I find it frustrating that Elon can so quickly jump from supporting Bitcoin to bashing it with poorly researched facts. That man must have some mood swings or something, and I wish he just stopped talking about crypto so the market could return to normal.

Perhaps ADD or ADHD. Whatever the case, his understanding of bitcoin and the energy stuff is nonsense and shows that he is uninformed.

I mean, it doesn't matter if the research he's referencing is accurate or factual. What Tesla, and therefore Elon is trying to do is make their brand look good. Tesla are pushing the agenda that by using their products they are helping the environment, and is bettering climate change. Which means, if they implement a currency which is linked with increasing the effects of climate change, they need to distance themselves from that as much as possible, since it doesn't matter if its correct, its the perception of their customers. I wouldn't be surprised if Bitcoin was implemented just to they could pull this stunt to try gain the trust of their potential customers.

i don't even think he's doing all the research, there are people that does things for him and the company, and they give him suggestions, i really think he is just a face they put up to the public.

That was expected from him. The next announcement you will see from Elon Musk will be that Tesla will accept doge-coin. They already had a poll tweet about it on this twitter profile.
Whatever he thinks about bitcoin, we need to remember that bitcoin is here to stay and dumps are only temporary.

Agreed. He has become so annoying with all his tweets about DOGE and now BTC.

Now he says BTC is bad for the environment, I get it the mining is very energy inefficient but he know that when he bought in his share of BTC and he again knew that when he announced BTC payment options for Tesla.

This is such a short temper move, and it is frustrating to see this market reaction to 1 tweet...

Making a decision then reverting it a few months later while absolutely nothing has changed should mean something about his decision-making skills. He could easily say that he's starting a Mars mission to pump his stock, then say "nevermind, change of plans".

Did Elon not know about Bitcoin mining energy consumption when he decided to get involved with it? If so, then he's prone to making quick and poorly-researched decisions.

That's probably what he's doing, there's someone whose job is assigned to research things for him and it includes bitcoin. But what I personally think is that he has personal knowledge and facts knew about bitcoin and the crypto market himself. By the way he talks about Dogecoin means that he's aware that it has no use case and just made for meme yet he pursued it and advertised it as much as he can and influenced the market a lot of people to invest in meme coins. It's just disappointing that he's doing a lot for Dogecoin yet he's giving this news for bitcoin although they won't be selling the bitcoins they had as he said but who knows if it's just another PR.

Thanks to this silliness by Musk (the guy who owns a rocket company lol - emissions much?) my $51,500 order got hit. Definitely didn't think that would ever get hit. So thanks for the cheap Bitcoin Elon!

The problem is not Elon Musk, the problem is the herd of sheep who put him on a different pedestal and he knows that very well! This is scary considering the amount of influence he has in the world! I love Elon but I hate people who take anything he says seriously without applying their own brains.

He stated that it was especially due to high use of fossil fuels for Bitcoin mining. I can't believe he gives that as the main reason. It is not a problem that can't be solved. Miners can use renewable energy and it is done. I sometimes really don't understand what he is up to.

Yeah so true. The fact that so many probably millions of people threw their money into a joke like Dogecoin simply because Musk told them to (and the same people are pumping a variety of the worst most useless coins in the crypto market, from failed "BTC/ETH-killers" of yesteryear to parodies of Dogecoin because investing in the joke coin itself wasn't dumb enough lol). And now Bitcoin dumps by a few thousand dollars because of something Musk says. People who are investing based off what some celebrity says are not emotionally sound enough to invest in the first place.

Anyway, Musk just helped bitcoin move from weak hands to strong hands and allowed people to get in cheap. So I suppose I'll thank him as dumb as this is.

It's probably just because there were a lot of articles in the media the past few months crapping on Tesla because people who don't understand Bitcoin (the average person including journalists) were writing about how buying Bitcoin completely goes against the idea of Tesla. Seems like Musk just gave into the pressure of some bad press...of course Tesla is keeping the Bitcoin they bought because they'll make billions of dollars from it.

But they are still holding their bitcoins. Now, they are looking for other coins that are less energy intensive. Interesting which alt they are eyeing here. Wondering if this move has something to do with bitcoin price drop in the market? But anyway, it is not the end of bitcoin, he is not the only one in this market.

I think elon musk is really manipulating the market. There are millions of people who trust Elon Musk and imitate what he does. These millions of people are now reacting like withdrawing from this market after Elon Musk's move. the market was badly affected. and Elon Musk should no longer say anything about this market, not tweet in any way, or mislead people.

I think this guy was having huge holdings, and I believed he has that power to speculate something based on his statements. Then those avid fans and followers of him really take those words seriously which is a huge impact to what happened on the price today. Most probably he also said those things in order to gain back his profits, then eventually buy back an additional holdings once btc goes back to another ATH.

Dogecoin it is. He also recently posted a poll whether he will be accepting dogecoin for Tesla cars, votes go high as 3M. If he now suspends accepting BTC for tesla cars, then dogecoin will be accepted soon.

The gasoline shortage in the US will likely make people buy electric cars from Tesla. I don't want to connect the dots but it seems very possible.

If John McAfee and Martin Shkreli had a baby... it would be Elon Musk! Tongue

He's just a glorified pump and dumper that sells big dreams to "smart" people who are actually delusional as fuck.  I've thought that about tesla for some time now.

It's a bad sign when a "global currency" is so dependant on a bunch of fruitloops on social media.  I think we are going to see all the positive attention get turned against Bitcoin for a little bit... prepare for articles like "Mark Cuban warned his players about converting their salary to crypto and saved them millions" or "Gary Vee donates 50% of his Unregistered Security NFT's to "Save The Whales" and "Tranny Children Lifes Matters" in protest of Bitcoin!"

sometimes i feel Elon Musk can be corrosive with his tweets... , so what's the extent bitcoin mining has contributed to carbon emission's as compared to general electricity generation because for him suspending buying of his cars and citing “rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for bitcoin mining.” pssh doesn't make sense!!
For the record those electric still contribute to carbon emissions direct  or indirectly, i suppose he should close shop too!

And should countries also using fossil fuels go dark too all in the good spirit of reducing our carbon footprints  Tongue
