token holders. If there is a way for old holders to swap their token then both side will get the benefit. I still eonder what keeping the developer from allowing old holders to swap though.

On a more sincere note, this issue of swapping is one of the reasons a lot of people find it hard holding most coins and tokens for long term, this is because a lot of people just want to buy and hold in personal wallets while they focus on other things so that they can hold long term, then after a long time you realise your tokens are now useless, it's really bad. I've also had a similar incident almost like this in the past on an XLM coin and i store my wallet on web wallet and then they updated their wallet and after few years i back again to crypto activity i couldn't recover the password from that wallet anymore. because their new update not able to recover old wallet. if i calculate , there are several thousand usd there. so completely didnt follow any update so possible to lose access some coin.

Yes I have had the same as well. There was no wallet upgrade or anything, but the service of the web wallet simply discontinued and I didn't take that email seriously. It didn't have an obvious header or the word warning. I thought it is some advertising for whatever and ignored the email. After a couple of months I wanted to access the wallet. Website not up, tried to reach out to them and never got an answer. The coin was quite worthless though, but it was a lesson anyway.
