Yes, you are absolutely right, if you want to achieve big profits, save ETH for approximately 2 years. I used to do jmi when in late 2019 the price of ETH was still very low. And the proof is that it can increase up to 10 times.

Holding for two years is not bad but if you happen to buy right at the beginning of the bear market then that may not be enough to produce profits, it is better to just hold your coins for as long as you reasonably can, I know this is hard but you do not want to sell your coins too soon, you could sell now and obtain good profits but what if you can get enough money to change your life if you hold for the next decade? It is better to take things with calm, it is extremely unlikely that we are going to see any kind of big movement now, after a big correction or a crash the confidence of the newcomers gets challenged and they are not ready to make a new commitment so fast, so it will take time for the market to recover but it does not matter especially if you are willing to employ a long term strategy this time around as the price could resume its upward trajectory at the end of the year.

Maybe, eth will surprise us this coming aug 4, once they deployed their london hard fork. It may not follow the btc trend but they will have their own trend. So right now, it is up to use if we will buy or not. The event is upcoming so the potential of increasing its price is very likely to happen. The good thing here is that there's really development going on in this network, so you have hopes that they can deliver.
